The device and method comprises an input part for receiving an image; a block classification part for dividing the received image into blocks and classifying the divided blocks into character blocks and background blocks; a character block energy calculation part for calculating an average energy ratio of the character blocks; and a blurring detection part for calculating an average energy ratio of the character blocks and determining whether or not the image is blurred based on a comparison of the average energy ratio with a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A device and method for displaying image data and user interface (UI) data in a mobile terminal. A camera outputs captured image data to be displayed and a synchronous signal. The mobile terminal generates UI data. In response to the synchronous signal from the camera, a selector divides a frame data time into a first time and a second time. The selector selects and outputs the image data in the first time. The selector selects and outputs the UI data in the second time. A display unit displays the image data and UI data output from the selector on corresponding display areas.

Abstract: A method for performing a recording operation in a video communication mode of a wireless terminal are provided, where the video communication mode of the wireless terminal is switched to a recording mode for performing the recording operation, and video data are evaluated to determine if received in the recording mode of video communication. When the video data are not received, although a predetermined time passes, the recording mode of the video communication is performed while inserting preset substitution image data. When the video data are received before the predetermined time passes, the received video data is checked to determine if an error is included, and when the received video data includes abnormal video data, the recording mode of the video communication is performed while inserting preset substitution image data.

Abstract: A method and terminal for performing a video communication service where the operation mode of the mobile communication terminal switches to a screen sharing mode upon receipt of a screen sharing request from a user during a video communication, screen data selected according to user selection information in the screen sharing mode is output to a display unit, the screen data displayed on the display unit is acquired, and the acquired screen data is transmitted instead of the user's video data to a corresponding terminal performing the video communication.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for performing a video communication service in a mobile communication terminal, including: presetting image data for substituting for video data transmitted from a transmission-side terminal; determining if the video data transmitted from the transmission-side terminal are abnormal data in video communication; and when the video data are abnormal data, replacing the video data with the preset image data and displaying the image data. When video data transmitted from a transmission-side terminal are abnormal data in video communication, image data set by a user are output instead of the abnormal data, so that a video communication service can be performed without the stoppage or distortion of a video data output screen. When any video data are not transmitted from a transmission-side terminal in video communication, image data set by a user are displayed so that a video communication service even can be efficiently performed.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of communicating image data to a second communications device from a first communications device while the first communications device is in an image communications mode of operation. The method includes the steps of checking the codecs of the second communications device when receiving an image communication; storing the codecs of the second communications device if the codecs of the first communications device do not match with the codecs of the second communications device; and encoding selected image data using one of the codecs of the second communications device when the encoded selected image data is to be transmitted to the second communications device.

The method comprises the steps of determining whether the folder is in the first lengthwise position or in the second crosswise position after inputting or selecting a telephone number of a distant party, and trying to establish video communication with the distant party if the folder is in the second crosswise position.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing communication in response to a video telephone call in a wireless terminal having a main body, and a folder pivotally mounted on said main body, are disclosed. Abstract: A method and terminal for changing the operation mode in a mobile terminal in order to automatically offer an upright display of image data are provided, where a rotating direction of a folder of the mobile terminal is detected, when the folder is rotated in the camera mode, and a determination is made as to whether a camera module is exposed, if the folder is rotated in a direction to enter at least one of a camera stop mode and video transmission stop mode. The camera stop mode is entered for terminating the camera mode, if the camera module is not exposed. The video transmission stop mode is changed, if the camera module is not exposed. Image data is then rotated in a direction and an angle corresponding to the rotation of the camera module and displaying the image data in an upright direction.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling video data in a wireless terminal having a normal video communication mode and a video mute mode is provided. The wireless terminal can be switched to the video mute mode if a user selects the video mute mode during normal video communication mode, thereby enabling video data preselected by the user to be presented on the terminal's display and transmitted to a distant party. The terminal can also display and transmit preselected video data if no video data is received from a distant party within a given time.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting a text message in a wireless terminal. The apparatus and method include displaying data input when creating a text message and analyzing the data in order to check whether the data are character display instruction words. Character image information corresponding to the character display instruction words is searched. The character image information is added to the display instruction words, and the display instruction words having the character image information are added to the text message. Character data are added to the text message if the data are general character data. The above steps are repeated and recipient information for the character text message is input when the character text message has been created. The created character text message is then transmitted.

Abstract: An image data output control apparatus for enhancing a screen update speed to naturally update a screen is provided. The image data output control apparatus comprises first and second memories each for buffering image data of one screen, a host processor for selecting the first and second memories alternately as a display buffer for output of image data of a current screen and a screen buffer for storage of image data of a subsequent new screen, writing the image data of the subsequent screen into the screen buffer to construct the subsequent screen, and outputting the image data of the current screen stored in the display buffer. An output terminal outputs image data from any one of the first and second memories as image data for a screen to be displayed through a display unit.
