  • Publication number: 20080201713
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a project are described. According to one embodiment, the method includes the steps of ranking the plurality of tasks to produce a first list; assigning a task cost to each of the plurality of tasks; setting a planned velocity, the planned velocity determining the rate at which task costs are planned to be completed per time segment; and dynamically assigning each of the plurality of tasks to one of the sequence of time segments in the order indicated by the first list based on the planned velocity. In other embodiments, the apparatus includes a machine-readable medium that provides instructions for a processor, which when executed by the processor cause the processor to perform a method of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20080195598
Abstract: A method and system to provide subjective evaluations for artifacts in a Universal Description Discovery and Integration (UDDI) registry (version 3 or later). An extension to a UDDI registry receives a request from a client to add a subjective evaluation to an artifact in the UDDI registry, the request including a key identifying the artifact and an evaluation value to be associated with the artifact. The extension stores an evaluation, including the artifact identifying key and the associated evaluation value. The extension receives a request from a client to find a specific type of artifact in the UDDI registry, the request including an evaluation qualifier. The extension receives from the registry a list of keys identifying artifacts responsive to the request. The extension then provides the client with a list of stored evaluation values associated with the artifact keys in the artifact list.

  • Publication number: 20080150944
Abstract: Embodiments provide for ray tracing traversal that relies on selected geometrical properties of the application to reduce the number of operations required during each traversal step. The traversal algorithm does not depend on the number of rays in the group. As a result, multi-level traversal schemes may be implemented, starting with a large number of rays in a group and then reducing it as needed to maintain group coherency. Multi-level traversal schemes may be created by splitting large groups of rays while traversing acceleration structures.

  • Patent number: 7386027
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating and processing wideband signals having reduced discrete power spectral density (PSD) components are disclosed. A wideband signal having reduced discrete PSD components is achieved by generating data symbols responsive to data for transmission, transforming one or more of the data symbols into a frame including one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, selectively inverting the frame responsive to a pseudo-random data sequence, and modulating wideband signal pulses of the wideband signal with the selectively inverted frame.

  • Patent number: 7373490
Abstract: A method in a computer system, one embodiment includes accessing a packed data instruction and generating a corresponding set of control bits to cause a processor to alter a top of stack to zero of a programmer visible register file, accessing a floating point instruction and generating a corresponding set of control bits that cause the processor to operate on the programmer visible register file as a stack, but accessing a transition instruction between the packed data instruction and the scalar floating point instruction and generating a corresponding set of control bits to cause the processor to alter tag data to indicate that programmer visible register file is empty. The method advantageously provides a means for clearing the packed data state at the end of blocks of packed data instructions to leave the floating point state in a clear condition for subsequent operations (e.g. floating point calculations).

  • Publication number: 20080085696
Abstract: An emergency communication system includes a combined transmitter and receiver device (transceiver) that transmits information from a residential or business location to an emergency response system, which in turn sends signals and communications to the transceiver via radio frequency (RF) signals. The transceiver performs certain functions in response and according to data transmitted by the emergency communication system. The transceiver device is connected to a standard telephone network and allows data to be processed by sending signals over the phone line. The transmitter device also acts as a receiver, as it is able to receive radio frequency (RF) signals. The RF signals can be sent from an emergency response system, or other types of notification networks. This emergency communication system thereby operates as a two way communication system utilizing current telecommunication technology.
