  • Publication number: 20040134801
Abstract: An ink-package assembly including an ink package fluid-tightly containing a mass of an ink, and a sealing wrapper fluid-tightly enclosing the ink package, wherein an interior space of the sealing wrapper is charged with an inert gas such as a helium gas, which has a lower degree of solubility in the ink, than the air. The interior space of the sealing wrapper is evacuated to a reduced pressure of −20 kPa and −60 kPa with respect to the atmospheric pressure, as needed. The ink package includes an ink bag and is provided with a spout having a passage, and a cap for closing the passage. Where the sealing wrapper is evacuated, the ink package preferably further includes an ink-bag casing accommodating the ink bag, and a reinforcing structure interposed between the casing and the ink bag, to prevent deformation of the ink bag. Also disclosed is a method of producing the ink-package assembly.

  • Publication number: 20040056918
Abstract: A head unit is inverted so that an outflow port is in the lowest position. Because the top wall of the buffer tank slopes downwards towards the outflow port, all remaining cleaning fluid that was introduced during manufacture is removed. Also, a notch is provided in the bottom end of an ink introduction port. The notch faces towards the outflow port so that bubbles in the ink exit from the notch and are guided towards the outflow port. The head unit is shipped while the buffer tank is filled with preservation fluid that has high wettability and any openings to the outside air are closed off with covers. When the head unit is used, the preservation fluid is sucked by a purging device and then ink, which has a high affinity for the preservation fluid, is smoothly introduced. Also, the inner surface of the filters are treated to increase the wettability by ink after the filters are fixed to the bottom lid. Afterwards the bottom lid is fixed to the top lid to form the buffer tank.

  • Publication number: 20030175220
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions and methods for inhibiting, reducing, preventing or controlling dental caries formation. Electrolyzed water having an oxidation-reduction potential from about −150 to 0 mV measured against a platinum electrode, also known as “Trim water” can reduce, inhibit, prevent, or control caries in part by neutralizing dental plaque acid by increasing the pH in the area surrounding dental plaque. One embodiment provides contacting a tooth with electrolyzed water, typically after the tooth has been challenged with a sugar, to neutralize dental plaque acid and thereby reduce the formation of dental caries. Electrolyzed water and compositions comprising electrolyzed water can be formulated as palatable beverages, gels, candy, or other foodstuffs that are safely digested by individuals such as young children.

  • Publication number: 20030148525
Abstract: A method for detecting and/or quantifying a target DNA or RNA present in a sample by a isometric primer extension method is disclosed. The method includes carrying out a primer extension reaction in the absence of a free nucleotide so that the primer extension reaction is stopped where the absent nucleotide would have been inserted. Thus, as the amount of incorporation of a labeled nucleotide on the primer extended product is detected, the amount of the target RNA or DNA in the sample is measured.

  • Publication number: 20030067280
Abstract: A stepper motor control circuit reduces ripple current by applying both fast and slow current decays to a motor phase when current is being reduced in the motor phase while following a falling current waveform. The control circuit uses an initial fast decay to reduce a winding current and then switches to a slow decay until a winding current is sampled again. The control circuitry samples a winding current and compares the sampled current to a reference current to determine if current is to be applied or reduced using fast and/or slow decay methods. Different phase current sample circuits allow either constant current sensing or selective current sensing.
