  • Patent number: 4171590
Abstract: An assembly kit has a structural element having two elongated leg portions, and a hinge portion pivotally connecting the leg portions with one another in a direction of elongation thereof and together with the leg portions forming an integral member. Means is provided for connecting the structural element with another structural element. Two such structural elements may be located laterally adjacent to one another and connected with one another by a plate-like connecting piece which overlaps juxtaposed end sections of the structural element and is connected with the latter by the connecting means. Three such structural elements may be located relative to one another so as to form a substantially triangular hollow support element, and a substantially triangular connecting piece may be inserted in a hollow of the support element and connected with the structural elements by the connecting means.

  • Patent number: 4171591
Abstract: An assembly kit has a hollow structural element having at least one groove inwardly of a face thereof and open to the hollow of this structural element, and a recess communicating with the groove and open at the face of this structural element. Another structural element is positionable on the first-mentioned hollow structural element and has another groove which is smaller than the groove of the hollow structural element. A connecting element is provided, which has one portion insertable in the one groove of the hollow structural element, and another portion insertable in the other groove of the other structural element so as to connect the above structural elements with one another. The connecting element has also a third portion insertable in the recess of the hollow structural element so as to prevent the connecting element from moving inwardly of the hollow of the hollow structural element.

  • Patent number: 4169332
Abstract: A crank assembly has an elongated shaft member having two end portions spaced from one another in the direction of an axis of the shaft, one of which portions is provided with a transverse projection. Two structural members are provided adapted to be located at a respective end portion of the crank and to support the same. One of the structural members has an undercut groove and the other structural member has an opening provided with an enlargement in its circumference. The shaft member is insertable into the groove and through the opening so that it can rotate relative to the structural members about the axis of the shaft member. At the same time, the projection of the shaft member is arrestable against undesired rotation by axial displacement of the shaft member relative to the structural members until the projection of the former becomes lodged in the enlargement of the opening of the other structural member, whereby rotation of the shaft member is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4160337
Abstract: A hollow structural element for assembling a structure, has a hollow body part having an open side and being provided with means for connecting the body part with another structural element, and a cover insertable in the body part through the open side thereof. The cover is provided with at least one connecting element for connecting the same with a further structural element. The connecting element projects outwardly beyond a side margin of the cover and thereby forms a stop preventing the cover from excessive movement inwardly of the open side of the body part. Two such connecting elements may be arranged on the cover. The body part and the cover may be cup-shaped. The connecting means of the body part may be formed as undercut grooves and elongated undercut members. The connecting elements of the cover may also be formed as elongated undercut members.

  • Patent number: 4154311
Abstract: A drilling assembly includes a drilling tool having a shank and a drill bit at the leading end of the shank and having cutting edges. The assembly further includes a collar adjustably and arrestably mounted on the shank, and an abutment member having a central passage into which the tool element is received at least during terminal phase of the drilling operation. The collar has a convex contact surface, and the abutment member is formed with a depression bounded by a concave contact surface, the two contact surfaces sliding on one another when the tool element is pivoted to form an undercut hole in a support structure. The abutment member abuts against a surface of the support structure around the open end of the hole, and is prevented from rotating with the tool element either by pins which penetrate into the support structure, or by a layer of friction-retarding material, such as rubber, interposed between the abutment member and the surface of the support structure.

  • Patent number: 4121374
Abstract: A toy assembly kit includes a building block having an exposed surface, and an undercut male coupling element of one-piece with the block and projecting from the exposed surface. The male coupling element has a free end face and a predetermined length intermediate the latter and the exposed surface. A support plate is connectable with the block and has two substantially parallel major surfaces spaced apart at a distance which substantially corresponds to said predetermined length. The plate has wall portions bounding a slot which extends intermediate the major surfaces, and these wall portions include a pair of ridges at opposite sides of the slot. These ridges project into the slot at a location substantially midway between the major surfaces and bound a pair of undercut female coupling recesses in the slot. Each recess has a cross-sectional area dimensioned to receive the male coupling element and for thereby interconnecting the block and plate.

  • Patent number: 4109409
Abstract: A structural element, particularly for multi-element toy kits, includes an elongated circumferential wall which bounds an interior space and which has opposite ends. An end wall overlies one of the ends of the circumferential wall. The interior space is subdivided by two partitions. Each partition has side portions connectable with the circumferential wall, and an undercut coupling projection which projects from the respective partition. An elongated groove is formed at the end wall and has an open end at the circumferential wall. The groove is undercut complementarily to the projection for slidably receiving an undercut coupling projection of another structural element through the open end of the groove. The structural element may be made by injection molding.

  • Patent number: 4094054
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for securing an object to a low-strength support structure includes inserting an anchor member into an anchoring hole provided in the support structure with clearance. The anchor member has an internal passage that extends from its leading end towards its trailing end and which communicates with the anchoring hole. A device is inserted into the passage and ejects a quick-setting substance into the passage and from there to the immediate exterior of the anchor member so that the substance surrounds the anchor member and forms a plug thereabout. The plug partially fills the clearance and fixes the anchor member securely in the anchoring hole upon the hardening of the substance. A flange is provided at the trailing end of the anchor member to seal the anchor hole against outflow of the quick-setting substance therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4074496
Abstract: A composite large plate is connected with a structural element and has an undercut coupling projection having at least two structural plates. Each of the structural plates has two undercut slots and is adapted to be located adjacent to one another so that at least one of the slots of one of the structural plates is substantially parallel to one slot of the other structural plate. A plate-like connecting member is provided, having two elongated undercut projections substantially parallel to one another and each engageable in one of the slots of the structural plates. When the elongated undercut projections engage in the slots of the structural plates the latter are assembled with one another so as to form the composite plate, and the structural element can be connected to the thus-formed composite plate by inserting the coupling projection thereof in the respective other one of the slots.

  • Patent number: 4070842
Abstract: A method and arrangement for orienting objects on support structures formed with an anchoring hole utilizes an elongated element, a fixing member and a plate member. The fixing member is fixedly mounted on the hole of the support structure. The elongated element is inserted through the passage with clearance so that leading and trailing portions of the element are respective located within and outside of the hole. An object is mounted on the trailing portion of the element. The plate member is juxtaposed over the fixing member and is connected to the elongated element. Movement of the plate member relative to the fixing member caused by displacement of the elongated element in the clearance results in orientation of the object which is mounted on the element to any of a plurality of positions relative to the support. After one of these positions have been selected, the leading portion of the element is anchored in the hole.
