  • Patent number: 7904930
Abstract: In an implementation of broadcast content delivery, content is broadcast to television-based client devices via a broadcast communication link. The content can be generated for display to include a user-selectable control to initiate a request for additional content that includes broadcast content and/or on-demand content. A content provider receives the request for the on-demand content from a client device via a two-way communication link, and broadcasts the on-demand content to the television-based client devices via a channel of the broadcast communication link. The content provider also communicates an identifier via the two-way communication link to the client device such that the client device can identify the channel of the broadcast communication link and receive the on-demand content via the broadcast communication link.

  • Patent number: 7904603
Abstract: The present invention includes an adaptable high-performance node (RXN) with several features that enable it to provide high performance along with adaptability. A preferred embodiment of the RXN includes a run-time configurable data path and control path. The RXN supports multi-precision arithmetic including 8, 16, 24, and 32 bit codes. Data flow can be reconfigured to minimize register accesses for different operations. For example, multiply-accumulate operations can be performed with minimal, or no, register stores by reconfiguration of the data path. Predetermined kernels can be configured during a setup phase so that the RXN can efficiently execute, e.g., Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Fast-Fourier Transform (FFT) and other operations. Other features are provided.

  • Patent number: 7903634
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of encapsulating Ethernet frame data in Very high speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) frames. The VDSL frames are transmitted over a point to point VDSL link where they are subsequently extracted and forwarded as standard Ethernet frames. The VDSL facility transport system comprises an Ethernet to VDSL Consumer Premises Equipment (CPE) coupled to a DSL Access Multiplexor (DSLAM) over a VDSL transport facility. The Ethernet to VDSL CPE functions to receive a 10BaseT Ethernet signal and encapsulate the Ethernet frame into a VDSL frame for transmission over the VDSL facility. The DSLAM is adapted to receive VDSL frames, extract Ethernet frames therefrom and generate and output a standard Ethernet signal. Ethernet frames are encapsulated within VDSL frames and transmitted on the wire pair without regard to the state of the SOC signals. This overcomes the problems associated with syncing the transmission of the Ethernet data with the SOC signals.

  • Patent number: 7903631
Abstract: A system and/or method for relaying messages in a network (e.g. a mobile network) are provided. Certain portable communications nodes are instrumented with omni-directional antennas. Certain static communications nodes are network cluster-head nodes with directional antennas, and, for example, achieve much of the gain possible when all nodes have directional antennas. Cluster-head communications preferably are used when the nodes are separable by the directional antennas. Preferably, there is a transition to mesh communications when the nodes cannot take advantage of the directional antennas. One feature of certain exemplary embodiments is that only one side of a communication link requires a directional antennal to enable spatial frequency reuse.

  • Patent number: 7904481
Abstract: A system and method for collecting work volume data where a work process is modeled into work queues. A link is created between one of the modeled work queues and an implied work queue. Upon the receipt of a first work event, information is updated that is associated with the first work queue. Based upon the receipt of the fist work event and the link, a first implied work event is generated. Based on the first implied work event, information associated with the first implied work queue is updated.

  • Patent number: 7904559
Abstract: Resources are retrieved asynchronous through the use of resource requests to a feed server. When the feed server returns an initial requested resource, a URI for a next resource is sent to the requesting subscriber. The URI for the next resource was pre-generated by the feed server before the next resource was created, thus allowing the subscriber to have a pending asynchronous resource request at the feed server. This resource request persists on the feed server until the new resource becomes available.

  • Patent number: 7903545
Abstract: A network device may include a first memory to store a primary multicast tree state table for storing next-hop information for a multicast tree corresponding to a multicast stream; a second memory to store a secondary multicast tree, different than the primary multicast tree, state table for storing the next-hop information for the multicast tree corresponding to the multicast stream; a receiver to receive a data unit from a neighbor network device, the data unit including information regarding a next-hop in the multicast tree; and one or more processors. The one or more processors may update the primary multicast tree state table based on the information regarding the next-hop in the multicast tree, and update the secondary multicast tree state table, in response to the one or more processors updates the primary multicast tree state table, based on the information regarding the next-hop in the multicast tree.

  • Publication number: 20110051597
Abstract: A technique for testing peer nodes in a multicast domain (such as an access network) interconnected with an Ethernet network via an Intermediate Bridge (IB), especially helpful when an individual MAC address of a destination peer node is unknown. The technique comprises a) issuing a Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) message from the Ethernet network, and introducing into the CFM message alternative destination data being different than the individual MAC address of the destination peer node; b) utilizing the alternative destination data, at the IB, for determining topological position or address of the destination peer node, and c) forwarding contents of the CFM message only to the destination peer node.

  • Publication number: 20110054308
Abstract: A system for superimposing virtual anatomical landmarks on an image includes a medical positioning system (MPS) for producing location readings with respect to points within a region of interest in accordance with an output of a location sensor disposed in a medical device. A coordinate system of the MPS is registered with an image coordinate system. A control unit receives a signal from a user to record a location reading when the medical device is at a desired point in the region of interest where the user desires to place a virtual landmark, modifies the recorded location reading for motion compensation, transforms the motion-compensated location reading from the MPS coordinate system to the image coordinate system to produce a target location, and then superimposes a representation of the virtual landmark on the image at the target location.

  • Publication number: 20110053284
Abstract: Chemical functionalization of solid-state nanopores and nanopore arrays and applications thereof. Nanopores are extremely sensitive single-molecule sensors. Recently, electron beams have been used to fabricate synthetic nanopores in thin solid-state membranes with sub-nanometer resolution. A new class of chemically modified nanopore sensors are provided with two approaches for monolayer coating of nanopores by: (1) self-assembly from solution, in which nanopores ?10 nm diameter can be reproducibly coated, and (2) self-assembly under voltage-driven electrolyte flow, in which 5 nm nanopores may be coated. Applications of chemically modified nanopore are provided including: the detection of biopolymers such as DNA and RNA; immobilizing enzymes or other proteins for detection or for generating chemical gradients; and localized pH sensing.
