  • Publication number: 20170126843
Abstract: Industrial devices are configured to provide their associated industrial data to client-side user interface applications in a self-describing manner that instructs the interface applications how the data is to be rendered. In response to a request for a data item from a user interface application, the industrial device sends the requested data item together with presentation metadata that identifies a widget or graphical objects to be used by the interface application to render the data item on a user interface. By providing the industrial data in a self-describing manner, additional data or services can be added to the industrial device without requiring a corresponding update to the client-side interface application.

  • Patent number: 9504846
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices relating to transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). A circuit having at least two inductors is used in a TMS device. A small inductor adjacent to the patient's head and a large inductor away from the patient is used. The inductors are coupled to the circuit using multiple semiconductor switching subsystems. The subsystems, when activated, couple the inductors to the circuit and the inductors act as a single inductance. When deactivated, the subsystems decouple the inductors from the circuit and each inductor individually recovers or dissipates/discharges energy stored within. Since each inductor dissipates energy separately from each other, a much shorter dissipation or recovery time is achieved in the inductor close to the patient's brain as compared to the larger inductor. While dissipating or discharging, the small inductor induces electric currents in the brain to thus achieve stimulation and elicit action potentials.

  • Publication number: 20160182401
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product that includes a processor assigning a network connection to an application, based upon the application requesting the network connection from a pool of network connections for connecting applications to a network resource, the assigned network connection for communicating a message with the network resource. The processor replaces the assigned network connection in the pool with a placeholder comprising configuration data of the assigned connection. The processor determined a period of inactivity of the assigned network connection, and the processor returns the assigned network connection to the pool, based upon the period reaching a defined threshold of inactivity.

  • Patent number: 9230818
Abstract: Films of III-nitride for semiconductor device growth are planarized using an etch-back method. The method includes coating a III-nitride surface having surface roughness features in the micron range with a sacrificial planarization material such as an appropriately chosen photoresist. The sacrificial planarization material is then etched together with the III-nitride roughness features using dry etch methods such as inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching. By closely matching the etch rates of the sacrificial planarization material and the III-nitride material, a planarized III-nitride surface is achieved. The etch-back process together with a high temperature annealing process yields a planarized III-nitride surface with surface roughness features reduced to the nm range. Planarized III-nitride, e.g., GaN, substrates and devices containing them are also provided.
