Abstract: An in-line cable termination system for use with first and second electrical power transmission cables includes an isolating apparatus having an isolating apparatus axis and including an electrically conductive first end member and an electrically conductive second end member, first and second insulators, and a fused switch mechanism. The first end member and the second end member are spaced apart along the isolating apparatus axis. Each of the first and second end members includes a respective coupling portion to mechanically and electrically engage the first and second cables, respectively. The first and second insulators each extend between and couple the first end member and the second end member. The fused switch mechanism includes a fuse module and is configured to selectively alternatively electrically connect the first and second end members, and thereby the first and second cables, through the fuse module and disconnect the first and second end members.

Abstract: An inventory system has inventory pods that are freely and independently moved about a facility and include inventory holders having dynamically reconfigurable storage bins. For various operating scenarios, the components of the inventory system are directed to dynamically reconfigure the storage bins, thereby maintaining efficient product density amongst the inventory holders and permitting the use of automated equipment to manipulate inventory items stored in the inventory pods. One or more inventory pods may be used with lifting modules and picking modules to dynamically reconfigure the storage bins as inventory items are added to and removed from the inventory holders.

Abstract: A method and system for creating and navigating linear hypermedia resource programs are disclosed. The system includes a distributed hypermedia resource network having a plurality of hypermedia resources residing on one or more remote information nodes. A common remote information node is in communication with a subscriber station and the remote information nodes in the distributed network. The common remote information node contains at least one linear hypermedia resource program consisting of pre-selected media elements from one or more hypermedia resources linked with exclusive linear links, each media element in the linear program having only one forward link to the next media element. The method includes the steps of downloading and displaying a media element in the linear program and responding to user commands to download and display the next media element in the linear program.

The periodic sequence is phase variant to a starting point of the ordered plurality of points, the order of the plurality of points being determined according to a predetermined rule. The feature vector for one of the points is generated from a frequency domain representation of the periodic sequence, the feature vector being invariant to rotation with respect to the plurality of points.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a device and system for verifying the content of items in a bin within a materials handling facility. In some implementations, a bin content verification apparatus may pass by one or more bins and capture images of those bins. The images may be processed to determine whether the content included in the bins has changed since the last time images of the bins were captured. A determination may also be made as to whether a change to the bin content was expected and, if so, if the determined change corresponds with the expected change.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing an extract derived from sugar cane, the process comprising: i) mixing a sugar cane derived product with ethanol to produce an extraction mixture comprising at least about 50% v/v ethanol; ii) allowing a precipitate to form in the extraction mixture; iii) removing the precipitate from the extraction mixture to obtain a supernatant; and iv) removing ethanol from the supernatant to produce the extract derived from sugar cane. The present invention further relates to extracts produced according to the process of the invention. Abstract: An animal stroke model is provided. The model is useful in the study of brain ischemia and/or reperfusion injury and in identification and testing of compounds and interventions useful in the treatment of stroke. The method is carried out in a non-human mammal, such as rat. The method of inducing ischemia and/or reperfusion injury involves exposing a portion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and temporarily occluding it at one or more distinct locations, preferably three distinct locations. The model results in highly reproducible and focal infarct sizes, with low rate of mortality during the experimental procedure.
