  • Publication number: 20070282381
Abstract: A cardiac rhythm management (CRM) system includes an implantable medical device that delivers anti-tachyarrhythmia therapies including anti-tachyarrhythmia pacing (ATP) and a hemodynamic sensor that senses a hemodynamic signal. The implantable medical device includes a hemodynamic sensor-controlled closed-loop ATP system that uses the hemodynamic signal for ATP capture verification. When ATP pulses are delivered according to a selected ATP protocol to terminate a tachyarrhythmia episode, the implantable medical device performs the ATP capture verification by detecting an effective cardiac contraction from the hemodynamic signal. The ATP protocol is adjusted using an outcome of the ATP capture verification.

  • Patent number: 7305439
Abstract: A group-browsing system for a plurality of clients each including a shared web browser when browsing non-secure parts of a web site. A server is linked to the shared web browser of each client and is configured to monitor the transmission of the web site URL request from the shared web browser of one client of the group and to direct the request to the shared web browser of other clients in the group. A gatekeeper module is configured to first mask the identity of each client's computer on the shared browser. This prevents the web site from retrieving any client's actual identifier. Second, the gatekeeper is also configured to create a same temporary identifier for each client when any client logs on to the web site so that the same web page is displayed for all the clients in the group. When browsing secure parts of a web site, a non-shared web browser is executed instead of using the shared web browser to avoid sharing sensitive or personal information.

  • Publication number: 20070231248
Abstract: Supported catalysts include an inorganic solid support such as silica that is functionalized to have inorganic acid functional groups attached thereto. The functionalization of the support material is optimized by (i) limiting the amount of water present during the functionalization reaction, (ii) using a concentrated mineral acid or derivative thereof, and/or (iii) increasing the reaction temperature and/or reaction pressure. The acid-functionalized support material serves as a support for a metal nanoparticle catalyst. The nanocatalyst particles are preferably bonded to the support material through an organic molecule, oligomer, or polymer having functional groups that can bind to both the nanocatalyst particles and to the support material. The supported catalysts can advantageously be used for the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide from hydrogen and oxygen feed streams.

  • Publication number: 20070219084
Abstract: Metal-containing colloids are manufactured by reacting a plurality of metal ions and a plurality of organic agent molecules to form metal complexes in a mixture having a pH greater than about 4.25. The metal complexes are reduced for at least 0.5 hour to form stable colloidal nanoparticles. The extended reduction time improves the stability of the colloidal particles as compared to shorter reduction times. The stability of the colloidal particles allows for colloids with higher concentrations of metal to be formed. The concentration of metal in the colloid is preferably at least about 150 ppm by weight.

  • Patent number: 7242010
Abstract: A broad bandwidth detector to measure intensity information of terahertz (THz) frequency pulses. The detector includes: coupling optics coupled to a coherent optical source; a GaSe substrate aligned such that the probe beam path intersects a first surface at a phase-matching angle; a polarization detector aligned in the probe beam path; and calculation means coupled to the polarization detector. The coupling optics direct the probe optical beam along a beam path that is substantially collinear with the pulse beam path of the THz frequency pulses. The polarization of the probe optical beam is varied based on interactions between the probe optical beam and the THz frequency pulses within the GaSe substrate. The polarization detector detects the varied polarization of the probe optical beam. The calculation means determine the intensity information of the THz frequency pulses based on the detected probe polarization of the probe optical beam.

  • Patent number: 7239775
Abstract: An optical delay line for use with an optical source including input/output optics optically coupled to the optical source and a curved mirror with a reflective surface that is centered about an evolute curve of the delay line to retro-reflect light traveling along a delay line beam path tangent to the edge of the evolute curve. The input/output optics direct light from the optical source along the delay line beam path and direct delayed light from the delay line beam path out of the optical delay line along an output beam path. The input/output optics and/or the curved mirror rotate about the evolute curve at a selected angular speed. The reflective surface has a curvature based on a parametric curve that is calculated from the evolute curve such that the delay of the delay line varies according to a predetermined function as the input/output optics and/or the curved mirror rotate.

  • Publication number: 20070145276
Abstract: A method of analyzing a remotely-located object includes the steps of inducing a volume of an ionized ambient gas to emit pulsed terahertz radiation directed toward a targeted object by focusing an optical pump beam in the volume and ionizing another volume of the ambient gas to produce a sensor plasma by focusing an optical probe beam in the other volume of ambient gas. The interaction, in the sensor plasma, of the focused optical probe beam and an incident terahertz wave, which is produced by the targeted object reflecting, scattering, or transmitting the pulsed terahertz radiation, produces a resultant radiation. Detecting an optical component of the resultant radiation emitted by the sensor plasma facilitates detection of a signature of the targeted object imposed onto the incident terahertz radiation.
