  • Publication number: 20240214686
Abstract: An electronic device, a method, and a computer program product provide vibrating the electronic device for bidirectional tracking of a subject identified within a field of view of an image capturing device. In response to determining that the subject is moving in a first direction, a controller of the electronic device triggers vibratory component(s) to vibrate in a first mode that results in rotating in the first direction to maintain the movable subject within a field of view of the image capturing device. In response to determining that the subject is moving in an opposite second direction, the controller triggers the vibratory component(s) to vibrate in a second mode that results in the housing rotating in the second direction to maintain the movable subject within the field of view.

  • Patent number: 12019943
Abstract: A method provides concurrent transmission of a virtual action center with a primary segment cropped from a video image, enabling remote participant control of aspects of the primary segment. The method includes identifying a primary region of interest (ROI) within a video image and delineating the video image into a primary segment encompassing the primary ROI and a secondary segment. The method includes associating a virtual action center within a location of the secondary segment and assigning control features of the virtual action center to the second device connected via a video communication session. The method includes transmitting the primary segment and concurrently transmitting the features/functions of the virtual action center to the second device, enabling the second device to concurrently present, on its display, the primary segment and the virtual action center as portions of a received video stream, providing second device control of content within the primary segment.

  • Patent number: 12021906
Abstract: An electronic device incorporates, and a method and a computer program product provide automatic selection of an image capturing device during video communication session to encompass a local participant. A network interface(s) of the electronic device communicatively connects over a network second electronic device(s). A controller of the electronic device monitors a first image capturing device having a first field of view (FOV) and that produces first image content and a second image capturing device having a second FOV that differs from the first FOV and that produces second image content. In response to a trigger event to start providing image content to the video communication session, the controller determines which one of the first FOV and the second FOV encompasses the local participant in the video communication session and communicates a corresponding one of the first image content and the second image content to the video communication session.

  • Patent number: 12022022
Abstract: In aspects of adaptive grip suppression, a wireless device has a display screen with curved display edges to display a user interface associated with a device application, the user interface including a selectable element to initiate a device application action. The wireless device implements an adaptive control module to adaptively manage grip suppression in the curved display edges of the display screen, which limits the device application action from being initiated based on inadvertent touch inputs on the selectable element. The adaptive control module can determine that the selectable element of the user interface is displayed within a region of a curved display edge of the display screen, and decrease the grip suppression in the region of the curved display edge proximate the selectable element of the user interface.

  • Patent number: 12022182
Abstract: Techniques for visual feature based video effects are described and are implementable to determine one or more visual features associated with an individual and generate a modified video feed based on the visual features. The described implementations enable automatic focus of a video feed to a particular focal region based on facial features of the individual. For instance, a visual feature such as pupillary distance or pupil size is determined from a video feed. A focal distance is calculated based on the visual feature, e.g., indicating a region that the individual is focused on. A modified video stream is then generated based on the focal distance, for instance to focus the video stream to a specific focal plane.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and computer-readable media for peer booting server nodes on an edge zone. For example, an edge zone may include data plane devices capable of hosting virtual machines and other cloud-based services thereon that provide low-latency services to customers of a cloud computing system. Systems described herein implement an operating system (OS) provisioning system that, in combination with a peer booting system on a server node, facilitates instantiation of an OS on the server node as well as enabling the server node to act as an OS provider service to other server nodes on the edge zone. The systems disclosed herein facilitate fast installation of OS services without overutilizing limited bandwidth resources of a virtual network that connects the server nodes with control plane devices remotely maintained at a datacenter.

  • Publication number: 20240198420
Abstract: The present application describes the development of a method for creating a continuous conductive metal layer on a surface of a component, the component preferably made of molded acrylonitrile butadiene styrene polymer (ABS) or polycarbonate/ABS (PC/ABS) blend, the method utilizing cold sintering. This method avoids the need for chromic acid etching pretreatment prior to the electroplating process. Continuous, conductive and thickness-controllable layers of metals such as Ni, Fe, Cu or Ni/Fe have been created on the plastic surface using the cold sintering. The method will also work with any other metal. Thus, molded ABS or PC/ABS parts can be further electroplated without the need to go through the undesirable etching process.

  • Publication number: 20240195718
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for detecting timestamp discontinuities and video resolution discontinuities within a packet stream and marking locations of the detected discontinuities within the packet stream are described. Prior to transmission of the packet stream, an electronic device may perform timestamp discontinuity detection by acquiring a sequence of packets to be transmitted, identifying a first timestamp associated with an earliest packet within the sequence of packets, identifying a second timestamp associated with a latest packet within the sequence of packets, determining a timestamp time difference between the first timestamp and the second timestamp, determining a maximum chunk time difference based on a data rate at which the sequence of packets were encoded and a data size of the encoded packets, and detecting that a timestamp discontinuity exists within the sequence of packets if the timestamp time difference is greater than the maximum chunk time difference.

  • Patent number: 12005442
Abstract: Systems and assemblies for performing point-of-care, fluidic assays having self-contained, portable fluidic assay systems or assemblies. A housing comprises an assaying assembly, an inspiration actuator, and an expulsion actuator. The inspiration and expulsion actuators may include one-way valves. The assaying assembly is configured to provide a visual indicator in response to being contacted by one or more target analytes within a fluid-assay sample mixture. The fluidic assay assembly has a reciprocal plunger disposed therewithin and, in some embodiments, the plunger has a resilient member to bias the plunger in one direction. Movement of the plunger in a first direction implements an inspiration stroke for drawing the assay sample such that it contacts the fluid from the fluid chamber and continued movement of the plunger implements an expulsion stroke for expelling the fluid-assay sample mixture through the outlet opening to the receptacle of the assaying assembly.
