  • Publication number: 20060268773
Abstract: A network schedules a mobile station for an uplink packet transmission on a data channel, receives from a mobile station an uplink message on a control channel, determines from the uplink message a desired power for the mobile station to transmit on the data channel, and thereafter transmits to the mobile station a power control message that commands either a zero power allocation or a full power allocation for the scheduled uplink packet transmission. The mobile station receives from the network the power control message, then determines from the power control message whether zero or full power is allocated. If zero power, then the mobile station suspends its transmissions on the data channel until receiving a new power control command for uplink transmissions on the data channel. If full power, the mobile station transmits user data on the data channel without regard to power on a control channel.

  • Publication number: 20060252450
Abstract: A set of power control step size increments are determined such that at least two step size increments differ from one another. The set is sent to a Mobile Station MS. A first power command to the MS informs of a first power for a uplink data transmission on a radio resource (E-DPDCH). To change power on the same radio resource, an offset is computed, the set of step size increments is accessed to determine which one, or combination of them, yield the offset, and the MS is informed of the second power by a second message that identifies those elements of the set that alone or in combination yield the offset. The MS determines the second power as a function of the first power and the step size increment(s) from the second message.

  • Publication number: 20060176976
Abstract: In a flexible layer one (403) of a GERAN transmitter device, a TFCI, which indicates a particular combination of cyclic redundancy check, channel coding and rate matching, is generated by a TFCI generating process (412) using information from the medium access control layer. The TFCI is coded by a coding process (413), and inserted into the data stream by a TFCI insertion process (414). Each code has more bits than the corresponding TFCI, and identifies uniquely the TFCI. The coded TFCI is spread across the pre-interleaved block with portions placed in fixed positions in each burst. Interleaving is then performed by an interleaver (411). The coded TFCI used with a half-rate channel is the central segment of the coded TFCI used in the corresponding full-rate channel. The additional loss is so small as to be insignificant, but the FER performance is significantly improved, compared to using the full-rate codes, as a result of the increased payload of the content data bits.

  • Publication number: 20060178112
Abstract: A communication flow for HSUPA is shown that allows a NodeB to measure the thermal plus background noise level (Prx—noise), and at the same time which also allows the RNC, according to its own (centralized) strategy, to overwrite the very same value that is then used in NodeB (de-centralized) scheduling.

  • Publication number: 20060165131
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in a transmitter for interleaving information bits from a data block into transmission bursts. Each of the information bits is assigned with an index. The interleaving includes computing positions of the information bits in the transmission bursts such that the values of the indexes of at least a portion of the information bits are modified. At a receiver it is determined if the value of any of the indexes has been modified before transmission of the transmission bursts. Based on the determination, de-interleaving of the information bits is then accomplished based on modified values of the indexes or originally assigned values of the indexes.

  • Publication number: 20060126591
Abstract: Multiple transport channels (405, 406, 407) are multiplexed and transmitted in a single physical channel. A code (TFCI) is added to the transport channel data flows to indicate which processing schemes, from a set of available schemes, are being employed and the resultant blocks are interleaved. The depth of the interleaving is set in dependence on the transmission time intervals associated with the schemes in the set of processing schemes.

  • Publication number: 20060120404
Abstract: A system and methods for slow medium access control entity (MAC-e) for autonomous transmission during High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA), and for service specific transmission time control in HUSPA, wherein a control parameter that is independent from the air interface transmission time interval (TTI), hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes or enhanced dedicated transport channel (E-DCH) scheduling is used. This control defines the minimum time interval between subsequent new transmissions. The control has no impact on retransmissions, which are performed normally.

  • Publication number: 20060104240
Abstract: A method and corresponding equipment by which a service access point (SAP) of a radio access network is able to trigger a user equipment (UE) terminal to send scheduling information to the SAP for use by the SAP in scheduling/allocating resources for packet uplink from the UE to the SAP. The method uses an AG (absolute grant) or RG (relative grant) rate control/scheduling message as the trigger. The scheduling information is then sent by the UE via a MAC-e (medium access control-extended) PDU (protocol data unit).

  • Publication number: 20060062146

  • Publication number: 20060039325
Abstract: A method for decoding signalling messages on Flexible Layer One (FLO) half rate channels, wherein soft values of blocks that are incorrectly received are stored in a buffer. When the cyclic redundancy check (CRC) data of a received block fails, the soft values of the block are stored along with the first half of a signalling message so as to facilitate soft combining. The information from the first half of a signalling message that is used in the combination is the first radio packet for which the TFCI is a signalling TFCI, i.e., its value is 0. As a result, a misread of the first and second TFCI of a signalling message can occur without adversely affecting the decoding of a transmitted radio packet. In addition, the ability to decode errors within the TFCI that precedes the signalling message without having an adverse impact on the signalling message is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6996114
Abstract: A method for rate matching in equipment used as part of, or in communication with, a radio access network implementing FLO (Flexible Layer One) so as to provide retransmission with incremental redundancy, the method using a rate-matching algorithm based on determining a starting parameter eini, the method characterized by: a step (21) of providing a retransmission parameter R controlled by the RLC protocol layer and having typically a value of one for a first retransmission and a next higher value for each subsequent transmission; a step (24) of determining a characteristic distance D related to the average distance between either punctured bits or between transmitted bits, depending on the value of the average distance between punctured bits; and a step (25) of determining a new value of eini based on a cycling term having a value depending on R but modulated by D so as to never exceed D?1.

  • Publication number: 20050250454
Abstract: This invention describes a method for a redundancy version implementation of an uplink (UL) enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) in mobile communication systems by calculating a redundancy version number (RVN) as a function of a connection frame number (CFN), a maximum number of processed HARQs (hybrid automatic repeat requests) NARQ, and a number of redundancy versions NRV. Instead of signaling a RV parameter outband in UL, the RVN is determined by the network element using simple rules which ensures that the same RVN is never used successively for the same HARQ process, and that all possible RV numbers are used for one HARQ process.

  • Publication number: 20050243764
Abstract: A method for presenting information to a mobile station that is transmitted during a common idle frame that consists of a set of time slots, comprising arranging individual transmissions such that the mobile station is enabled to receive all pertinent information from a subset of timeslots of the idle frame, without regard for what traffic time slot or slots the mobile station is assigned to. The individual transmissions originate from individual ones of a plurality of base stations, and the base stations are operated so as to alternate or rotate the transmission of bursts within the idle frame. Depending on a number of different bursts to be sent, a particular burst transmitted from one base station is never transmitted in the same time slot during two consecutive idle frames. In a presently preferred, but not limiting, embodiment of this invention the bursts are SCH bursts transmitted from base stations in a synchronous GSM telecommunications system.
