  • Patent number: 7870523
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for resolving a test generation problem involving constraint resolution problems where a verification environment includes constraints that are suitable for resolution using one type of solver for a first domain and other constraints that are suitable for resolution using a different solver in a second domain. The invention further comprises variables and, in instances where at least one variable is in each of the first and second domains, using these solvers to restrict the set of permissible values of variables to be consistent in multiple domains, preferably in all relevant domains. A constraint resolution problem is divided into clusters of constraints connected within a domain, and connected clusters of clusters that are connected through shared variables that are subject to constraints in more than one cluster.

  • Publication number: 20110001794
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to capture a digital 3D image of a portion of a subject's body. The systems and methods may be effective under static or dynamic conditions, either under the weight of a load or under non-weighted conditions. The system includes a grid of intersecting, flexible fibers arranged so as to achieve a variable surface contour. The surface contour of the grid conforms to and matches the surface contour of the subject when the grid covers a portion of the subject (i.e. residual limb, or deformity to correct). The coordinates of each point of intersection of two or more flexible fibers of the grid is recorded and produces a signal that generates a digital 3D image corresponding to the surface contour of the subject. The method includes covering a portion of the subject (i.e. residual limb or deformity to correct) with a grid of intersecting, flexible fibers and generating a digital three dimensional image.

  • Publication number: 20110003252
Abstract: A method for electron beam nanolithography without the need for development step involves depositing a film of a resist comprising functionalized fullerenes on a substrate, and writing features by exposure to an electron beam with an accelerating voltage and dose rate sufficient to promote heating or thermal degradation of the functionalized fullerene in the irradiated volume such that a pattern is generated without a subsequent development step or with an aqueous developer. Lithographic features of about 1 nm or greater can be formed.

  • Patent number: 7865857
Abstract: Features are provided for graphically representing constraints on design objects in an Electronic Design Automation tool. A particular constraint on one or more circuit objects is displayed as a highlighted region that extends to each visible circuit object to which the constraint applies. Attributes of the highlighted region, such as density and thickness, may proportionally represent attributes of the constraint, such as a strength or distance specified by the constraint. The highlighted region is superimposed on or around circuit objects. The highlighted region may be a halo, which is a partially transparent region filled with a color. Multiple regions that represent the same type of constraint or relationship are connected by line segments, providing the ability to visualize groups of constrained objects, including groups that span levels of a hierarchical design. Intersecting highlighted regions are blended together using techniques such as alpha blending.

  • Patent number: 7864492
Abstract: In accordance with one aspect the present disclosure is directed toward a method for detecting arc faults on a power line. The method may include monitoring power signals associated with a power line and filtering the power signals to produce a high frequency signal and a low frequency signal. A mask signal may generated based on the low frequency signal, and the high frequency signal may be analyzed to extract a broadband portion of the high frequency signal. A fault counter may be incremented if the magnitude of the broadband portion is approximately greater than a first threshold level. A fault counter may be decremented if the magnitude of the broadband portion is approximately less than the first threshold level. A trip signal is provided to a switching device associated with the power line if the fault counter exceeds a predetermined fault limit.

Abstract: Footwear includes a support member having an upper surface attachable to a foot, and two bulbous protuberances, a forward bulbous protuberance and rearward bulbous protuberance. Each of the protuberances has a curved outer contour, and protrudes from a lower surface of the support member on opposite sides of a latitudinal midline thereof, the latitudinal midline being halfway between a calcaneus support portion and a phalanges support portion of the support member. The forward bulbous protuberance is positioned medially offset with respect to a longitudinal centerline.

  • Publication number: 20100327344
Abstract: The present inventors have realized that manufacturability plays into optimization of power semiconductor devices in some surprising new ways. If the process window is too narrow, the maximum breakdown voltage will not be achieved due to doping variations and the like normally seen in device fabrication. Thus, among other teachings, the present application describes some ways to improve the process margin, for a given breakdown voltage specification, by actually reducing the maximum breakdown voltage. In one class of embodiments, this is done by introducing a vertical gradation in the density of fixed electrostatic charge, or in the background doping of the drift region, or both. Several techniques are disclosed for achieving this.

  • Publication number: 20100332671
Abstract: The interfacing of coded media data packets in the transfer from and to a peer-to-peer network envisages that the data packets are included in groups of packets that may have lengths different from one another. Each group of data packets is encapsulated in a group of chunks of given length. The media data is made available in the network as a multiplicity of different descriptions of a multiple-description coding of one and the same media content. The terminals of the peer-to-peer network are configured for accessing selectively the multiplicity of different descriptions of said media contents, combining them with one another, or else accessing one of the different descriptions in substitution for another preserving access to the media contents. The data may be made available as base layer and at least one enhancement layer of one and the same media content.

  • Patent number: 7860982
Abstract: Verification of Internet connectivity using multiple prior connection attempts to Internet destination(s). The Internet destinations may be destinations that have high reliability and that do not easily have intermediating systems that might deny a connection request. Such an Internet destination might be, for example, root Domain Name Server (DNS) servers. Connection attempt results are obtained by for at least some of the connection attempts, tracking which resulted in success and failure. Internet connectivity is then verified based on the collective results, rather than relying on any one single connection attempt. In one embodiment, the frequency of the connection attempts may depend on a current state of the Internet connection.
