    Abstract: A method to access storage device through universal serial bus (USB) is disclosed in the present invention. The storage device includes a flash controller and a flash memory. The method includes: (1)connecting the storage device to a USB interface of an electronic device such as a computer; (2)transferring a plurality of access (reading/writing) instructions to a flash controller from the electronic device;(3)deciding which data needed to be temporarily saved in a flash random access memory and the priority order of the access instructions according to a mapping table of a flash file system by the flash controller; (4)writing the data temporarily saved in the flash random access memory into the flash memory according to the priority order by the flash controller. The method can enhance the operation efficiency of the storage device.

    Abstract: A method of overcurrent protection for multi-slot flash memory card reader mainly includes integrating overcurrent protection circuit and power-supply circuit for the multiple slots of the card reader into one single control chip; and, when the overcurrent protection circuit detects an overcurrent at a particular slot, cutting off power supply to that particular slot of the card reader and enabling an overcurrent state register, so that a signal is provided to firmware in the control chip to display an icon of the card reader on a computer as a state indicating an abnormal condition. Whereby, the card reader and a flash memory card inserted therein, or other apparatus connected thereto would not be damaged when an overcurrent occurs, and a user may clearly know the exact point on the card reader where the overcurrent occurs.

    Abstract: An ExpressCard device is applied to a computer system, and comprises a USB connector, an ExpressCard interface connector, and a control unit. The USB connector is used to connect with a USB interface provided by the computer system, the ExpressCard interface connector is used to connect with an ExpressCard interface provided by the computer system, and the control unit is used to transmit data to the computer system via either the ExpressCard interface connector or the USB connector at the same time. The ExpressCard interface connector is based on the USB standard so that the ExpressCard interface connector or the USB connector is connected with the control unit via a same USB signal pin. Thereby, the present invention allows a single ExpressCard device without an adapter to be applied to the computer system with different connection interfaces.

    Abstract: In a method of testing integrated circuit (IC), a personal computer host and related software and hardware are used to constitute a system for conducting and controlling IC test. The method includes the steps of: (a) starting the test and using the computer host to drive a loading-unloading device to position an IC to be tested on a testing module; (b) determining whether a testing unit electrically connected to the testing module is in a normal condition or not; (c) driving the testing unit, if it is in normal condition, so as to test the IC positioned on the testing module; (d) picking up and collecting the tested IC to position it in a specific collecting box, depending on whether the tested IC is normal or abnormal; and (e) ending the test. The test of IC can be economically and conveniently conducted through controlling the personal computer host.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an improved design of the signal switch, wherein the signal switch comprises at least one combinational logic such as a chip, a plurality of hosts and at least one set of input control device such as a keyboard and a mouse. The chip can further comprise one or more virtual keyboard controller and a plurality of hubs and a multiplexer. The multiplexer of the present invention is utilized to detect and interpret signals. The present invention utilizes the combinational logic design of the chips and the multiplexer to provide a signal switch that can share multi-upstream devices but less downstream ports, only one set of keyboard and mouse is required. Multiplexing downstream devices among multiple hubs, which are dedicated to upstream hosts, help reducing the whole enumeration process of time.

    Abstract: A method for loading configuration data onto a non-volatile memory and the device using the same is provided. A non-volatile memory block is preloaded with a certain compatible memory configuration data in advance when the memory device is being manufactured. The memory configuration data comprises plural parameters corresponding to the non-volatile memory. When readying the memory device, the preloaded configuration data is loaded onto a random-access memory thereof so as to save the space in a read-only memory used for storing the memory's identification and its specification. Additionally, means for loading the configuration data from the preload zone onto the random-access memory is introduced to update the firmware.

    Abstract: A method for automatically regulating an oscillator is applicable to a low-speed USB interface connecting system and includes the steps of (a) providing a voltage-controlled oscillator in a USB interface for generating a controllable oscillating signal to a USB electronic device; (b) feeding back the controllable oscillating signal to a frequency comparing unit for comparing the controllable oscillating signal with a Keep Alive Strobe signal in the USB interface; (c) inputting an output signal of the frequency comparing unit to a frequency regulating unit for changing the frequency of the controllable oscillating signal according to a signal regulating voltage fed back from the frequency comparing unit; and (d) repeating (b) and (c) to synchronize the controllable oscillating signal with the Keep Alive Strobe signal in the USB interface; so that the USB interface connecting system and the USB electronic device may be quickly synchronized for data transmission at reduced cost.
