  • Patent number: 9807391
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to reduce the number of video streams or increase the quality of delivered video with the same number of video streams in a multiple bitrate video encoding. Multiple video resolutions and/or frame rates can be combined into a single stream. In embodiments, optimal segments from a plurality of input streams can be selected for inclusion in an output stream based upon a range of acceptable quantization parameter values for the output stream and a quality characteristic associated with the optimal input stream.

  • Patent number: 9796286
Abstract: A network includes vehicle(s) having a battery pack and vehicle telematics unit (VTU), and a server. A server in communication with the VTUs and remote client device(s) is programmed to receive vehicle information from the VTU, including an energy throughput value defined by charging power delivered to the battery pack during an active charging event. The server receives utility information and a load adjustment request from the remote client device, including a power interrupt permission status describing whether interruption of power by a host of the client device is permitted. Charging control signals are transmitted in response to the load adjustment request to enable or postpone the charging event. Energy throughput is recorded over multiple active charging events, which are then combined or aggregated. Output data, e.g., a bill or report describing the aggregated energy throughput values, may be generated by the server. A method and server are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20170300592
Abstract: Methods and mechanisms for managing data in a hash table are disclosed. A computing system includes a hash table configured to store data and hash management logic. In response to receiving a request to insert data into the hash table, the hash management logic is configured to generate a first hash value by applying a first hash function to the key of the key-value pair, and identify a first bucket within the hash table that corresponds to the first hash table. If the first bucket has a slot available, store the key-value pair in the slot. If the first bucket does not have a slot available, select a first slot of the first bucket for conversion to a remap entry, store the key-value pair in a second bucket, and store information associating the key-value pair with the second bucket in the remap entry.

  • Patent number: 9759937
Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with electrical components mounted in an electronic device housing. A display module may be attached to a display cover layer with a layer of adhesive to form a display module assembly. The display module assembly and a backlight unit assembly may together form a display that is mounted within an electronic device housing. A support structure that supports the display cover layer may be integrated with the backlight unit assembly. The support structure may have an upper surface to which the display cover layer is attached and a lower portion that is molded to a metal chassis that supports the backlight unit. The lower portion of the support structure may form a plastic chassis that surrounds the backlight unit. In this way, an integrated support structure may be used to support both the display module and the backlight unit.

  • Patent number: 9745083
Abstract: A method for thermally stabilizing a communication satellite in orbit around the Earth relies on the discrete rotational symmetry of the pattern of antenna beams of the satellite. Exploiting the symmetry, the orientation of the satellite is changed from time to time by rotating the satellite through a symmetry angle of the rotational symmetry. Because of the symmetry, the beam pattern is unchanged after the rotation; but, because the rotation angle is less than 360°, a different side of the satellite is exposed to sunlight. The use of different thermal radiators and thermal shields on different sides of the satellite means that the thermal budget of the satellite is different after the rotation. By judiciously applying rotations as needed, as the orbit's orientation relative to the Sun evolves in time, it is possible to achieve effective control on the thermal budget of the satellite.

  • Patent number: 9718566
Abstract: A stackable satellite includes a satellite frame and at least one vertical pillar attached to the frame. The vertical pillar has an upper end and a lower end. The upper end is coupled to the lower end of the vertical pillar of the satellite above and the lower end is coupled to the upper end of the vertical pillar of the satellite below. The vertical pillar receives substantially all of the vertical load of the stackable satellite and any other satellites stacked above. Use of such vertical pillars removes the need for a dispenser or substantially lightens the dispenser mass to allow substantially more satellites to be carried in a payload.
