  • Patent number: 10379623
Abstract: A method and system for positioning based device control. The method includes receiving device control instructions associated with function control of a device based on a positioning of a wearable hardware device of a user. Communications between the device and the wearable hardware device are synchronized and a position signal indicating a current position of the wearable hardware device with respect to a body of the user is received. In response, a command associated with controlling a specified function of the device is received and a command is executed resulting in the specified function of the device being modified.

  • Publication number: 20190235717
Abstract: First statistical data and at least second statistical data can be received from respective data processing systems, the statistical data received from each data processing system indicating a respective duration of time for the data processing system to perform a task. A progress profile for the task can be updated by conglomerating the first statistical data with at least the second statistical data. A request indicating the task can be received from a third data processing system. In response, the progress profile can be communicated to the third data processing system. The third data processing system can present on a display a progress bar and indicate status of completion of the task by reiteratively updating the progress bar. The status of completion can be determined based on a duration of time expected for the task indicated in the progress profile and an amount of time that has elapsed.

  • Publication number: 20190199778
Abstract: A first instance of a response, generated by a user, posted in a first social networking service can be detected. The first instance of the response can respond to a first instance of content shared with the user in the first social networking service. A second instance of the first content being shared with the user in the first social networking service or a second social networking service can be detected. Responsive to detecting the second instance of the first content being shared with the user, a second instance of the response can be automatically posted, the second instance of the response responding to the second instance of the first content on behalf of the user.

  • Patent number: 10324749
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for optimizing runtime performance of an application workload. Network input/output (I/O) operations between virtual machines of a pattern of virtual machines servicing the application workload in a private cloud are measured over a period of time and depicted in a histogram. A score is generated for each virtual machine or group of virtual machines in the pattern of virtual machines based on which range in the ranges of I/O operations per seconds (IOPS) depicted in the histogram has the largest sample size and the number of virtual machines in the same pattern that are allowed to be in the public cloud. In this manner, the runtime performance of the application workload is improved by minimizing the network input/output communications between the two cloud environments by migrating those virtual machine(s) or group(s) of virtual machines with a score that exceeds a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20190180002
Abstract: A microservice join request is received by a first microservice from a second microservice within a microservices system. The microservice join request includes microservice trust relationship information of the second microservice that defines microservice credentials and service description parameters of the second microservice. Using the microservice trust relationship information, a determination is made as to whether a consensus exists among other microservices within the microservices system that the second microservice is authorized to inter-operate within the microservices system. In response to determining that the consensus exists, validated local run-time inter-operational microservice trust relationship information is created.

  • Publication number: 20190178671
Abstract: Approaches presented herein enable improving electronic (e.g., GPS) navigation for a user operating a vehicle based on feedback from the user. More specifically, a verbal comment is obtained from the user and is analyzed for a navigation instruction delivery preference. A profile associated with navigation of the vehicle, which can include a user profile, a location profile, or an ambient environment profile, is modified based on the navigation instruction delivery preference. Based on the profile associated with navigation of the vehicle, a navigation instruction is synthesized and provided to the user. A dialogue can be solicited with the user to obtain additional comments from the user, based upon which the profile associated with navigation of the vehicle can be further modified.

  • Publication number: 20190166251
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide techniques for generating an electronic communication response for a mobile electronic device in an offline state. A communication server detects various offline conditions, such as explicitly powered off, low/dead battery, dead zone location, and/or other reasons. A sending electronic device, attempting to establish communication with a receiving electronic device that is offline receives an automated reply message from the communication server, indicating that the intended receiving electronic device is offline. In embodiments, an estimated online restoration time for the receiving electronic device is derived and included in the automated reply message. Additionally, a reason for the offline condition such as explicitly powered off, low/dead battery, dead zone location, and/or other reason may also be included in the automated reply message.

  • Publication number: 20190158565
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide a system and method for performing a web conferencing presentation pre-staging. In a web conference with multiple participants and various presenters, each presenter is able to view a live presentation that is currently being presented to the participants, as well as view her own presentation in a pre-staged presentation mode. The test presentation mode allows a presenter to see how the presentation will appear to others, and provides an opportunity to test features such as audio, animation, time delay, lighting, and other important factors. When the current live presentation ends, the presentation that is in test presentation mode is switched to live presentation mode for viewing by the participants of the web conference.

  • Patent number: 10291572
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for selectively delaying social media messages in a social media environment are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A subject matter of a social media message is determined by analyzing the social media message at a first time after sending by a sender user and prior to publishing on a social media page of a receiver user. Using a delay rule related to the subject matter, a determination is made whether the publishing of the social media message on the social media page of receiver user should be delayed. Responsive to the delay rule concluding to delay the publishing, the publishing of the social media message on the social media page of the receiver user is delayed by a delay period.
