  • Patent number: 10285088
Abstract: Systems and techniques for minimize drive testing measurements. Network elements including UEs and eNBs are configured to define measurement procedures to determine control plane latency affecting scheduling requests, RACH procedures, and combinations thereof. Upon initiation of a request for uplink resources, such as a scheduling request or a RACH procedure, a UE notes the time of the request and measures the time until its fulfillment. If a scheduling request fails, a RACH procedure may be performed and in such cases, the time from initiation of the scheduling request, through its failure, until successful completion of the RACH procedure may be measured. Once a measurement has been made, the measured duration and other associated information are assembled and analyzed, and when the measurement and other information meets criteria for inclusion in a measurement report, the report is assembled and sent, or logged for sending, to an eNB.

  • Patent number: 9301215
Abstract: A method is described which provides a synchronized HO of a mobile device. The method includes receiving a HO command. A determination is made of whether the HO command includes an indication of UL resource allocations. A C-RNTI is waited for in DL signaling if the HO command does not include the indication of UL resource allocations. If the HO command includes the indication of UL resource allocations, transmitting occurs based on the UL resource allocations. The method may be performed as a result of execution of computer program instructions stored in a computer readable memory medium. An apparatus is also described.

  • Publication number: 20160066241
Abstract: An apparatus of a communication network detects that a modification of a radio resource control connection for a user equipment is required. The apparatus decides, based on the detected modification requirement, if a re-establishment of a packet data convergence protocol is required for a first radio bearer and/or a second radio bearer, and indicates, in a radio resource control reconfiguration message, the first radio bearer and/or the second radio bearer for which re-establishment of the packet data convergence protocol is required. The user equipment detects, from the radio resource control reconfiguration message, that a modification of a radio resource control connection between the user equipment and the communication network is required, and re-establishes the packet data convergence protocol for the first radio bearer and/or the second radio bearer in accordance with the indication set in the radio resource control reconfiguration message.

  • Patent number: 8867484
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating handover failure recovery may include a handover management element configured to receive, at a target node, a handover request from a source node regarding the handover of communications with a mobile terminal. The handover request may include identity information indicative of the mobile terminal. The identity information may be the identity information used to identify the mobile terminal to the source node during establishment of the original connection between the source node and the mobile terminal. The handover management element may be further configured to receive a request for a connection from the mobile terminal subsequent to a radio link failure and prior to handover completion. Based on matching the identity information from the request for connection and the identity information received from the source node, the target node may establish communication with the mobile terminal based on access stratum configuration information used by the source node.
