  • Publication number: 20090173720
Abstract: A welding electrode assembly that includes a tip member and a coupling member and has certain self-aligning features which promote proper alignment during operation. In one embodiment, the coupling member acts as a self-aligning joint or connection and generally includes a housing, a movable plunger, and a biasing element such as a spring. During operation, contact between the tip member and a work piece surface causes the plunger to lift from an opening in the housing against the urging force of the spring so that the tip member can become properly aligned with the work piece.

  • Publication number: 20090172038
Abstract: A system and method are described for Universal Description Discovery and Integration (UDDI) data migration exporting existing UDDI V3 data from a UDDI V3 compliant repository (a source repository) and importing this data into another UDDI V3 compliant repository (a destination repository). The data from the source repository is migrated into the destination repository and remains in the custody of the destination repository. The method preserves the user name and entity key associated with the data during the process. If that is not possible, the method generates new user names and/or entity keys and creates a mapping between the original and the generated user names and/or keys in order to dispatch the requests properly during runtime. Source repository is required to support the mandatory UDDI v3 APIs and may need to support the optional Security API Set. Destination repository is required to support the mandatory UDDI v3 API and the optional Security API Set.

  • Publication number: 20090125482
Abstract: A method is disclosed for modifying the results of a search performed in a collection of items by a search and navigation system. The method includes receiving a query from a user interface and determining a navigation state, defined by expressions of attribute-value pairs, based on the received query. The user interface accepts both selecting and deselecting of any of the attribute-value pairs in an expression corresponding to a navigation state to obtain an expression corresponding to a different navigation state, and each selection and deselection forms a new query. The method further includes retrieving, from the collection, items associated with the navigation state to form a set of unmodified search results, the set of unmodified search results having an arrangement for presentation to the user. A rule filter that includes a metadata expression is applied to a set of rules, each rule having a trigger, an action, and metadata.

  • Publication number: 20090107958
Abstract: A torch for gas metal arc welding includes a torch housing and a contact tip mounted on the housing and having an electrode bore through which electrode wire is fed. A nozzle mounted on the housing surrounds the contact tip to define an annular gas passage between the contact tip and the inside of the nozzle. A shielding gas inlet communicates a shielding gas into the annular gas passage so that the shielding gas flows out of the nozzle. A plurality of auxiliary flow passages are provided in the contact tip, and have open ends arranged around the electrode bore. The auxiliary flow passages communicate with the gas inlet and surround the electrode wire with an auxiliary flow of shielding gas that is closer to the electrode wire than the shielding gas flow that is provided through the annular gas passage between the contact tip and the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 7509153
Abstract: A method and apparatus for noninvasive glucose measurement measures glucose indirectly from the natural response of tissue to variations in analyte concentration. The indirect measurement method utilizes factors affected by or correlated with the concentration of glucose, such as refractive index, electrolyte distribution or tissue scattering. Measurement reliability is greatly improved by stabilizing optical properties of the tissue at the measurement site, thus blood perfusion rates at the sample site are regulated. Perfusion is monitored and stabilized by spectroscopically measuring a control parameter, such as skin temperature, that directly affects perfusion. The control parameter is maintained in a range about a set point, thus stabilizing perfusion. Skin temperature is controlled using a variety of means, including the use of active heating and cooling elements, passive devices, such as thermal wraps, and through the use of a heated coupling medium having favorable heat transfer properties.
