Publication number: 20160256735Abstract: An exercise device having (-) left and right leg linkages, each including (i) an upper leg member pivotally coupled to the frame for pivoting about an upper pivot point with the upper pivot points defining a laterally extending upper pivot axis, and (ii) a lower leg member directly pivotally coupled to the upper leg member distal to the upper pivot point for pivoting about a lower pivot point, and (-) a foot support attached to each lower leg member distal to the respective lower pivot point. The invention characterized by an ergonomically synergistic spatial orientation and relationship amongst and between the upper leg members, lower leg members, upper pivot axis, lower pivot axis, hip region of a user, knees of a user, a biased damping means in communication with the lower leg members, and an interconnect member interconnecting the lower leg links with and the biased damping means.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2016Publication date: September 8, 2016Inventors: Nathan R. Luger, Thomas C. Coy, Mark R. Nestande, Daniel C. Boyles, Charles J. Rosenow

Publication number: 20160117361Abstract: A natural language processing system and method resolves partial matches when a natural language input query does not fully specify an entity. The input query is tokenized into a set of query tokens, which are compared to contents of a searchable index, the contents representing entities, each of which is tokenized into a set of entity tokens associated with the tokenized entity. A plurality of partial match query tokens are identified from the set of query tokens, each partial match query token matching at least one entity token in the index. The entity(s) corresponding to each partial match query token are selected if a sequential break exists in the input query between the partial match query tokens and there is no intersection between the entity(s) corresponding to each partial match query token.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2016Publication date: April 28, 2016Inventors: Peter C. Boyle, Stephen J. Edwards, Victor Povar, Eniko I. Rozsa, Ibrahim Mohamed Salah El Din Ahmed, Ahmed Samir Serour Mousa El-Gamal, Craig M. Trim, Claire R. Turner

Patent number: 9009085Abstract: A method of integrated automatic support and assistance includes identifying a user and retrieving models representing the user's device, apparatus, service, or system, receiving a query from the user, as necessary refining the query, determining if the received query is a machine translatable query, restructuring machine translatable terms of the received query into semantic components based upon the retrieved models, determining a set of candidate knowledge bases both related to the semantic components, submitting the machine translatable query to each knowledge base of the set of candidate knowledge bases, receiving a set of responses from each knowledge base of the set of knowledge bases in response to the submitting, formatting the set of responses, submitting the formatted set of responses to the user, determining if a response of the submitted formatted set of responses is accepted by the user, applying updated weights within the formatted set of responses, and storing the updated weights for future quType: GrantFiled: August 21, 2013Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Peter C. Patent number: 8769659Abstract: A high-bandwidth direct communication path between two clients is used for voice or video calls over the Internet. An opening or a window in a firewall is made for the direct path by sending a null packet out from inside the firewall. The null packet can be a UDP packet directed to a UDP port of the other client. Initially, each client makes a TCP connection to port 80 of an external manager. Each client registers its UDP port number with the external manager. A call request from one client to the external manager results in a message from the external manager to the other client. The other client then creates the window in its firewall by transmitting the null UDP packet. Then the external manager is notified and tells the calling client to begin sending UDP packets directly to the other client through the firewall window.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2011Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Steven C. Boyle, Debra C. Kirchhoff
