  • Publication number: 20040074796
Abstract: A tool try-on device includes a body and a frictional retaining member mounted to the body. The frictional retaining member and the body together define a compartment for receiving a rotatable member rotatably mounted to an end of a handle of a tool. The frictional retaining member exerts a frictional force to an outer surface of the rotatable member of the tool for retaining the rotatable member in place unless a rotational force greater than the frictional force is applied to the handle of the tool in a ratcheting direction.

  • Patent number: 6701813
Abstract: A wrench comprises a rod, a retainer, a pressing member, and a casing for accommodating the retainer and allowing relative pivotal movement between the casing and the retainer. The pressing member is received in the casing and slidable along a longitudinal direction of the rod. The pressing member is biased to press against two ends of the retainer, thereby exerting an engaging force between each of two ends of the retainer and an associated one of the ends of the pressing member. When a rotational force applied to the casing is smaller than the engaging force, the retainer and the rod are turned to thereby turn the fastener. When a rotational force applied to the casing is greater than the engaging force, the casing and the pressing member slide while the retainer and the rod are not turned.

  • Patent number: 6647834
Abstract: A method is provided for processing a handle tool. Raw material formed into the hand tool is firstly hardened by heat treatment. A surface of the hand tool is polished after hardening. A layer of metal is deposited on the surface of the polished hand tool to provide an anti-rust effect and/or anti-corrosion effect. A local area of the layer of metal deposition on the surface of the hand tool that is grasped during use is sanded to provide an anti-slide section. A numerical size area of the hand tool is covered by a local sanding mask before local sanding to thereby form a clear numerical size mark in the local area after local sanding.

  • Patent number: 6647831
Abstract: An adaptor device includes an adaptor and a retainer. The adaptor includes a first end removably mounted in a box end of a wrench and a second end releasably engaged with an object such as a tool bit. The retainer is fixed to the first end of the adaptor and includes at least two resilient retaining sections on an outer periphery thereof. A slit is defined between two resilient retaining sections that are adjacent to each other. The resilient retaining sections abut against an edge of the box end of the wrench, thereby providing an engaging force between the resilient retaining sections and the edge of the box end that is greater than an engaging force between the adaptor and the tool bit. Thus, the tool bit can be disengaged from the adaptor without causing disengagement of the adaptor from the box end of the wrench.

  • Patent number: 6644148
Abstract: A wrench comprises a handle and a head extending from the handle. A peripheral wall defining a hole in the head includes a compartment. An annular groove is defined in an end of the peripheral wall defining the hole. The annular groove is partially coincident with the compartment. A pawl is slidably received in the compartment and biased to engage with a gear wheel in the hole. A switching member is partially mounted in the hole for moving the pawl when switching of the ratcheting direction is required. A retainer ring is partially engaged in an annular groove in the switching member and partially engaged in the annular groove of the head. The retainer ring is retained in place by a wall defining the compartment. The switching member is not moved when the pawl moves as a result of free rotation of the wrench.
