  • Publication number: 20050011604
Abstract: The present invention is a method of forming a fiber reinforced thermoset composite boom section or pipeline. The method comprises first creating a form and coating the form with a wax layer. A plurality of fiber reinforced thermoset composite material layers is then formed over the form. After the thermoset composite material layers cure, the form is removed.

  • Publication number: 20050003547
Abstract: The invention provides a lentiviral vector containing an attachment incompetent fusogenic polypeptide and a heterologous targeting polypeptide. Also provided is a lentiviral packaging construct. The construct contains a nucleic acid encoding trans-acting factors sufficient for lentiviral vector generation and an attachment incompetent fusogenic polypeptide. A lentiviral packaging system having at least two nucleic acid vectors is further provided. The lentiviral packaging system consists of a first nucleic acid vector comprising a packaging construct encoding a trans-acting factor for lentiviral vector generation, and a second nucleic acid vector encoding an attachment incompetent fusogenic polypeptide, said at least two vectors together encoding trans-acting factors sufficient for lentiviral vector generation. The invention additionally provides a lentiviral gene delivery system having at least three nucleic acid vectors.

  • Publication number: 20040019602
Abstract: An application programmer's interface provides a facility for accessing metadata describing the content or attributes of information material. The application programmer's interface comprises a signalling protocol processor operable to receive a metadata string which includes a resource identifier providing an address of a metadata resource, and a file transfer processor operable to provide access to the metadata resource in accordance with a request from the application program. The signalling protocol processor provides an efficient facility for communicating the metadata string. The metadata string may be in the form of a mark-up language such as XML. The metadata resource may be for example a proxy version of the information material, such as a video proxy if the information material is video. Accordingly, the file transfer processor is arranged to provide efficient access to the video proxy using the address provided with metadata string.

  • Publication number: 20040004952
Abstract: A system for facilitating development of information material comprises a material generation apparatus and a digital assistant device. The material generation apparatus includes a recording device and a wireless communicator. The material generation apparatus is operable to generate the information material and the recording device is operable to store the information material on a data carrier with material location data identifying a location on the data carrier of the information material. The digital assistant device includes and a wireless communicator for providing a wireless communications link with the wireless communicator of the material generation apparatus. The material generation apparatus is operable in response to a request communicated from the digital assistant device via the wireless communications link for material location data identifying an event represented within the information material to communicate the material location data of the material representing the event.

  • Publication number: 20030221164
Abstract: A system for facilitating production of information material comprises a plurality of metadata nodes operable to process metadata describing the content of information material, and a data communications network for providing a facility for communicating the metadata between the metadata nodes. The metadata is represented as metadata strings describing the content or attributes associated with the information material. The metadata string includes a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) providing an address of a storage location of an associated metadata resource. The metadata string is communicable separately from the information material via the network and the associated metadata resource is accessible via the network using the resource identifier. The metadata string can be arranged to provide an indication of parameters describing the information material and identifiers such as UMIDs or the like which facilitate navigation of the information material.

  • Publication number: 20030158975
Abstract: Providing a real-time data display and interface for a network device by loading a page in a browser, the page including an engine which is executed in the browser and used to automatically load a definition file from a remote source in response to content within the page. Widgets are instantiated for display in the interface, each making data requests at intervals which are forwarded to one or more servers in communication with the network device. Requested data is received and presented in the interface thereby providing the user with dynamically updated data. An engine for driving such display comprises executable code configured to instantiate one or more widgets for rendering within the display of the real-time data interface. The engine further includes a reference to a definition file which defines prescribed parameters for one or more of the widgets.

  • Publication number: 20030159129
Abstract: A component based software program, where each component is based on a component-type. Component-types are created from base classes comprising slot definitions. The slot definitions are identified and stored in a component-type object. One or more components of the component-type are created, each comprising a reference, to a component-type object and a slotmap having storage locations for values associated with property slots definitions, in the component-type object. Values for property slots are entered into components by being placed in the storage locations. Also disclosed is a method for automatically designating unique names to components. One root component is created. Further non-root components are placed within the root component or within other components, so that all components form a tree structure. A component is assigned a unique identification string, comprising a sequential list of all of the component's ancestors and the component's name.

  • Publication number: 20030106685
Abstract: The present invention discloses multiple sealing systems for composite risers and methods of preventing interior fluid leakage to the outside of composite risers. Single or multiple elastomeric seals are formed between an elastomer applied in single or multiple grooves provided circumferentially along the outer surface of a metal to composite interface (MCI) of a liner assembly of the composite riser and an elastomeric shear ply provided on the outside of the liner assembly. The elastomeric seals and a seal between the MCI and the liner of the liner assembly provide a multiple sealing system for the composite riser to prevent leakage of interior fluids. In the event that the integrity of the seal between the MCI and liner fails or the integrity of the liner is compromised, the elastomeric seals would prevent leakage of the fluid to the outside of the composite riser.

  • Patent number: 5988300
Abstract: The present invention relates to composite material structures having reduced signal attenuation properties. In particular, the invention relates to composite drillstring components with electromagnetic properties and acoustic properties that enable the use of electromagnetic, acoustic and nuclear sensing equipment to obtain data from a wellbore from within a drill pipe. In a specific embodiment, a composite tube is incorporated with end-fittings which enable its incorporation into a drillstring thereby permitting the use of logging equipment from within the composite tube.
