  • Patent number: 10188434
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved structure for an interspinous stabilization device that more evenly distributes loads throughout the adjacent vertebrae than known interspinous stabilization devices, and further readily compensates for graft settling so as to maintain continued axial loading of the graft. More specifically, this invention relates to a medical device that helps in performing a spinal fusion procedure by holding the bone graft in place and stabilizing the facet screw by a plate that is attached to it. The invention also performs a dynamic function that compensates for settling of the bone graft over time. This dynamic function may, if desired, be enhanced by a movement-limiting mechanism that allows extension but not flexion such that the bone graft fusion remains in contact and fusion takes place.

  • Publication number: 20180271423
Abstract: A biosensor device for the real-time detection of a target analyte includes a receptor component operatively connected to a transducer component which is adapted to interpret and transmit a detectable signal. The receptor component includes a sensing element capable of detecting and binding to at least one target analyte, and a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) layer. The SAM layer is positioned between and in contact with the sensing element and an electrode such that the sensing element, in the presence of the target analyte, causes a detectable signal capable of being transmitted to the electrode. The SAM layer may include an anti-fouling agent. The transducer component includes an electrode (or set of electrodes that includes a working electrode) and microprocessor configured to screen noise and to pick up a detectable signal, such as impedance change at a very low frequency range.

  • Patent number: 10073944
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for context aware clock tree synthesis (CTS). A probability value can be computed for each clock sink in the set of clock sinks, wherein each probability value represents a probability that the corresponding clock sink has a critical clock latency. Next, the set of clock sinks can be clustered into a set of clock sink clusters based on the probability values. An optimization goal for each clock sink cluster can be selected, and an optimized subtree can be constructed for each clock sink cluster based on the selected optimization goal. The synthesized clock tree can be obtained by combining the optimized subtrees.

  • Patent number: 10064972
Abstract: Compositions of, methods of making, and methods of using alkaline earth phosphate bone cements are disclosed. A bone cement composition includes a powder comprising a basic source of calcium, magnesium, or strontium, a setting solution comprising H3PO4 and a buffer, and a biocompatible polymer that is incorporated into the setting solution. The powder is mixed with the setting solution to form a bone cement paste that either (a) sets into a hardened mass, or (b) is irradiated with electromagnetic radiation to form dry powders, the dry powders then being mixed with a second setting solution to form a radiation-assisted bone cement paste that sets into a hardened mass.

  • Publication number: 20180191759
Abstract: A system for monitoring data-access behavior is provided. The system may derive a behavioral pattern based on at least one of historic data access by a user or expected data access by the user. The system may also generate a behavioral model for the user based on the behavioral pattern for the user. In response to detecting a data access activity by the user, the system may compare the data access activity to the behavioral model to determine the data access activity is unusual for the user. The system may further trigger a remediation action in response to determining the data access activity is unusual for the user.

  • Patent number: 9968377
Abstract: A growth rod distraction system a domino having first and second bores provided therein. First and second spinal rods are respectively disposed within the first and second bores for movement relative to the domino. First and second spur gears are disposed within the domino and respectively cooperate with the first and second growth rods such that rotation of the spur gears causes axial movements of the growth rods relative to the domino. The spinal rods may be formed either from a flexible polymer material (such as a PEEK, carbon fiber PEEK, PEAK, or similar medical grade polymer material) or a hybrid combination of such flexible polymer material and a metallic material (such as nitinol or similar medical grade metallic material). The spinal rods can also be used for fusion or non-fusion surgery of the spine to stabilize two or more vertebrae.

  • Publication number: 20170364641
Abstract: Methods, computer-readable media, and systems for providing disease management. In one implementation, a system develops a treatment recommendation for a patient based on patient data. The system may receive patient data, execute a basic model of the physiological system of the patient to generate a modified model for the patient based on the patient data, perform a statistical analysis of the patient data to detect data excursions of the parameter values; use the modified model to determine factors causing the data excursions; and use the model to develop a treatment recommendation to ameliorate negative effects of the disease.

  • Patent number: 9842593
Abstract: Predetermined services are provided using preset instructions. A transcript of audible content provided over an electronic network and received at a communications device is analyzed to determine whether a trigger is present in the audible content. When the trigger is present in the audible content, preset instructions correlated with the trigger and instructing how to provide a predetermined service are identified. The predetermined service is provided by following the preset instructions.

  • Publication number: 20170196702
Abstract: A metering delivery apparatus for injecting bone graft cement includes a body portion, a material containment vessel, an actuator, and a control unit. The body portion includes a drive housing that supports an actuator drivetrain and receiver end that supports the material containment vessel. The actuator has a first end connected to the actuator drivetrain and a second end that supports a moveable portion of the vessel to dispense material in the vessel and a retracting movement that relieves pressure applied to the material. The control unit receives actuator parameter inputs and includes a sensor to detect a signal of at least one of a pressure level and a time period. The sensor provides the detected signal to the control unit such that the control unit operates the actuator between the dispensing and retracting movements based on the detected signal and the actuator parameter inputs.
