  • Publication number: 20170086761
Abstract: Some embodiments are associated with an input signal comprising a first and a second photon event incident on a photon-counting semiconductor detector. A relatively slow charge collection shaping amplifier may receive the input signal and output an indication of a total amount of energy associated with the superposition of the first and second events. A relatively fast charge collection shaping amplifier may receive the input signal and output an indication that is used to allocate a first portion of the total amount of energy to the first event and a second portion of the total amount of energy to the second event.

  • Patent number: 9607188
Abstract: A passive radio frequency identification (RFID) sensor is provided. This passive RFID sensor includes at least one antenna, at least one processing module, and a wireless communication module. The at least one antenna has an impedance that may vary with an environment in which the sensor is placed. Additionally, the antenna impedance might be permanently changed in response to an environmental variation or an event. The at least one processing module couples to the antenna and has a tuning module that may vary a reactive component impedance coupled to the antenna in order to change a system impedance. The system impedance includes both the antenna impedance and the reactive component impedance. The tuning module then produces an impedance value representative of the reactive component impedance. A memory module may store the impedance value which may then later be communicated to an RFID reader via the wireless communication module.

  • Publication number: 20170057305
Abstract: A wireless sensor includes an antenna, a tuning circuit, a pressure sensing circuit, a processing module, and a transmitter. Collectively, the pressure sensing circuit, the antenna, and the tuning circuit have one or more radio frequency (RF) characteristics and the pressure sensing circuit causes the RF characteristic(s) to vary with varying sensed pressures. The processing module detects a variance of the RF characteristic(s) from a desired value. In response to the detecting of the variance, the processing module adjusts the tuning circuit to substantially re-establish the desired value of the RF characteristic(s). The processing module generates a message regarding the adjusting of the tuning circuit, wherein a level of the adjusting is representative of a variance of pressure sensed by the pressure sensing circuit. The transmitter transmits the message.

  • Patent number: 9582981
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a passive radio frequency identification (RFID) moisture sensor. This moisture sensor includes one or more antenna structures having a tail. The tail is operable to transport a disturbance such as, but not limited to fluid or moisture from a monitored location wherein the antenna has an impedance and varies with proximity to the disturbance. An integrated circuit couples to the antenna structure. This IC includes a power harvesting module operable to energize the integrated circuit, an impedance-matching engine coupled to the antenna, a memory module, and a wireless communication module. The impedance-matching engine may vary a reactive component to reduce a mismatch between the antenna impedance and the IC and produce an impedance value (sensor code) representative of the reactive component impedance.
