  • Publication number: 20140378849
Abstract: Method and apparatus for quantitative and qualitative determination of heart rate, stroke volume, cardiac output, and central fluid volume. Phonocardiography based technique using multiple transducers and multi-sensor processing algorithms provides a non-invasive method of evaluating the output of the heart. This basic system coupled with additional sensor elements provides a wide range of potential capabilities. A system comprising these techniques in a wearable form provides a non-invasive method of determining hydration status and blood volume status. Phonocardiography augmented with multi-sensor signal processing techniques improves signal quality to analyze heart sounds and associated features (e.g. S1 and S2, amongst others). Noise compensation and cancellation techniques for phonocardiography further improve signal to noise ratio to reject external disturbances.

  • Patent number: 8917096
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for determining an isoelectric point of a molecule. A first group of capacitance versus voltage curves of a capacitor is measured. The capacitor includes a substrate, dielectric layer, and conductive solution. The first group of curves is measured for pH values of the solution without the molecule bound to a functionalized material on the dielectric layer of the capacitor. A second group of capacitance versus voltage curves of the capacitor is measured when the molecule is present in the solution, where the molecule is bound to the functionalized material of the dielectric layer of the capacitor. A shift is determined in the second group of curves from the first group of curves at each pH value. The isoelectric point of the molecule is determined by extrapolating a pH value corresponding to a shift voltage being zero, when the shift is compared to the pH values.

  • Patent number: 8918656
Abstract: An information handling system includes a plurality of power supply units (PSUs) to supply power to one or more system components. For each PSU of the plurality of PSUs, a power conversion efficiency profile for the PSU is determined using a power management control module of the information handling system. The power conversion efficiency profile represents a power conversion efficiency of the PSU for each of one or more power outputs capable of being supplied by the PSU. The power management control module determines a total amount of power to be supplied to a load of the information handling system, and engages a select number of PSUs to provide the total amount of power based on the total amount of power and the power conversion efficiency profiles of the PSUs.

  • Publication number: 20140365763
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for provisioning an endorsement key (EK) certificate for a firmware trusted platform module (fTPM). In the method, the fTPM receives a derived key (DK) from a hardware trusted platform (HWTP). The fTPM is implemented in the HWTP, the DK is derived from a hardware key (HWK) securely stored in the HWTP, the HWK is unique to the HWTP, and the HWK is not available to the fTPM. The fTPM generates an endorsement primary seed (EPS) based on the DK, and generates a hashed endorsement primary seed (HEPS) based on a hash of the EPS. The fTPM forwards the HEPS to a provisioning station, and receives, from the provisioning station, an EK certificate corresponding to the HEPS.
