Abstract: A mat or mat-pre-form hybrid for use in an exhaust gas treatment device, such as catalytic converters and diesel particulate traps that are used in automotive exhaust systems. The mat or hybrid may be used as a mounting mat to mount a fragile monolith within an outer housing of an exhaust gas treatment device or as thermal insulation in an end cone of the exhaust gas treatment device.

Abstract: Described are techniques for determining an implemented data protection policy. One or more recovery points corresponding to each of one or more storage objects are determined. A data protection method determined in accordance with a facility and replication type associated with said each recovery point is selected for each of said one or more recovery points. A data protection category for each of said one or more recovery points is determined in accordance with said data protection method, a recovery point type, and a recovery point location associated with said each recovery point. A data protection policy indicating an implemented data protection policy for each of said one or more storage objects for at least one data protection category is stored.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, described herein is an apparatus that comprises a user interface, a communication interface, and logic coupled to the user interface and communication interface. The logic is configured to receiving a request via the user interface to forward a message to a recipient to determine whether distribution of the message is restricted to a group. The logic is further configured to determine whether the recipient is a member of the group responsive to determining distribution of the message restricted to a group. The logic is configured to send the message to the recipient via the communication interface responsive to determining the recipient is a member of the group.

Abstract: Techniques for storing and manipulating tabular data are provided. According to one embodiment, a user may control whether tabular data is stored in row-level or column-major format. Furthermore, the user may control the level of data compression to achieve an optimal balance between query performance and compression ratios. Tabular data from within the same table may be stored in both column-major and row-major format and compressed at different levels. In addition, tabular data can migrate between column-major format and row-major format in response to various events. For example, in response to a request to update or lock a row stored in column-major format, the row may be migrated and subsequently stored into row-major format. In one embodiment, table partitions are used to enhance data compression techniques. For example, compression tests are performed on a representative table partition, and a compression map is generated and applied to other table partitions.

Abstract: Embodiments for targeting information to a website visitor are disclosed. One method includes collecting behavioral data of a plurality of users from a plurality of websites. The collected behavioral data is analyzed. For this embodiment, analyzing the collected behavior data includes clustering the collected behavioral data according to behavioral factors wherein collected behavioral data within each cluster include at least one common statistic, and collected behavioral data of different clusters have at least one differentiating statistic. Further, a server collects present user data while a present user is visiting a target website. The present user data is matched with at least one of the clusters of behavior factors based on a comparative analysis of the present user data with the clustered behavior factors.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for pre-performing operations for accessing protected content. Cryptographic user key pairs can be pre-generated and distributed in response to a variety of different events prior to provisioning client machine for accessing protected content. Usage licenses can be pre-generated and allocated prior to requests for usage licenses. Usage licenses can be pre-obtained for client machines prior to client machines access protected content. Pre-performed operations can be performed in response to detected events, such as, for example, reduced resource consumption in a Digital Rights Management system.

Abstract: A tri-core architecture for reducing MAC layer processing latency at the base stations is described. The new architecture minimizes the processing delay by introducing a pipelined approach. The fundamental concept involves splitting the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer functionality into three distinct tasks, with each processor performing a given task. All tasks will be thus performed concurrently, avoiding much of the overhead encountered while processing received packets and preparing packets to be transmitted.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system for process control has two operating modes: normal mode and active procedure mode, with automatic transition between them. In normal mode, the operating system, firewall and anti-virus are fully operational. When entering a time-critical phase of a process, a process control application signals the operating system and utilities, whereupon transition to active procedure mode automatically occurs, in which access by the system services and by other applications to the resources of the computer is selectively limited in favor of the process control application. Upon completion of the procedure, the system automatically returns to normal mode.

Abstract: A time-to-breakdown for a dielectric layer in a semiconductor device is determined based upon a sudden change in capacitance. An alternating voltage, greater in magnitude than an operating voltage of the device, is applied to the semiconductor device, capacitance is measured across the dielectric layer during the application of the voltage until a sudden change in capacitance occurs, thereby indicating a breakdown in the dielectric layer, and the breakdown time is scaled to the operating voltage.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving label data that indicates all interface labels that belong to each path ID of multiple path IDs associated with corresponding multiple paths between provider edge nodes in a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network. Each interface label is associated with a network interface on a node in the MPLS network. Based on the label data, an untested list that holds data that indicates all unique interface labels is generated. A tested interface selected from the untested list is scheduled for testing. After scheduling, the interface label of the tested interface is removed from the untested list. It is determined whether the untested list still includes data for at least one interface label. If not, then a test of the MPLS network is completed without testing every path end to end, thus conserving network resources.

Abstract: Ads play an important role in enhancing the market reach of the products. Televisions are one of the major targets for advertising to reach mass market. With the advent of the Internet, video on demand mode of delivering content, to a variety of devices such as personal computers and mobile phones, has become a possibility. New ad targeting opportunities arise when the multitude of technologies are combined. One of the aspects of ad targeting, to keep the viewers' attention focused on ads, is to “beat the expectations.” A system and method to help in keeping viewers' attention focused on ads involves randomly selecting an ad to be displayed using a randomly selected ad display model at a randomly selected time interval during the course of watching of content. Further, a viewer's attention on ads gets enhanced when the randomly selected ads are appropriate from the point of view of the content being watched.

Abstract: Improved methods of forming a patterned self-assembled monolayer on a surface and derivative articles are provided. According to one method, an elastomeric stamp is deformed during and/or prior to using the stamp to print a self-assembled molecular monolayer on a surface. According to another method, during monolayer printing the surface is contacted with a liquid that is immiscible with the molecular monolayer-forming species to effect controlled reactive spreading of the monolayer on the surface. Methods of printing self-assembled molecular monolayers on nonplanar surfaces and derivative articles are provided, as are methods of etching surfaces patterned with self-assembled monolayers, including methods of etching silicon. Optical elements including flexible diffraction gratings, mirrors, and lenses are provided, as are methods for forming optical devices and other articles using lithographic molding.

Abstract: An invention is provided for wear leveling in a non-volatile memory system utilizing relative wear counters to indicate relative levels of wear for each memory block in a non-volatile memory system. Whenever a memory block is erased, the associated relative wear counter is incremented. Then, when any relative wear counter reaches a predetermined limit, the value of the lowest relative wear counter is subtracted from each relative wear counter. Thus, each relative wear counter indicates a relative wear level of the associated memory block relative to other memory blocks. In this manner, the relative wear levels are maintained while reducing the amount of memory needed to for each relative wear counter.

Abstract: Provided are butt welds and methods of making such butt welds using a combination of fusion root welding and friction stir welding to yield welds with decreased propensity for dropout during friction stir welding without the need for a back-up support plate. In one form of the present disclosure, the butt weld includes: two or more abutting structural steel components beveled on faying surfaces on one side of the components to form a suitably shaped fusion root weld groove and unbeveled on faying surfaces on the opposite side of the components and interconnected with a first fusion root weld on the beveled side of the components and a second friction stir weld on the unbeveled side of the components, wherein the first fusion root weld has a width ranging from 7 mm to 30 mm, a penetration depth ranging from 2 mm to 20 mm, and an overfill ranging from 2 mm to 5 mm, and wherein the stir zone of the second friction stir weld penetrates the first fusion root weld.
