  • Patent number: 10195953
Abstract: A charging system charges a lithium battery of a utility vehicle. The charging system includes a receptacle configured to couple with an external charger, a lithium battery configured to provide lithium battery power to a set of electrical loads of the utility vehicle, and control circuitry coupled with the receptacle and the lithium battery. The control circuitry is configured to detect connection between the external charger and the receptacle and, in response to detecting connection between the external charger and the receptacle, ascertain a charging state of the lithium battery. The control circuitry is further configured to output, based on the charging state, a control signal to the external charger through the receptacle, the control signal being configured to control charging output from the external charger to charge the lithium battery.

  • Patent number: 10176117
Abstract: A method for managing metadata in a storage system is disclosed. The system includes a processor, a storage medium, a first metadata table that maps every data block's LBN to its unique content ID, and a second metadata table that maps every content ID to its PBN on the storage medium. During a data movement process, the processor is configured to determine the content ID of the data block and update its entry in the second metadata table without accessing the first metadata table. A method is also disclosed to reduce the size of the first metadata table. Only content ID is stored in the first metadata table and its LBN is determined by the metadata entry's relative position in the table. Metadata entries are stored in metadata blocks and deduplicated.

  • Publication number: 20180322019
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for backing up and restore a deployment on a cloud computing platform are described. A deployment on a cloud computing platform includes a set of virtual machines and corresponding disks. A deployment may include multiple subunits designated as deployment jobs. A respective job specification file specifies respective resources used by each deployment job. The resources include various scripts specifying actions to take before, during, and after a backup. A backup orchestrator, upon receiving a backup request for the deployment, executes the scripts in a pre-specified sequence ordered by script type. When a particular type of scripts executes, the corresponding script for each deployment job, if specified in the specification file to correspond to that type, executes. When all scripts of a particular type finish execution, scripts having a next type execute. Accordingly, the operations of backing up multiple deployment jobs are synchronized and orchestrated.

  • Publication number: 20180265095
Abstract: A method for providing safe-driving support of a vehicle includes obtaining occupant data and vehicle data received at a vehicle hub. The occupant data is related to an identity and health status of an occupant and the vehicle data is related to a status of the vehicle. The method also includes obtaining action data based on an application of the occupant data and vehicle data to a machine learning safe-driving model. The machine learning safe-driving model is associated with a user profile of the occupant that is identified from among a plurality of user profiles based on the occupant data. A server maintains a plurality of user profiles, each having a respective machine learning safe-driving model. The action data relates to an action to be performed by the vehicle while the occupant is located in the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180257492
Abstract: A technique controls charge on a lithium battery of a utility vehicle. The technique involves operating electronic circuitry of the utility vehicle in a normal operating mode in which the electronic circuitry charges the lithium battery to a normal charge level. The technique further involves, after operating the electronic circuity in the normal operating mode, transitioning the electronic circuitry from the normal operating mode to a storage mode in which the electronic circuitry is configured to set an amount of charge on the lithium battery to within a predefined storage range (or level) which is lower than the normal charge level. The technique further involves, in response to transitioning the electronic circuitry, adjusting the amount of charge on the lithium battery from an initial charge level which is outside the predefined storage range to an adjusted charge level which is within the predefined storage range.

  • Patent number: 10017169
Abstract: A motion control system controls movement of a utility vehicle. The motion control system includes an electric brake that (i) provides mechanical resistance which inhibits a motor of the utility vehicle from turning when the electric brake is unpowered and (ii) removes the mechanical resistance to allow the motor of the utility vehicle to turn when power is provided to the electric brake. The motion control system further includes a lithium BMS having a contactor that closes to provide electrical access to a lithium battery and opens to remove electrical access to the lithium battery. The motion control system further includes control circuitry coupled with the electric brake and the lithium BMS. The control circuitry directs the lithium BMS to maintain closure of the contactor to provide power from the lithium battery to the electric brake in response to receipt of a tow signal.

  • Publication number: 20180186316
Abstract: A battery management system (BMS) controls lithium battery access on a utility vehicle. The BMS includes a battery interface that couples with a lithium battery, a load interface that couples with a set of loads of the utility vehicle, and control circuitry coupled with the battery interface and the load interface. The control circuitry mechanically disconnects the battery interface from the load interface in response to a sleep event. Additionally, after the battery interface is mechanically disconnected from the load interface, the control circuitry mechanically reconnects the battery interface to the load interface in response to a wakeup event. Furthermore, after the battery interface is mechanically reconnected to the load interface, the control circuitry maintains connection between the battery interface and the load interface to convey power from the lithium battery to the set of loads of the utility vehicle through the battery interface and the load interface.

  • Publication number: 20180186241
Abstract: A control system for handling a fault condition on a utility vehicle includes a lithium battery, a contactor configured to control electrical access to the lithium battery, and control circuitry coupled with the lithium battery and the contactor. The control circuitry is configured to detect, while the contactor is closed to provide a set of loads of the utility vehicle with electrical access to the lithium battery, onset of a fault condition. The control circuitry is further configured to perform, in response to detection of the onset of the fault condition, a set of remedial operations to address the fault condition. The control circuitry is further configured to perform, after a predefined amount of time has elapsed since the onset of the fault condition, a subsequent operation which opens the contactor if the fault condition remains and maintains closure of the contactor if the fault condition does not remain.

  • Publication number: 20180081821
Abstract: A method for managing metadata in a scale out storage system is disclosed. The system includes a plurality of nodes, a storage pool, first metadata that maps logical addresses of logical data blocks to corresponding content, and second metadata that maps content identifiers to corresponding physical addresses of physical data blocks in the storage pool and maintains a reference count. During an add-a-node operation, the processors are configured to move from the existing nodes to the new node some of its physical data blocks, their content identifiers and reference counts in the second metadata without accessing or altering the first metadata. A method is also disclosed to move a logical device from one node to another by de-activating the logical device's first metadata on the first node and activating and retrieving the logical device's first metadata on the second node.

  • Patent number: 9916572
Abstract: A method, programmed medium and system are provided for using a payment card with an embedded RFID device. In one example, a cellular telephone or other wireless device is used to generate a one-time password (OTP), which is then transmitted by a read-write RFID in the wireless device to the read-write RFID which is embedded within a payment card. The user's phone or other wireless device then activates the writing of the OTP to the RFID of the payment card. The payment card, with the one time password now saved in the card, is then handed to the waiter or store clerk for payment approval and/or further processing. The user's OTP is then read by the merchant's RFID reader and transmitted to an approving agency/server for approval or disapproval of the user's purchase.
