  • Publication number: 20110097920
Abstract: The flexible electrical connector is designed to facilitate electrical connections between a power receiving device, such as an at least partially electric vehicle, and a power supplying device, such as an electric vehicle charging station. The flexible electrical connector has a blade shaped housing attached to a power cord that extends to the power supplying device. The blade shaped housing has a substantially rigid end portion with an electrical interface configured to detachably mate with a corresponding electrical interface on the power receiving device. The blade shaped housing also has a handle portion made of a substantially flexible material such which is configured to flex about the rigid end portion along an arc in a single plane. As such, the flexible handle can absorb impacts it receives rather than transferring them to the rigid and breakable electrical interface components.

  • Patent number: 7933567
Abstract: Techniques for achieving linear monotonic output power with piecewise non-linear and/or non-monotonic circuits are described. A coarse gain is selected for a first circuit having non-linear and/or non-monotonic characteristics. A fine gain is selected for a second circuit used to account for output power error due to the coarse gain. First and second look-up tables may store output power versus gain for the first and second circuits, respectively. An output power in the first look-up table may be selected based on the requested output power, and the gain corresponding to the selected output power may be provided as the coarse gain. An output power in the second look-up table may be selected based on the output power error, and the gain corresponding to the selected output power may be provided as the second gain.

  • Patent number: 7933679
Abstract: A method for optimizing machining parameters for a cutting process performed on a work piece. Finite element analysis of cutting tool and work material interaction is initially performed. Mechanistic modeling of the cutting process, using results of the finite element analysis, is then performed to provide optimized machining parameters for improved rate of material removal and tool life. Optionally, a two-stage artificial neural network may be supplementally employed, wherein a first stage of the network provides output parameters including peak tool temperature and cutting forces in X and Y directions, for a combination of input reference parameters including tool rake angle, material cutting speed, and feed rate.

  • Publication number: 20110090238
Abstract: Black level calibration methods and systems are generally disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method of calibrating a black level signal in a frame includes performing an iteration of averaging a first set of digital values corresponding to a first set of adjusted black level signals associated with a first set of black pixels of the frame, determining whether an average value based on the first set of digital values has reached a target black level, determining a calibration offset based on a difference between the average value and the target black level and an accumulator step, converting the calibration offset to an analog signal, generating a calibration signal based on the analog signal for a second set of black pixels of the frame, and repeating the iteration for the frame until a predetermined condition is determined to have been met.

  • Patent number: 7930198
Abstract: A method for scheduling a project such as the inspection and maintenance of a gas turbine utilizes a branch and bound technique for arriving at a solution. The branch and bound technique is improved by using an all-pair longest path algorithm in preprocessing to tighten the set of possible start times of the tasks. That set is further tightened by considering two-forbidden-task pairs; i.e., pairs of tasks that cannot execute at the same time due to conflicting resource needs. A hard lower bound of a branch is determined by using all-pair longest path update and two-forbidden-task pair update, reducing the need to recalculate.
