  • Patent number: 8690748
Abstract: A signal processing method and system combines multi-scale decomposition, such as wavelet, pre-processing together with a compression technique, such as an auto-associative artificial neural network, operating in the multi-scale decomposition domain for signal denoising and extraction. All compressions are performed in the decomposed domain. A reverse decomposition such as an inverse discrete wavelet transform is performed on the combined outputs from all the compression modules to recover a clean signal back in the time domain. A low-cost, non-drug, non-invasive, on-demand therapy braincap system and method are pharmaceutically non-intrusive to the body for the purpose of disease diagnosis, treatment therapy, and direct mind control of external devices and systems. It is based on recognizing abnormal brainwave signatures and intervenes at the earliest moment, using magnetic and/or electric stimulations to reset the brainwaves back to normality.

  • Publication number: 20130240389
Abstract: The present invention discloses a connecting clasp and a multi-disc optical disc cartridge using the connecting clasp for connection. The connecting clasp comprises two half bodies rotationally connecting with each other, wherein one half body can rotate around the other one at a degree from 0° to 180°. The multi-disc optical disc cartridge comprises multiple transparent disc sheets for accommodating optical discs. When the connecting clasp is used for connecting the multiple disc sheets, the two half bodies are inserted into the corresponding mounting sites of the adjacent disc sheets respectively so as to rotationally connect the disc sheets. Therefore, the adjacent disc sheets can rotate relative to each other at a degree from 0° to 180°, or even be displayed in the manner of turning pages at a degree from 0° to 360° when multiple disc sheets are connected together.

  • Patent number: 8344942
Abstract: Range and Doppler ambiguities are common in radar, lidar, and acoustic systems. Resolving these ambiguities is important to achieve desirable geolocation and image quality performance in these systems. A new method is described to iteratively resolve the ambiguities. For Doppler ambiguity applications, a first PRF value and an initial Doppler frequency search window are selected. A new PRF is determined based on the ratio of the initial search window to the first PRF. The radar data of the first pair of PRF's is used to determine two modulo Doppler estimates. The modulo Doppler estimates are used to determine a new Doppler estimate with a confidence interval smaller than the first search window. The ratio of the new Doppler search window to the first PRF, is used to determine the next PRF. This process is iterated until the new Doppler search window is less than the first PRF.

  • Patent number: 7519488
Abstract: A signal processing method and system combining smooth level wavelet pre-processing together with artificial neural networks all in the wavelet domain for signal denoising and extraction. Upon receiving a signal corrupted with noise, an n-level decomposition of the signal is performed using a discrete wavelet transform to produce a smooth component and a rough component for each decomposition level. The nth level smooth component is then inputted into a corresponding neural network pre-trained to filter out noise in that component by pattern recognition in the wavelet domain. Additional rough components, beginning at the highest level, may also be retained and inputted into corresponding neural networks pre-trained to filter out noise in those components also by pattern recognition in the wavelet domain. In any case, an inverse discrete wavelet transform is performed on the combined output from all the neural networks to recover a clean signal back in the time domain.

  • Patent number: 7366197
Abstract: The present invention is to provide method and apparatus for adapting a GBIC module to an Ethernet switch capable of outputting one of different voltages in which in a case of the GBIC module coupled to the Ethernet switch, a DC converter of the GBIC module is adapted to lower an input voltage thereof supplied by the Ethernet switch prior to boosting the lowered voltage to an operating voltage required by a GBIC logic circuit of the GBIC module without confirming whether the input voltage has the same value as the operating voltage. Thus, the present invention can prevent the GBIC module from not working due to low input voltage or being damaged due to high current when the GBIC module is coupled to the Ethernet switch.

  • Publication number: 20070163425
Abstract: A music retrieval system which take an input melody as the query. In one embodiment, changes or differences in the distribution of energy across the frequency spectrum over time are used to find breakpoints in the input melody in order to separate it into distinct notes. In another embodiment the breakpoints are identified based on changes in pitch over time. A confidence level is preferably associated with each breakpoint and/or note extracted from the input melody. The confidence level is based on one or more of: changes in pitch, absolute values of a spectral energy distribution indicator, relative values of the spectral energy distribution indicator, and the energy level of the input melody. The process of matching the input melody with songs in the music database is based on minimizing a cost computation that takes into account errors in the insertion and deletion of notes, and penalizes these errors in accordance with the confidence levels of the breakpoints and/or notes.

  • Patent number: 7076371
Abstract: A set of volatile markers are determined which are characteristic of a particular condition or disease, and which will be found in the exhaled breath of a person or odor from other parts of a body or from an entity. These markers are detected in the breath odor or gaseous emanations from the body or entity noninvasively using a volatile substance detector of sufficient sensitivity, such as an artificial olfactory system. The detected marker data is processed in an artificial neural network/fuzzy filter system with an algorithm that intelligently adapts to the individual body or entity and also optionally (if necessary) with a correction algorithm to eliminate environmental and other erroneous contributions to the markers. Any number of markers may be used, depending on how well they correlate with the condition and how accurate a result is desired, i.e. general screening or accurate diagnosis and monitoring.
