  • Patent number: 9916572
Abstract: A method, programmed medium and system are provided for using a payment card with an embedded RFID device. In one example, a cellular telephone or other wireless device is used to generate a one-time password (OTP), which is then transmitted by a read-write RFID in the wireless device to the read-write RFID which is embedded within a payment card. The user's phone or other wireless device then activates the writing of the OTP to the RFID of the payment card. The payment card, with the one time password now saved in the card, is then handed to the waiter or store clerk for payment approval and/or further processing. The user's OTP is then read by the merchant's RFID reader and transmitted to an approving agency/server for approval or disapproval of the user's purchase.

  • Publication number: 20170300424
Abstract: A method for managing metadata in a storage system is disclosed. The system includes a processor, a storage medium, a first metadata table that maps every data block's LBN to its unique content ID, and a second metadata table that maps every content ID to its PBN on the storage medium. During a data movement process, the processor is configured to determine the content ID of the data block and update its entry in the second metadata table without accessing the first metadata table. A method is also disclosed to reduce the size of the first metadata table. Only content ID is stored in the first metadata table and its LBN is determined by the metadata entry's relative position in the table. Metadata entries are stored in metadata blocks and deduplicated.

  • Publication number: 20170294252
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a method comprises ablating, by a laser set to a first power level, a first area of a polyimide base substrate and forming, by ablating the first area of the polyimide base substrate, a first carbonaceous material film comprising a first specific resistive value. The method further comprises ablating, by the laser set to a second power level, a second area of the polyimide base substrate and forming, by ablating the second area of the polyimide base substrate, a second carbonaceous material film comprising a second specific resistive value. • Patent number: 9672349
Abstract: A cloud service system may activate features or functionality based on agreement of at least two parties such as a system administrator and a compliance officer to mitigate compliance, security, or privacy impact on the service. The controllers may make the “enable feature” decision independently, but still have equal say in the outcome. In some examples, pre-established profiles may be provided to a controller such as a compliance officer to make decisions by selection on his/her behalf at a particular level of risk acceptance and/or to meet a particular regulatory standard/certification.

  • Publication number: 20170052863
Abstract: A compliance user or auditor is enabled to inject failures into a sandbox environment which maybe similar to a production service. The sandbox environment, may be monitored by the same automation that watches compliance controls in the production service. As the user injects compliance failures into the sandbox, they may detect the appropriate alerts fire in the monitoring system, thereby gaining trust that the monitoring works as it should. A rich report resulting from the test activities may allow the user or auditor to see how a failure of a compliance control leads to the expected monitoring alert.
