  • Patent number: 7366477
Abstract: This invention describes a method for a redundancy version implementation of an uplink (UL) enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) in mobile communication systems by calculating a redundancy version number (RVN) as a function of a connection frame number (CFN), a maximum number of processed HARQs (hybrid automatic repeat requests) NARQ, and a number of redundancy versions NRV. Instead of signaling a RV parameter outband in UL, the RVN is determined by the network element using simple rules which ensures that the same RVN is never used successively for the same HARQ process, and that all possible RV numbers are used for one HARQ process.

  • Publication number: 20080037572
Abstract: Provided are apparatuses and methods for determining a logical channel for transmission of a data packet in a network. A logical channel may provide a corresponding Quality of Service (QoS). Data traffic may be identified based on class of service (CoS) and each CoS may be handled through a default QoS configuration, for example. A logical channel may be associated with or preconfigured with a designated default QoS configuration such that transmission of data on the logical channel may be available without prior QoS negotiation or setup signaling. In one example, the selection of the logical channel may be based on a Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) marked in the data packet.

  • Publication number: 20070274338
Abstract: A method and a device are considered for implementing minimum activity during discontinuous transmission in a telecommunication connection used to carry a service. The service is allowed to involve transmitting upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmissions at predetermined regular intervals during otherwise silent periods. There is determined (407, 408, 409) a maximum length of a silent period that is longer than the predetermined regular intervals between upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmissions. A Layer 2 entity of a protocol stack observes (411) the occurrence of silent periods and transmits (412) a dummy block over the telecommunication connection if the length of an observed silent period reaches said maximum length without an upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmission having been transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20070258413
Abstract: A method and a device for transferring signalling information in a TDMA based system. Temporal alignment of values for a retransmission number parameter (R) with the TDMA frame structure is determined on the basis of which a first radio packet to be sent in a number of first TDMA frames is encoded by using a certain first value for the parameter and a second radio packet to be sent in a number of second TDMA frames is encoded by using a certain second value for the parameter. The first and second radio packets are transmitted to the recipient that adheres to the same temporal alignment rules and can thus properly decode both the packets. The solution can be utilized especially in GERAN radio access network with FLO (Flexible Layer One) for transferring signalling information on half-rate channels.

  • Publication number: 20070248099
Abstract: Disclosed is a method to operate a wireless user equipment, a wireless user equipment, a computer program product, and an apparatus. The method includes, in response to operation during a Baseline Procedure when no absolute grant (AG) is received from a wireless network node, determining if there was a scheduled transmission in a previous transmission time interval of a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process and, if there was, using a serving relative grant (SRG) and, if it is determined instead that there was not a scheduled transmission in the previous transmission time interval of the HARQ process, not using the SRG if it is determined that there was a scheduling information (SI) event alone in the previous transmission time interval of the HARQ process.

  • Publication number: 20070230379
Abstract: An optional short SACCH is used when the network detects high error rate in the normal SACCH channel. The communication returns to normal mode when the network detects that the link quality has improved. In the short SACCH message only the most relevant information fields are sent. The extra bits are used for channel coding so that in the channel conditions where the most robust AMR codings still work, the BLER of short SACCH is still tolerable.

  • Publication number: 20070218883
Abstract: A method and a device for reallocating transport format combination identifiers (TFCI) of transport format combinations (TFC) forming a transport format combination set (TFCS) in a wireless system utilizing flexible layer one (FLO). Whenever a TFC is removed from the TFCS the corresponding TFCI is left vacant. The vacant TFCI is then assigned to a TFC with a subsequent TFCI. Such TFC with subsequent TFCI may be either the closest one to the vacant TFCI (by its TFCI) or the last one, for example. The size of TFCIs may be reduced if enabled by the assigning phase.

  • Publication number: 20070213035
Abstract: A method and a device for reconfiguration in a wireless system utilizing flexible layer one (FLO). In proposed solution one TFC (Transport Format Combination) is selected and reserved (504) exclusively for signalling use. The TFC may contain only one active transport channel and always utilize the same CRC and transport block size in order to unambiguously define the proper settings for signalling. Considering uplink transmission in a wireless system and special case of TFCI (Transport Format Combination Identifier) size change due to the TFCS (Transport Format Combination Set) reconfiguration that also generates a need to switch to a new dedicated basic physical subchannel (DBPSCH); whenever the network notices that the mobile station does not switch to the new DBPSCH (518), it concludes that the TFCS reconfiguration message sent was lost and stays with the existing configuration (520). Otherwise the new configuration is taken into use (514).

  • Patent number: 7240270
Abstract: A method of transmitting inband signaling messages in a mobile telecommunications network using SACCH burst. In order to avoid puncturing a fixed amount of bits out of every SACCH burst for inband signaling, the 40-bit FIRE code of the SACCH is replaced with a shorter CRC code, thereby creating unused bits for carrying the messages. After the SACCH block is shortened, a plurality of dummy bits are inserted into the shortened block prior to applying a ½ convolutional code to obtain the coded block. The coded block is further interleaved, reordered and mapped into 4 SACCH bursts. The dummy bits in each SACCH block are then replaced by the inband signaling for transmission.

  • Publication number: 20070127369
Abstract: The present invention relates to a terminal device and to a scheduling method and device for scheduling data transmission over a plurality of channels in a data network. A predetermined parameter, e.g. a TFC value, indicating a channel capacity in a received data stream of at least one of the plurality of channels is monitored, and a request for change of the maximum channel capacity allocated to the at least one of the plurality of channels is determined, if the value the monitored predetermined parameter falls outside a predetermined allowed range. The terminal device is configured to set a predetermined parameter indicating a channel capacity to a value outside the predetermined allowed range in order to request a change of the maximum channel capacity. Thereby, an explicit capacity request signaling from the data source to the scheduling functionality can be avoided without introducing additional latency, and physical layer resources can be increased for improved data transmission.

  • Publication number: 20070097937
Abstract: A method and equipment by which a radio access network (e.g. UTRAN) of a wireless network (e.g. UMTS) communicates to a user equipment wireless communication device (e.g. a mobile station) an indication that the user equipment is to flush one or more send buffers, e.g. buffers used by HARQ processes, such as for HSUPA. A flag is included in a message to indicate that the one or more send buffers are to be flushed. The message is for example a message indicating reconfiguration is to be performed, and the flag (if set) is to be interpreted by the user equipment as indicating that the one or more send buffers are to be flushed prior to performing the reconfiguration. A corresponding method and equipment for a user equipment wireless communication device are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20070010281
Abstract: The invention provides, according to one aspect, a method of scheduling information in a communication system at serving cell change. When a serving cell changes for a user equipment (UE), it is determined whether the new serving cell belonged to the previous serving enhanced data channel (EDCH) radio link set (RLS). The user equipment then sends scheduling information (SI) in the first MAC-e protocol data unit (PDU) sent in uplink after completion of the serving cell change only when it is determined that the new serving cell did not belong to the previous serving EDCH RLS. In other words, the UE sends the SI at serving cell change only when the base station (node B) has also changed.
