  • Publication number: 20110256877
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a mechanism for controlling a repeater that is less costly and more flexible. The objective is achieved by a method in a control unit (150) for controlling a repeater (100) being comprised in a radio access network (110). The control unit sends a repeater control message to the repeater (100). The repeater control message is tunneled as ordinary data communication via an available radio communication channel (160) within the radio access network (110). The repeater control message is configured to control the repeater (100).

  • Publication number: 20110242990
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a radio base station (4) which actively monitor the error rate for messages transmitted over an uplink control channel between the radio base station (4) and one or more mobile terminals (6). The distribution of messages transmitted on the uplink control channel is then adapted in dependence on the measured error rate.

  • Publication number: 20110244905
Abstract: According to embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a radio base station (20) and a corresponding method for estimating the quality of the uplink control channel. The method comprises measuring (32, 42) a quality parameter of the uplink data channel, and using (38, 50) this to estimate the quality of the uplink control channel. In one embodiment, measurements of the uplink control channel are taken and their reliability determined. If the reliability is low (i.e. below a threshold, or below the respective measurements taken on the uplink data channel), then measurements on the data channel are used instead of those made on the control channel to estimate the control channel quality.

  • Publication number: 20110230200
Abstract: A system includes a first device (110) to classify data as one of a control message or a non-control message, and provide the classification of the data to a second device (122). The second device (122) receives the classification of the data, receives information associated with a resource (460), calculates an expected interference associated with the resource (460) based on the information associated with the resource (460), and allocates, to the resource (460), data classified as a control message when the expected interference corresponds to a low expected interference.

  • Publication number: 20110218010
Abstract: For uplink cooperation of a serving access node (100-1) one or more supporting access nodes (100-2) are selected. The selection is based on a characteristic of a link between a terminal (200) served by the serving access node (100-1) and the supporting access node (100-2), or is based on a characteristic of a link between a further terminal (200?) served by the supporting access node (100-2) and the serving access node (100-1). The characteristics of the links may comprise a signal quality, e.g. a path gain, a signal strength, or a latency. The characteristics of the links may also comprise scheduling information, e.g. time resources and/or frequency resources used on the link.

  • Patent number: 7899484
Abstract: Methods for downlink power control in wireless communication systems are provided. In response to a transmitter power change request from a mobile terminal (110) over a wireless connection, a base station (122) determines a power control parameter based on its current total transmitter power PDL. The power control parameter preferably relates to a maximum connection-specific transmitter power, a power step size and/or a power increase probability, and is used by the base station to distribute transmitter power pi to the connection.

  • Publication number: 20100177721
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for use in a user equipment (10), and relates to a user equipment (10) for enabling a serving base station (40) to estimate interference contribution in a network when scheduling resources for the use equipment. According to the method, the user equipment determines an amount of resources required to send data and the user equipment sends a report to it serving base station when the required amount of resources is greater than a threshold value. In the report, measurements performed by the user equipment are included. The report will assist the serving base station with its estimation of the degree of interference user equipments generates in the network, and hence the power and resources to assign.
