Abstract: A polarization scrambler using a retardance element (RE) is disclosed. The polarization scrambler may include an optical fiber input to transmit an optical signal, and a beam expander to receive and expand the optical signal to create an expanded optical signal. The polarization scrambler may include a retardance element (RE) to cause a polarization scrambling effect on the expanded optical signal and to create a scrambled expanded optical signal. The polarization scrambler may include a beam reducer to receive and reduce the scrambled expanded optical signal to create a scrambled optical signal. The polarization to scrambler may include an optical fiber output to receive scrambled optical signal. The optical fiber output may transmit the scrambled optical signal to one or more downstream optical components.

  • Publication number: 20230082010
Abstract: In an approach for automatic vertical partitioning of fact tables in a distributed query engine a processor analyzes a sample end-user workload of queries to extract filter predicates associated with each of multiple fact tables relating to a big data store. A processor, for each fact table, and for each column in the fact table to which a filter predicate is applied and where coarsification is required, generates a candidate partitioning expression incorporating an adjustment to a coarsification function based on a data distribution of values in the column. A processor scores the candidate partitioning expressions for each fact table based on cost data relating to the sample end-user workload and selects one or more candidate partitioning expressions to optimize partitioning of each fact table with each partition data being placed in a separate directory in a distributed file system.

  • Publication number: 20230066621
Abstract: Automated interfaces with interactive keywords between employment postings and candidate profiles are disclosed. An example system includes a profile database and one or more processors. The one or more processors are configured to identify one or more posting keywords by parsing extracted text of an employment posting, retrieve one or more posting search-terms from a search-term database based on the one or more posting keywords, and generate a list of candidates based on one or more candidate profiles retrieved from the profile database. Further, the one or more processors are configured to present, to the recruiter, an interface that includes a posting section and a candidate section adjacent to the posting section. Further, the one or more processors are configured to typographically emphasize the posting keywords that are associated with the posting search-terms to indicate relationships between the employment posting and the list of candidates.

  • Patent number: 11573816
Abstract: Generally described, one or more aspects of the present application relate to prefetching container images for use in a cluster of virtual machines. For example, the cluster manifest may indicate an ordered list of image repositories and a set of container images that are likely to be executed on the cluster. Based on this indication, the set of container images can be prefetched onto the caches of the virtual machines in the cluster, such that when requests to execute those container images are eventually received, the container images can be accessed from the caches rather than from a remote repository.

  • Patent number: 11544560
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for prefetching information and/or (pre)allocating computing resources based on predicting classification labels with temporal data. A trained temporal classification model forecasts events (e.g., too numerous for individual modeling) by predicting classification labels indicating whether events will occur, or a number of occurrences of the events, during each of a plurality of future time intervals. Time-series datasets, indicating whether events occurred, or a number of occurrences of the events, during each of a plurality of past time intervals, are transformed into temporal classification datasets. Classifications may be based, at least in part, on extracted features, such as data seasonality, temporal representation, statistical and/or real-time features. Classification labels are used to determine whether to take one or more actions, such as, for example, prefetching information or (pre)allocating a computing resource.

  • Publication number: 20220390322
Abstract: According to examples, a system for measuring polarization dependent loss (PDL) for a device-under-test (DUT) may include a tunable laser, a polarization element and a power meter. The tunable laser may emit an optical signal to sweep across an optical band at a constant rate. The polarization element may scramble polarizations states of the optical signal emitted from the tunable laser. The power meter may take power measurements associated with the optical signal emitted from the tunable laser, wherein the power measurements from the power meter are used to determine a maximum insertion loss (IL) and a minimum insertion loss (IL) associated with the device-under-test (DUT). An average insertion loss (IL) and a polarization dependent loss (PDL) for the device-under-test (DUT) may be calculated based on the maximum insertion loss (IL) and the minimum insertion loss (IL) associated with the device-under-test (DUT).

  • Patent number: 11507949
Abstract: This post-paid process and system for disconnected terminals solves the problem of a disconnected terminal being able to perform post-paid operations securely, using an electronic device of the user to communicate with a central server which creates a token with a temporal validity that serves to activate a compound of the disconnected terminal and, optionally, additional hardware. All operations performed in the terminal are locked to make it impossible to alter the data and signed with a cryptographic key before using the client device as transportation for the operations block to be processed in the central server and charged.
