Abstract: A mobile terminal is provided which includes a terminal main body, a folder having a main LCD mounted thereon, and a hinge device for combining the folder with a main body and having a sub-LCD mounted thereon. While using the main LCD, a user can check the terminal state. In addition, the sub-LCD can be used regardless of whether the folder is opened or closed, so that display efficiency can be maximized. Moreover, since the main LCD and the sub-LCD are mounted at different positions, a thickness of the terminal can be effectively reduced.

Abstract: Provided are a terminal supporting peer-to-peer (P2P) communication, a communication method using the terminal, and a billing method based on the terminal. A transceiver of the terminal is implemented to support P2P communication with an adjacent terminal in the same cell. Thus, when short-range communication is possible, the terminal performs P2P communication directly with the adjacent terminal, not via a base station. Consequently, when terminals use different mobile telecommunication service providers or there is no base station network, the terminals can be used for short-range communication. When a receiving channel state becomes satisfactory while communication with an adjacent terminal is being performed via a base station, the terminal switches to a P2P communication mode and performs communication with the adjacent terminal.

Abstract: A recording medium and method and apparatus for reproducing and recording text subtitle streams are disclosed. The text subtitle stream includes a dialog style segment defining a set of region styles and at least one dialog presentation segment. Each dialog style segment contains at least one region of dialog text, where each region of dialog text includes link information configured to link each region of dialog text to one of the set of region styles defined in the dialog style segment. For example, the link information is a region style identification which uniquely identifies the region style linked to each region of dialog text. When each region of dialog text is reproduced, the region style identified by the region style identification is applied.

Abstract: At least one text subtitle stream is recorded on a recording medium. Each text subtitle stream includes a dialog style segment defining a set of region styles and at least one dialog presentation segment. Each dialog presentation segment contains at least one region of dialog text and being linked to at least one of the set of region styles. The dialog style segment further defines a set of user control styles for each region style. Each user control style is selectable by a user and is configured to change at least one of region presentation properties specified by a corresponding region style.

Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of providing supplementary service information for A/V contents written in a recording medium. This method has a recording medium containing Presentation Language data, which have to be included like as in a digital television signal for supplementary service information in accordance with Advanced TV Enhancement Forum or Digital TV Application Software Environment standard, and reproduces, if a disk reproduction is requested, the Presentation Language data as well as requested A/V data and provides them for a connected external device such as a digital television. As a result, various video information and functions provided with Presentation Language data by a recording medium can be realized at a digital television set being able to accept Presentation Language data.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the recording medium includes a stream directory including at least one text subtitle stream file storing the text subtitle, and a stream information directory including at least one stream information file associated with the text subtitle. The stream information file has a one-to-one correspondence with the text subtitle stream file. Also, a playlist directory includes a playlist file including at least one playitem and at least one subplayitem. The at least one playitem manages reproduction of main data related to the text subtitle and the at least one subplayitem manages reproduction of the text subtitle.

Abstract: A side view LED package for a backlight unit includes a package body having a cavity with an inclined inner sidewall, first and second lead frames arranged in the package body, the cavity of the package body exposing a portion of at least one of the first and second lead frames placed in a bottom of the cavity to outside, a light emitting diode chip mounted on the bottom of the cavity to be electrically connected to the first and second lead frames, and a transparent encapsulant arranged in the cavity surrounding the light emitting diode chip. The cavity has a depth larger than a mounting height of the light emitting diode chip and not exceeding six times of the mounting height. The height of the sidewall is shortened to improve beam angle characteristics of emission light, increase light quantity, and prevent a molding defect of the sidewall.

An interactive recording medium reproducing apparatus reproduces A/V data recorded on an interactive recording medium such as an interactive DVD in conjunction with contents data provided by a contents providing server using navigation information for the contents data also provided by the contents providing server, thereby allowing synchronized reproduction of data from different sources.

The gate structure may include a first insulation layer, a second insulation layer, a charge storage layer including nanodots and formed on the second insulation layer, a third insulation layer formed on the charge storage layer, and a gate electrode layer formed on the third insulation layer. There may also be a nanodot semiconductor memory device including a semiconductor substrate, in which a first impurity region and a second impurity region may be formed, and including the gate structure formed on the semiconductor substrate which contacts the first and second impurity regions.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing an array substrate of a translucent LCD capable of simultaneously forming source and drain metal layers as reflective electrodes while improving both the contact resistance in a transmissive region and the reflectivity properties in a reflective region. The source and drain metal layers have a triple-layered structure of Mo—Al—Mo and, the top Mo is selectively removed from the reflective region. As a result, the screen quality of products improves. In addition, about 5-6 masks are enough to manufacture an array substrate using half-tone exposure technology, in contrast to the prior art which uses 8-11 masks. As the number of masks and processes is reduced in this manner, the manufacturing cost decreases accordingly and the process is simplified.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of culturing stem cells, which can remove differentiated cells generated in stem cell culture, using ABC transporters, according to a stem cell's characteristic in that the stem cells contain a plurality of the ABC transporters. The method comprises the steps of: bringing a stem cell culture into contact with an antitumor drug or toxin as a substrate of ATP-Binding Cassette transporters (ABC transporters) to allow the substrate to react with the stem cell culture; and reculturing viable cells among the stem cell culture which reacted with the substrate, the viable cells having no substrate introduced therein. According to the disclosed method, the differentiated cells generated in stem cell culture can be easily removed using an antitumor drug or toxin among various substrates of the ABC transporters. Thus, the method has an excellent effect capable of significantly increasing the purity of a stem cell culture.

Abstract: Provided is a fast mode-searching apparatus and method for motion-prediction. The fast mode-searching apparatus includes a probability information obtaining unit, a first inter mode searching unit, a second inter mode searching unit, and a selective intra mode searching unit. The probability information obtaining unit detects whether at least one of a macroblock of a previous frame, a macroblock of a current frame, and adjacent macroblocks corresponds to at least one of P16×16, P16×8, and P8×16. The first inter mode searching unit performs an inter mode search on a block that is not detected by the probability information obtaining unit. The second inter mode searching unit determines whether the macroblock of the current frame corresponds to P16×16 as a result of performing the inter mode search on a block detected by the probability information obtaining unit. The selective intra mode searching unit performs an intra mode search if the macroblock of the current frame corresponds to P16×16.
