  • Publication number: 20100238799
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating handover failure recovery may include a handover management element configured to receive, at a target node, a handover request from a source node regarding the handover of communications with a mobile terminal. The handover request may include identity information indicative of the mobile terminal. The identity information may be the identity information used to identify the mobile terminal to the source node during establishment of the original connection between the source node and the mobile terminal. The handover management element may be further configured to receive a request for a connection from the mobile terminal subsequent to a radio link failure and prior to handover completion. Based on matching the identity information from the request for connection and the identity information received from the source node, the target node may establish communication with the mobile terminal based on access stratum configuration information used by the source node.

  • Patent number: 7768962
Abstract: A method and equipment by which a radio access network of a wireless network communicates to a user equipment wireless communication device an indication that the user equipment is to flush one or more send buffers. A flag is included in a message to indicate that the one or more send buffers are to be flushed. The message is for example a message indicating reconfiguration is to be performed, and the flag (if set) is to be interpreted by the user equipment as indicating that the one or more send buffers are to be flushed prior to performing the reconfiguration. A corresponding method and equipment for a user equipment wireless communication device are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7764657
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a method in a transmitter for interleaving information bits from a data block into transmission bursts. Each of the information bits is assigned with an index. The interleaving includes computing positions of the information bits in the transmission bursts such that the values of the indexes of at least a portion of the information bits are modified. At a receiver it is determined if the value of any of the indexes has been modified before transmission of the transmission bursts. Based on the determination, de-interleaving of the information bits is then accomplished based on modified values of the indexes or originally assigned values of the indexes.

  • Patent number: 7756080
Abstract: A method and a device for reallocating transport format combination identifiers (TFCI) of transport format combinations (TFC) forming a transport format combination set (TFCS) in a wireless system utilizing flexible layer one (FLO). Whenever a TFC is removed from the TFCS the corresponding TFCI is left vacant. The vacant TFCI is then assigned to a TFC with a subsequent TFCI. Such TFC with subsequent TFCI may be either the closest one to the vacant TFCI (by its TFCI) or the last one, for example. The size of TFCIs may be reduced if enabled by the assigning phase.

  • Patent number: 7706313
Abstract: A method and a device are considered for implementing minimum activity during discontinuous transmission in a telecommunication connection used to carry a service. The service is allowed to involve transmitting upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmissions at predetermined regular intervals during otherwise silent periods. There is determined (407, 408, 409) a maximum length of a silent period that is longer than the predetermined regular intervals between upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmissions. A Layer 2 entity of a protocol stack observes (411) the occurrence of silent periods and transmits (412) a dummy block over the telecommunication connection if the length of an observed silent period reaches said maximum length without an upper-level scheduled silence-breaking transmission having been transmitted.

  • Patent number: 7693156
Abstract: Disclosed is a method to operate a wireless user equipment, a wireless user equipment, a computer program product, and an apparatus. The method includes, in response to operation during a Baseline Procedure when no absolute grant (AG) is received from a wireless network node, determining if there was a scheduled transmission in a previous transmission time interval of a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process and, if there was, using a serving relative grant (SRG) and, if it is determined instead that there was not a scheduled transmission in the previous transmission time interval of the HARQ process, not using the SRG if it is determined that there was a scheduling information (SI) event alone in the previous transmission time interval of the HARQ process.

  • Patent number: 7643448
Abstract: In a flexible layer one (403) of a GERAN transmitter device, a TFCI, which indicates a particular combination of cyclic redundancy check, channel coding and rate matching, is generated by a TFCI generating process (412) using information from the medium access control layer. The TFCI is coded by a coding process (413), and inserted into the data stream by a TFCI insertion process (414). Each code has more bits than the corresponding TFCI, and identifies uniquely the TFCI. The coded TFCI is spread across the pre-interleaved block with portions placed in fixed positions in each burst. Interleaving is then performed by an interleaver (411). The coded TFCI used with a half-rate channel is the central segment of the coded TFCI used in the corresponding full-rate channel. The additional loss is so small as to be insignificant, but the FER performance is significantly improved, compared to using the full-rate codes, as a result of the increased payload of the content data bits.

  • Patent number: 7525946
Abstract: A method for decoding signalling messages on Flexible Layer One (FLO) half rate channels, wherein soft values of blocks that are incorrectly received are stored in a buffer. When the cyclic redundancy check (CRC) data of a received block fails, the soft values of the block are stored along with the first half of a signalling message so as to facilitate soft combining. The information from the first half of a signalling message that is used in the combination is the first radio packet for which the TFCI is a signalling TFCI, i.e., its value is 0. As a result, a misread of the first and second TFCI of a signalling message can occur without adversely affecting the decoding of a transmitted radio packet. In addition, the ability to decode errors within the TFCI that precedes the signalling message without having an adverse impact on the signalling message is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20090104916
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method, apparatus, system and computer program product for receiving a prioritized bit rate for a radio bearer, and setting a header element based at least on a relation of a measured data rate for the radio bearer and the prioritized bit rate for the radio bearer. A medium access control header element may be set based on the relation between the measured data rate and the prioritized bit rate for the corresponding radio bearer. A network element can derive information on the buffer status of the corresponding bearer, and lower-priority prioritized bit rate bearers. The medium access control header element may be set based on the amount of buffered data for radio bearers not included in the current transport block. The network element can derive information on the buffer status of non-prioritized bit rate bearers of priority lower than the transmitted ones.

  • Publication number: 20080273625
Abstract: Transference of signaling frames on GERAN (GSM/EDGE radio Access Network) half rate channels utilizing a modulation scheme carrying n bits in one symbol. In order to be able to utilize the existing channel coding developed for channels with different modulations and to avoid high rate convolutional and block codes, the AMR signaling frame to be transferred is coded using a coding procedure defined for a GSM half rate channel utilizing a GMSK modulation scheme, the coding procedure outputting a coded output stream. In response to said coding, each bit of the coded output stream is repeated n times, whereby a repeated bit stream is obtained, and symbols to be transmitted are formed from the repeated bit stream.
