  • Patent number: 6244463
Abstract: A candy dispenser in the form of a toy spacecraft having a single user action dispensing mechanism is provided. The candy dispenser may include an internal cavity to store candies. The internal cavity may be provided in the form of a cockpit for the spacecraft, with a cockpit windshield serving as a lid to retain candies therein. The dispensing mechanism may include a user-depressable button in the form of a passenger of the spacecraft, which upon a single depression, both loads a candy into a firing chamber, and fires the candy from the spacecraft. After each depression of the passenger button, the button is automatically reset to facilitate ease of use and rapid firing.

  • Patent number: 6073116
Abstract: A process for investing in a mutual fund in an overseas portfolio without incurring an initial currency cost. The process is recorded by an exchange of rights to profit or loss of a domestic portfolio of securities with an exchange of rights to profit or loss of a overseas portfolio of securities. Time is a factor in the overseas ownership, and the process requires a fixed period, for example, ten years, for the rights exchange. When the rights exchange is reversed at a preset date in the future, the exchange allows the investor to return to the domestic securities portfolio. The return is done after computing the value of each domestic securities portfolio and the current market rate for currency exchange. The process allows the reversal to be done at the differential. Once the reversal is complete, the mutual fund is managed as a standard domestic mutual fund for the investor by the manager.

  • Patent number: 5620333
Abstract: An electrical cable assembly having electrical wires, an electrical connector body, and a strain relief hood. The connector body is connected to first ends of the wires by electrical contacts. The strain relief hood is connected to the connector body and the cable. The hood has a first section snap-lock connected to the connector body and a second section attached to the cable. The first section includes a cantilevered side wall formed, at least partially, by two slots between the cantilevered side wall and two adjacent side walls. A latch for a second electrical connector is mounted over the cantilevered side wall for substantially preventing the cantilevered side wall from being outwardly deflected while the latch is connected to the hood.

  • Patent number: 5535729
Abstract: A projectile launcher includes a launcher body having a nonrotatable projectile magazine thereon, a piston and cylinder assembly in the launcher body, and a lever operated actuating mechanism on the launcher body. The actuating mechanism is operative for loading and releasing the piston in the cylinder for producing individual blasts of compressed air and also for rotating the cylinder so that sequential blasts of compressed air are delivered to sequential launching chambers on the magazine in order to launch sequential projectiles therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5433216
Abstract: An improved tonometric catheter can be configured to have one or more pressure transmitting chambers for sensing the internal pressure such as the internal abdominal pressure of a subject. The tonometric catheter is inserted into the patient such as a nasogastric catheter. The pressure sensing chamber in the form of a balloon is insufflated with a pressure transmitting medium when the balloon is in the desired location. After insufflation of the chamber the catheter is connected to a pressure transducer or manometer which then provides an output reading the internal pressure of the subject. The tonometric catheter with a pressure sensing chamber is useful for sensing the internal abdominal pressure such as during laparoscopic surgery. The sensing of internal pressure can also be used at other locations along the gut or in the cranium. The monitoring of internal pressure is also useful in conjunction with the monitoring of internal pH.

  • Patent number: 5377656
Abstract: A toy gun includes a ball holding member and a piston and cylinder assembly for producing blasts of compressed air in order to launch soft foam balls from the ball holding member. The gun further includes a water supply assembly for supplying water to the piston and cylinder assembly so that a quantity of dispersed water is expelled from the gun when a ball is launched therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5318465
Abstract: A system to connect and retain a first member with a second member. The first member has a mounting section with two arms and a bridge between the arms. The arms are canted towards each other in a general cantilever fashion and are deflectable outward from each other. The bridge extends between middle sections of the two arms and is deflectable as the arms are moved outward. The bridge can be collapsed to retain the arms in their outward position.

  • Patent number: 4976717
Abstract: A uterine retractor for an abdominal hysterectomy includes elongate shaft means having first and second opposite ends, piercing means located on the first end of the shaft means for piercing through the fundus of the uterus, and engagement means located on the second end for engaging the cervix. In use, the first end of the shaft means is guided up through the vaginal canal and inserted into the interior space of the uterus through the cervical canal. The retractor is then urged forwardly to cause the piercing means to pierce through the fundus of the uterus to position the first end of the shaft means outside the uterus in the abdominal cavity. The projecting first end of the shaft means is accessed through an incision formed in the lower abdominal wall, whereupon the retractor is pulled through the interior space of the uterus until the engagement means engages the cervix.

  • Patent number: 4826195
Abstract: A transverse beam is disposed between and pivotally connected to the rear ends of a pair of load-receiving frame members on a tractor truck. An elongated housing is secured to and depends from the transverse beam. A sleeve is slidably mounted on the housing. A hydraulically actuated ram is mounted in the housing and is operatively connected to the sleeve. A pair of relatively spaced apart elevator arms are pivotally connected at one of their ends to the truck frame members and at intermediate positions to opposite sides of the sleeve, and a hitch mechanism is secured to the ends of the elevator arms outwardly of the sleeve. The hitch mechanism includes a central rotatable portion provided with a ring-shaped hitch and a separable latch projecting outwardly in opposite directions.

  • Patent number: 4813820
Abstract: A method and apparatus for in situ drilling of a precise hole in an erected structural element and inserting in such hole in pressed-fit relationship a cylindrical strain gauge. A guide block is provided having a precision hole corresponding to the diameter of the hole desired in the structural element. The guide block has unthreaded bolt holes for attachment of the guide block to the structural element and guides a reamer to produce a precise hole in the structural element. The guide block also has threaded holes for advancing a push plate against a force-transmitting bushing which is insertable through the precision hole in the guide block into abutting relationship with an end face of a cylindrical strain gauge to force the gage into press-fit relationship with the precise hole in the erected structural element.
