    Abstract: The present invention provides a biomedical monitoring system combining a mobile device. Signals can be transmitted between the sensing device and the mobile device via the audio interface by modulating and demodulating the audio signals or encoding and decoding the digital signals. Thereby, it can be applied extensively to mobile devices having audio jacks and thus bringing more convenience. In addition, because the mobile devices inherently have the functions of operational processes, transmission, storage, interface operations, result displaying, network connection, image extraction, and power supply, the required components in sensing devices can be simplified substantially and hence reducing the volume and the manufacturing cost.

Each build-in card reader is electrically connected to one built-in downstream port of the USB hub. The controller connects to the USB hub and the build-in card reader to monitor the connection requirement of the build-in card reader. When the controller determines the build-in card reader does not need to be kept connected, the controller sets the status of its corresponding built-in downstream port as a “first status,” which defines the corresponding built-in downstream port is not connected. Thus, the computer system is informed that the built-in downstream port is not connected.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a video/audio module applied to a computer system. The video/audio module includes a circuit board, at least one analog microphone unit, and at least one analog-to-digital converter. The analog microphone unit and the analog-to-digital converter are electrically connected and fixed to the circuit board. The analog microphone unit captures an audio signal from ambient air and converts it to an analog audio signal. The analog-to-digital converter receives the analog audio signal and transforms the analog audio signal into a digital audio signal. Because of the analog-to-digital converter, a digital microphone unit can be replaced by the analog microphone unit, thereby reducing the production cost of the video/audio module.

    Abstract: A universal serial bus (USB) apparatus for lowering power consumption is provided. The universal serial bus apparatus includes a universal serial bus circuitry, a monitor unit, and a system duty clock generator. The monitor unit is used to monitor a start of frame (SOF) packet generated by the universal serial bus circuitry and generates a clock control signal accordingly. The system duty clock generator receives the clock control signal and a reference clock signal to generate a system duty clock signal. The enable or disable status of the system duty clock signal can be determined according to the SOF packet monitored by the monitor unit so as to make the universal serial bus apparatus enter into runtime idle mode to lower the power consumption.

    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for adaptively calculating a start position of a series of symbols are provided. The method is applied to a frame synchronization circuit that implements the apparatus for calculating the symbolic start position of a packet-switching communication system. Even under the situations such as higher frequency offset, the frequency offset value approaching zero or unstable frequency offset, the frame synchronization circuit using the claimed method still can estimate the symbolic start position. The preferred method includes a first step of retrieving the signals in a unit of packets, and calculating their delay correlation value. Next, a control circuit is incorporated to retrieve multiple groups of symbols, and to set the parameters of the systems as a basis for identifying the system's property. After that, it's to estimate the symbolic start position.

    Abstract: A KVM switch and an operation method thereof can share at least one USB device to a plurality of computers, and the computers can directly communicate with the USB device through a switch module. The KVM switch further comprises a microprocessor and a USB controller. When switching in the KVM switch, by using the set information command in USB specification, the microprocessor can control the USB controller to interfere in setting the USB device to become receiving a signal sent by the computer which recognition data is representative. Then, the computers need not execute the enumeration process to recognize the USB device in every switching time.     Abstract: A digital photo frame with a power saving function includes a time-counting unit, a sensing unit, a displaying unit, and a processing unit.     Abstract: Device and method for calculating channel state information (CSI) are disclosed. The device and method are applied to calculate the channel state information of a dual-carrier modulation system. When a channel equalization value is transmitted into this system, an absolute-value computing unit computes the absolute value for each equalization value. The absolute-value computing unit is electrically connected to a channel classifying unit that is used to separate signals to two channels. Every channel is connected to the equalization-value comparing unit. One smaller value resulted from a comparison operation is employed as the new-defined CSI for these two channels. Afterward, this CSI can be used in a decoder for enhancing the performance of dual-carrier modulation system in a multi-path fading channel.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for estimating and compensating sampling frequency offset are disclosed. Particularly, a linear mathematical scheme is employed to calculate the related phase difference for saving use of multipliers and storage circuit used for sampling frequency offset estimation and compensation in the conventional art. The preferred embodiment of the invention has a first step to receive signals by the offset estimating circuit. Next, the phase value for each signal is calculated, and the pilot signal therein is retrieved. Next, a phase difference is obtained by subtraction operation between the received symbols and the delayed pilot symbols. And a circuit for storing the phase differences is incorporated. Next, a phase difference between the adjacent symbols is obtained by accumulating the phases and processing the least-error-sum-of-squares operation. Therefore, an estimation value of the sampling frequency offset of a communication system is obtained, and further to compensate the offset.
