  • Publication number: 20150119099
Abstract: A user equipment is provided for a telecommunications system comprising at least a first radio base station. The user equipment controls its transmission power to a first value for a first set of one or more signals sent over a physical channel between the user equipment and the first radio base station, and to a second value for a second set of one or more signals sent over the physical channel between the user equipment and the first radio base station. The first value and said second value are different. In alternative embodiments, the second set of signals are transmitted taking into account information from the serving cell and a neighbouring cell, while the first set of signals are transmitted taking into account information from the serving cell only.

  • Patent number: 9008200
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) receives a radio signal which includes a time-frequency grid of radio resource elements. A UE detector measures a signal quality parameter associated with a subset of the radio resource elements in the time-frequency grid. The subset of the radio resource elements is less than a total number of the radio resource elements in the time-frequency grid and corresponds to an individual radio channel. Radio circuitry in the UE reports to a network node the signal quality parameter measured for the subset of the radio resource elements in the time-frequency grid to enable an operation related, for example, to the individual radio channel.

  • Patent number: 9002398
Abstract: A method in a wireless network containing a first node and an adjacent second node for determining an uplink received power target value of the second node to be used by a user equipment which is to be served by the second node includes establishing the uplink received power target value of the first node. The method also includes obtaining the downlink power capacity of the first node and obtaining the downlink power capacity of the second node. Additionally, the method includes calculating the difference in downlink power capacity between the first node and the second node and determining the uplink received power target value of the second node based on the calculated difference in downlink power capacity between the nodes and the established uplink received power target value of the first node.

  • Publication number: 20150049629
Abstract: In one aspect of the teachings herein, a probability distribution is determined for the prediction errors determined from the differences between predicted and measured values of a quality parameter for a radio link between first and second radio nodes in a wireless communication system. In turn, the probability distribution is used to identify a prediction error value on which a link adaptation margin estimate is based, and the link adaptation margin estimate is provided for use in performing link adaptation, e.g., for use as a “back off” value for the predicted values of radio link quality which are used to make link adaptation decisions.

  • Patent number: 8953480
Abstract: Method and arrangement in a network entity for supporting link adaptation in a wireless communication system. The method comprises obtaining 204 one or more predicted parameters related to the quality of a radio link. The method further comprises measuring 206 one or more actual parameters, corresponding to the one or more predicted parameters. The method further comprises deriving 208 one or more error distributions based on the difference between the predicted and actual one or more parameters, from which error distributions a link adaptation margin estimate is derived, based on a predetermined radio link quality target. The link adaptation margin estimate is then used for supporting link adaptation for the radio link.

  • Patent number: 8942758
Abstract: For uplink cooperation of a serving access node (100-1) one or more supporting access nodes (100-2) are selected. The selection is based on a characteristic of a link between a terminal (200) served by the serving access node (100-1) and the supporting access node (100-2), or is based on a characteristic of a link between a further terminal (200?) served by the supporting access node (100-2) and the serving access node (100-1). The characteristics of the links may comprise a signal quality, e.g. a path gain, a signal strength, or a latency. The characteristics of the links may also comprise scheduling information, e.g. time resources and/or frequency resources used on the link.

  • Publication number: 20140187243
Abstract: A base station (BS) and method for controlling handover in a wireless communication system. The BS serves a first cell in a first cell layer overlapping with a second cell layer, and the first cell has a different distribution of configured amounts of uplink and downlink resources than a second cell in the second cell layer. The BS monitors amounts of uplink and downlink resources utilized by a user equipment (UE) in the first cell and adjusts at least one parameter controlling handover of the UE to the second cell based on the resources utilized by the UE, and on information regarding configured amounts of uplink and downlink resources in the first and second cells. This increases the likelihood that the UE will be served by one of the first and second cells in which the configured amounts of resources better matches the amounts of resources utilized by the UE.
