Abstract: Systems and methods can provide bandwidth sharing and statistical multiplexing between video and data streams. In some implementations, such systems and methods can associate and allocate input data streams to enable prioritization logic and parameters. Such systems and methods can multiplex on a per-packet basis and/or over a transmission interval T. The multiplexing function can then combines with varying optimization methods such as bandwidth sharing, statistical multiplexing, channel bonding, and rate shaping, thereby increasing efficiency while maintaining quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE).

Abstract: An imaging system, including a capsule, configured to enter an esophagus of a patient, having an ultrasonic transducer configured to image tissue of the patient. The system further includes an applicator tube configured to enter the esophagus, the tube being attachable to the capsule for positioning the capsule within the esophagus, and being detachable from the capsule after positioning of the capsule so as to permit the tube to be withdrawn from the esophagus while the capsule remains in position in the esophagus.

Abstract: A device for amplifying multiple signals includes a plurality of sensors, where a plurality of lead signals are derived from the plurality of sensors, a plurality of low-pass filter and buffer amplifiers for filtering and buffering the plurality of lead signals, one or more multiplexers, where outputs from the plurality of low-pass filter and buffer amplifiers are input to one of the one or more multiplexers, a single amplifier channel, where the outputs of the one or more multiplexers are input to the single amplifier channel and a microcontroller which controls the one or more multiplexers, wherein the microcontroller stores software which selects, in sequence, one at a time, one out of each of the lead signals to be connected to inputs of the single amplifier channel, wherein the single amplifier channel amplifies all of the lead signals. The single amplifier channel has a software programmable AC response.

Abstract: User activity tracking on personal cellular telecommunications devices including a User Interaction Software Module (UISM) for data handling of display message information and user interaction information regarding user interaction with display messages. The UISMs enable handset side or network side determining user impressions of instantaneously displayed display messages. The UISMs include onboard instruction sets including destination dependent data handling instructions for user click information. Onboard instruction sets can operate in conjunction with display component embedded instruction sets regarding data logging and data reporting of display message information and/or user impression information and/or user click information.

Abstract: A bumper system includes an injection molded energy absorber of polymeric material having hollow longitudinally-spaced lobes configured to crush and absorb energy during a pedestrian impact, and straps interconnecting adjacent lobes. The lobes are particularly sized and dimensioned, including potentially external ribs and/or apertures in corners, to provide a relatively uniform impact energy absorption during an impact stroke during crush of the shear walls of the lobes, such as within +/?30% or more preferably within +/?20% of a desired amount regardless of a specific location of impact, along a selected center portion of the energy absorber. A reason for the uniformity is to promote pedestrian safety regardless of the specific location where a pedestrian's leg strikes the energy absorber.

Abstract: According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for reorganizing a source index tree of a database table resulting in a target index tree of the database table is provided. A backup process reads source leaf pages of the source index tree in a logical order defined by a sequence of index keys. The logical order can be different from a physical order of the source leaf pages defined by a sequence of respective storage locations. The backup process constructs target leaf pages of the target index tree maintaining the logical order. A restore process constructs target non-leaf pages of the target index tree based on the distribution of the index keys among the constructed leaf pages and stores the target leaf and non-leaf pages.

Abstract: Microprobes in various designs are provided including microprobes having a bulk base and a thin probe extending from the bulk base and a Wheatstone-bridge sensor circuit for measuring strain in the thin probe, and microprobes with two thin probes extending from the bulk base with their respective integrated Wheatstone-bridges to eliminate common mode forces experienced by the two thin probes.

