  • Patent number: 7996227
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for interpreting and describing graphic images. In an embodiment, the method of inserting a description of an image into an audio recording includes: interpreting an image and producing a word description of the image including at least one image keyword; parsing an audio recording into a plurality of audio clips, and producing a transcription of each audio clip, each audio clip transcription including at least one audio keyword; calculating a similarity distance between the at least one image keyword and the at least one audio keyword of each audio clip; and selecting the audio clip transcription having a shortest similarity distance to the at least one image keyword as a location to insert the word description of the image. The word description of the image can then be appended to the selected audio clip to produce an augmented audio recording including the interpreted word description of the image.

  • Patent number: 7702601
Abstract: An expert system is used to recommend a customized solution for a customer. The expert system includes a set of scenarios each of which includes default facts and is associated with a detailed rule base that when applied in isolation to the default facts fully determines a prototype solution. A particular scenario is selected from the set based at least on user input. A customized solution is generated by applying the detailed rule base associated with the particular scenario to facts based at least on the user input and any default facts of the particular scenario that complement and do not conflict with the facts that are based at least on the user input. The customized solution is iteratively refined.

  • Patent number: 7369537
Abstract: A Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) system includes clients that make management connections to an external manager server using web-browsing protocols. A discovery process tests a variety of transport methods by sending packets using different protocols to several ports of the external manager. Some packets may be blocked by firewalls, while other packets are allowed to pass through. Successful packet replies indicate transport capabilities of the client. When a client makes a VoIP call to another client, the external manager compares transport capabilities of the two clients and selects a transport capability that is common to both clients. Transport methods include direct client-to-client connections using TCP or UDP to an arbitrary port or well-known port 80 or 443, and indirect using a voice-proxy server that each client connects to using web standards such as HTTP or SSL. When a client can make only outgoing connections, that client initiates the connection.

  • Publication number: 20070106434
Abstract: A display system for displaying information from plural different and diverse railroad Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems includes a web server, a number of display clients served by the web server, and plural data interfaces communicating to the web server employing a common data format. Each of the data interfaces receives a different and diverse data format from a corresponding one of the different and diverse railroad CAD systems and converts the same to the common data format. The display clients may include a user interface display for railroad dispatch monitoring of a geographic region. The display includes a plurality of train track diagrams for the geographic region, in which the train track diagrams are substantially oriented in a first direction and a different second direction, which is substantially normal to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 7086813
Abstract: A “snap-in” bit chuck assembly for a rotary hand or powered tool, includes an elongated body having a hex shank at its rearward end, an elongated retraction collar slidably disposed on the body, and an outer retaining collar fixed to the forward end of the body. The body has a coaxial hex socket formed therein to allow a reversible tool to be inserted thereinto. A slot is formed in the body, between the outer surface of the body and the internal hex socket. A coil spring surrounds the body, inside the retraction collar, and normally biases the retraction collar forwardly and biases a retaining clip toward the bottom of the angular slot. The retaining clip slides outwardly in the angular slot, against the bias of the coil spring, as the reversible tool is inserted, where a recess on the reversible tool is engaged and retained by the clip. The tool is removed by sliding the retraction collar rearwardly, to compress the coil spring and allow the retaining clip to retract back up the slot.

  • Patent number: 7077475
Abstract: A child restraint system comprises a retractor attached to a child seat. A restraint harness is coupled at one end to the automatic retractor and is releasably attached at another end to a buckle attached to the child seat. The retractor is normally biased to tighten the harness but will yield to an opposite force sufficient to overcome the normal bias. The harness may be further tightened by actuating a manual adjustment device. The restraint harness may be any suitable restraint harness including a three-point, four-point, or five-point restraint.

  • Patent number: 6978383
Abstract: A high-bandwidth direct communication path between two clients is used for voice or video calls over the Internet. An opening or a window in a firewall is made for the direct path by sending a null packet out from inside the firewall. The null packet can be a UDP packet directed to a UDP port of the other client. Initially, each client makes a TCP connection to port 80 of an external manager. Each client registers its UDP port number with the external manager. A call request from one client to the external manager results in a message from the external manager to the other client. The other client then creates the window in its firewall by transmitting the null UDP packet. Then the external manager is notified and tells the calling client to begin sending UDP packets directly to the other client through the firewall window.
