  • Publication number: 20030098852
Abstract: An optical mouse for analyzing an image on the surface of an object to move an indicator on a computer screen. The optical mouse includes a housing, a lens holder, an EL element, a lens and a sensor. The lens holder is disposed in the housing and has a sidewall and a bay. The EL element is disposed on the sidewall of the lens holder and emits uniform light to the surface of the object to generate reflected light therefrom. The lens is disposed in the bay of the lens holder and images the reflected light to an imaging position. The sensor is disposed in the housing and in the imaging position and receives the reflected light to obtain the image from the surface of the object.

  • Publication number: 20030081129
Abstract: A method to detect the movement of an image sensor. Movement is detected according to a first, second, third, and fourth frame, all captured by the image sensor. A first captured image region is captured from the first frame. Then, a first corresponding region matching the first captured image region is captured from the second frame, wherein the first corresponding region shifts in a predetermined direction relative to the first captured image region. Next, a second captured image region is captured from the third frame, wherein the second captured image region shifts in a direction opposite to the predetermined direction relative to the first captured image region. Then, a second corresponding region matching the second captured image region is captured from the fourth frame. Finally, the movement of the image sensor is determined according to the second captured image region and the second corresponding region.

  • Publication number: 20020101728
Abstract: A warning structure applied on transportation means and traffic facilities to improve nighttime drive safety essentially by applying an illuminating, primary course on the exposed mechanical parts such as a rim or a license plate on the transportation means or mark lines on roadway, then a finishing course of friction resistant coating is applied over and to protect the primary course, within, said illuminating course absorbs photo energy emitted from the sun and lights, then release such energy in visible light particularly during nighttime or rainy day to improve the visibility for the driver.

  • Patent number: 5838050
Abstract: A CMOS device containing a plurality of hexagon cells over a semiconductor substrate is disclosed. Each hexagon cell includes a hexagonal ring gate, a drain diffusion region and a source diffusion region. The hexagonal ring gate is made of conducting materials and a dielectric layer over the substrate, therefore defining a channel region in the substrate between the gate and the substrate. The entire drain diffusion region in the substrate is enclosed by the hexagonal ring gate. The source diffusion region surrounds the hexagonal ring gate in the substrate. Each hexagon cell further provides a drain contact in the center of the drain diffusion region. A plurality of source contacts are arranged around the ring gate over the substrate. The hexagon cells of a unique hexagon device are surrounded by a first guard ring and a second guard ring. The hexagon device can be used as a CMOS output buffer or input ESD protection circuit to reduce the layout area of an integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 5714784
Abstract: The present invention is an electronic device, and more particularly an MOS transistor. A square-type layout style is used to realize the MOS device. By using the present layout style, the output driving/sinking capability of output buffers as well as the ESD protection capability of NMOS and PMOS devices in output buffers or input ESD protection circuits are significantly improved within smaller layout area. Both drain diffusion area and drain-to-bulk parasitic capacitance at the output node are reduced by this square-type layout. Devices using the present layout style can be assembled to form larger, rectangular (or square) and similarly functioning devices. Thus, the present square-type layout style is very attractive to submicron CMOS VLSI/ULSI in high-density and high-speed applications.

  • Patent number: 5422247
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a method for producing beta-carotene using a mated culture of Mucorales fungi. The method includes mutating and selecting negative (minus mating type) and positive (plus mating type) Mucorales fungal microorganisms, culturing the selected negative and positive microorganisms in an effective medium to form a mated culture that produces beta-carotene, and recovering beta-carotene therefrom. The present invention provides mated cultures that overproduce beta-carotene and is also directed to certain negative and positive microorganisms used to overproduce beta-carotene. The present invention also provides beta-carotene formulations produced by the claimed method, and the use of such formulations, for example, to enhance pigmentation, to reduce damage caused by reactive oxygen species or phototoxic molecules, to prevent or treat cancer or cardiovascular disease, to provide a Vitamin A supplement, to enhance lactation, and to increase fertility.