Abstract: A network inference and validation engine is presented which combines data of different types into a network associations' inference and performs validation of existing networks based on constraints from several data sets or previously known linkages. The engine would assist scientists to integrate information from various sources into a network of association, validate previously known associations against the supplied constraint data sets and prune or modify existing connections based on subsequent experiments.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a multi-tap integrated transformer may include one or more windings, wherein each of the one or more windings include at least one pair of primary taps for receiving at least one differential input signal, a first pair of secondary taps for outputting a first output signal, and a second pair of secondary taps for outputting a second output signal. The first and second output signals may be based on the at least one differential input signal and a mutual inductance between portions of the one or more windings associated with the at least one pair of primary taps, the first pair of secondary taps, and the second pair of secondary taps.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for controlling a computing device. The behavior of a user of a computing device is observed when the computing device is connected to each of a plurality of networks. A profile is automatically maintained for each of the networks. Each profile contains one or more predefined actions to be performed when the computing device is connected to the corresponding network. The predefined actions are based on the observed behavior. The predefined actions that are recorded in the automatically generated profile and based on the observed behavior can be automatically triggered when the computing device is connected to the network associated with the profile.

Abstract: A highly flexible and extensible structure is provided for physically storing tabular data. The structure, referred to as a compression unit, may be used to store tabular data that logically resides in any type of table-like structure. According to one embodiment, compression units are recursive. Thus, a compression unit may have a “parent” compression unit to which it belongs, and may have one or more “child” compression units that belong to it. In one embodiment, compression units include metadata that indicates how the tabular data is stored within them. The metadata for a compression unit may indicate, for example, whether the data is stored in row-major or column major-format the order of the columns within the compression unit (which may differ from the logical order of the columns dictated by the definition of their logical container), a compression technique for the compression unit, the child compression units (if any), etc.

Abstract: Massively multiplayer network games are fast becoming prevalent all over Internet. Servers that support such network games demand huge computing and storage infrastructure. Storage associated with game servers store game related information as well game-instance related information. Game states provide all the information about a game being played and storing them provides an opportunity to continue the game after a pause. An effective representation of game states allows for reduced demand on the storage. An efficient approach for archiving of game states is discussed.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems for wireless communication generate signals by determining whether legacy devices are within a proximal region of the wireless communication. When at least one legacy device is within the proximal region, a frame is formatted to include a preamble field, a signal field, and a data field. Further, the uncoded bits are encoded according to a coding format. The coding format is determined according to bits in the preamble and applicable sub-field lengths.

Abstract: An arrangement of interleavers allocates bits from an input symbol across sub-symbols transmitted via sub-carriers of multiple orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) carriers. The input bits are allocated in a fashion to provide separation across subcarriers, and rotation of sub-symbols across the OFDM carriers provides additional robustness in the present of signal path impairments.

The method may comprise creating a map indicating a plurality of locations of application instruction sections within instructions of a computer software application. The method may further comprise inserting a plurality of instrumentation sections into the computer software application instructions. The method may also comprise updating the map to indicate the locations of the instrumentation sections within the computer software application instructions, where the indications in the map of the locations of the instrumentation sections are distinguishable from the indications in the map of the locations of the application instruction sections.

An extensible presence document is employed, as transmitted by the publisher, that contains specific information about the capabilities of the publisher endpoint and preferences that are for the publisher overall. The document is aggregated, and the aggregated capabilities are transmitted to watchers. The watchers render this information in a user experience.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for enhancing a video conference break. The method can be implemented on any or all participants' client device or on a network-based device. A client-side system configured to practice the method detects, at a client device of a participant in a video conference, a beginning of a break in the video conference, gathers information describing a current status of the video conference, and displays, at the client device of the participant, the information. A network-based system maintains a current status of a video conference connecting a group of client devices, monitors the video conference to detect a beginning of a break, and, when the beginning of the break is detected, transmits at least part of the current status to each of the group of client devices for display to respective users of the group of client devices.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to securing mixed-mode applications in a semi-trusted environment. In an embodiment, a computer system securely loads native data files associated with a mixed-mode application. The secure loading ensures that the native components upon which the managed component depends are authentic. The computer system implements a securely stored handle associated with the loaded native data files to provide secure communications between the managed component and the loaded native data files. The handle provides a trusted function pointer to an associated mixed-mode application function. The computer system also initiates a security permission request for each resource that is passed to the native components during execution of the mixed-mode application, so that each resource is verified before execution.
