  • Publication number: 20190386734
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for adapting which beam to use for reception of signals. A method is performed by a receiving radio transceiver device. The receiving radio transceiver device is capable of receiving the signals using at least one beam selected from a set of beams. Each beam in the set of beams has a backup beam. The method includes receiving signals from a transmitting radio transceiver device while using a first beam selected from the set of beams. Signal receipt at a decreasing quality level while using the first beam is detected. The decreasing quality level is caused by interfering transmission from another transmitting radio transceiver device. In response thereto, a temporary switch to the backup beam of the first beam is initiated, without performing any beam training, for continued reception of signals from the transmitting radio transceiver device.

  • Publication number: 20190260406
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a receiving device for handling signalling in a wireless communication network. The receiving device measures a strength, or a complex amplitude, of one or more signals over a signal path to a transmitting device, which measured strength or complex amplitude forms a signal pattern over a time. Furthermore, the receiving device matches the signal pattern with a stored signal pattern and, if the signal pattern matches the stored signal pattern, the receiving device determines whether an object will block the signal path between the receiving device and the transmitting device.

  • Patent number: 10194322
Abstract: A method in a network node for handling a transmission between a plurality of Transmission Points, TPs, and User Equipments, UEs, in a wireless network. The network node receives information from each respective UE out of a number of first UEs served by the network node, which information is related to the location of the UE. The network node then identifies a hot spot, based on the information received from the UEs. The hot spot is an area where the load density of UEs is above a first threshold. When a hot spot is defined the network node selects a plurality of TPs dedicated to serve the UEs 130 located in the hot spot and establishes a coordinated transmission mode from the plurality of dedicated TPs to the UEs located in the hot spot.

  • Patent number: 10050734
Abstract: A method performed by a network node for enabling Interference Alignment, IA, of transmissions to user equipments is provided. The network node receives signal strength values associated with more than one network node for the user equipments, wherein each signal strength value is associated with one network node. Then, the network node schedules a first group of the user equipments on radio transmission resources that are orthogonal to radio transmission resources of at least one other group of the user equipments when an IA gain value for each user equipment in the first group passes a threshold level. The IA gain value is determined by the network node based on the received signal strength values. The network node may then enable IA of transmissions to the scheduled first group of user equipments from at least two network nodes capable of performing IA of transmissions.

  • Patent number: 10021702
Abstract: A radio network resource controller directs a first network node associated with a first cell region, or a wireless terminal in communication through the first cell region, to measure and report radio resource-related data selected from the group consisting of: resource activity per channel; the number of transmitted power samples that exceed a threshold over a measurement period; and, channel quality samples that exceed a quality threshold. The controller then receives at least one measurement report of the radio resource-related data and, as a function of the radio resource-related data in the first cell region, dynamically reallocates the distribution of resources, such as radio-frequency channels, between the first cell region and at least a second cell region. The invention has a particular advantage in TDD mode of operation where efficient and dynamic interference mitigation is needed to combat the inherent mobile-to-mobile and base station-to-base station interference.

  • Patent number: 9871619
Abstract: In one aspect of the teachings herein, a probability distribution is determined for the prediction errors determined from the differences between predicted and measured values of a quality parameter for a radio link between first and second radio nodes in a wireless communication system. In turn, the probability distribution is used to identify a prediction error value on which a link adaptation margin estimate is based, and the link adaptation margin estimate is provided for use in performing link adaptation, e.g., for use as a “back off” value for the predicted values of radio link quality which are used to make link adaptation decisions.

  • Patent number: 9832780
Abstract: According to embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a radio base station (20) and a corresponding method for estimating the quality of the uplink control channel. The method comprises measuring (32, 42) a quality parameter of the uplink data channel, and using (38, 50) this to estimate the quality of the uplink control channel. In one embodiment, measurements of the uplink control channel are taken and their reliability determined. If the reliability is low (i.e. below a threshold, or below the respective measurements taken on the uplink data channel), then measurements on the data channel are used instead of those made on the control channel to estimate the control channel quality.
