Abstract: An electronic device includes a storage unit, a touch screen, and a processor. The storage unit stores a relationship table recording a mapping relationship between touch inputs and a number of commands. The touch screen includes a command input region for generating signals in response to user's handwritten touch input. The size of the command input region is smaller than the size of the touch screen. The processor includes an image processing module, an identification module, and a control module. The image processing module creates an image of touch input according to the generated signals. The identification module identifies the touch input of the user according to the generated signals, and retrieves a command associated with the touch input. The control module controls displaying the created image of the touch input on the command input region, and controls the electronic device to execute the retrieved command.

Abstract: A street light includes a post, a light source mounted on the post, a communicating unit, a button unit, a camera unit, a storage unit, and a central control unit. The communicating unit communicates with a server which includes an alarm system. The button unit and the camera unit are mounted on the post. The central control unit enables the camera unit to take photo of an area adjacent to the street light in response to manual operation of the button unit. The storage unit stores location information of the street light and the photos taken by the camera unit. The central control unit further transmits the photo and the location information obtained from the storage unit to the server via the communication unit. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: A method for offering services according to facial expressions is provided. The method has an electronic device storing a service database recording at least one user's information. The method activates an offering service function; captures facial expressions of the user; extracting the features of the facial expressions; compares the extracted features with the features in images of the facial expressions stored in the service database, so as to identify a corresponding feature stored in the service database, and determines the type of expression and the service corresponding thereto from images of the user stored in the service database; and activates and provides the determined service. An electronic device using the method is also provided.

Abstract: An exemplary provided screen unlocking method for an electronic device with a touch screen comprises the following steps: displaying a screen unlocking interface on the touch screen; generating unlocking signals in response to an unlocking operation applied on the touch screen; determining whether the enduring touch time period of the unlocking operation reaches a predetermined touch time period, and whether the touch area of the unlocking operation reaches a predetermined touch area, according to the unlocking signals; and unlocking the touch screen when the enduring touch time period of the unlocking operation reaches the predetermined touch time period, and the touch area of the unlocking operation reaches the predetermined touch area. An electronic device using the screen unlocking method is also provided.

Abstract: A page zooming method for an electronic device having a touch screen and a storage unit is provided. The method includes the following steps: generating operation signals in response to a touch operation applied on a page displayed on the touch screen; determining the touch operation being a zooming gesture if the touch operation comprising a press operation and a slide operation at a same time; determining the slide direction and determining the type of the zooming gesture according to the determined slide direction of the slide operation, the type of the zooming gesture comprising a zooming in gesture and a zooming out gesture; creating a zoomed page of the page displayed on the touch screen according to the type of the zooming gesture; and displaying the zoomed page on the touch screen. An electronic device using the page zooming method is also provided.

The method includes the steps of: displaying a first cube consisting of a plurality of stacked layers, the stacked layers comprising a top layer displaying a current active icon group and remaining layers beneath the top layer associated with corresponding inactive icon groups; displaying a second cube consisting of a plurality of stacked layers, the stacked layers each associated with a inactive icon group; determining the touched region; determining the type of the touch by the user; retrieving a target page stored in the storage unit or creating a target page; creating at least one new icon group; and displaying the target page on the page display region, and updating the icon groups on the first and second cubes. Abstract: An electronic device capable of simulating page flip effect includes an input unit, a display unit, a page flip control module and a thickness control module. The input unit generates a flip-page instruction in response to a user's operation. The display unit displays an electronic document in a page flipping format which includes a currently displayed page and a margin portion adjacent to the currently displayed page, and the margin portion includes a plurality of displayed stacked margins of undisplayed pages. The margins cooperatively resemble a thickness of the undisplayed pages. The page flip control module flips the currently displayed page over in response to the flip-page instruction to display a page flipping effect on the display unit. The thickness control module adds or removes a margin displayed in the margin portion, in response to the flip-page instruction to present a variation of the thickness of the undisplayed pages accordingly.

Abstract: A charging management system applied in a public facility includes a communicating unit communicating with a server with an online payment system, a charge interface, a power converting unit, a billing unit, and a control unit. The power converting unit converts power provided by a power supply to charge an electronic device connected to the charge interface. The control unit generates an electronic bill according to a charging cost computed by the billing unit, sends the electronic bill to the server, and communicates with the online payment system of the server to pay for the electronic bills. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: A text reading guide method for an electronic device including a display screen and a storage unit is provided. The storage unit stores a database recording a number of feature values of images and a plurality of coordinates. Each set of coordinates corresponds to a display region and is associated with a feature value. The method includes the steps of capturing an image of finger of a user; extracting a finger image feature value from the captured finger image; searching the database to find a matching finger image feature value, and retrieving the coordinates associated with the finger image feature value; determining the display content on the display region corresponding to the retrieved coordinates; and displaying the determined contents in a manner of highlighting on the display screen. The central processing unit includes a control module, a searching module, and a spit-screen module. The control module generates a first window on the touch display unit to display a text document when the text document is opened, and determines a selected text of the displayed text document by a user according to touch positions when the touch display unit is touched. The searching module searches occurrences of the selected text in the text document, and the control module stores the searched text in the storage unit. The spit-screen module displays each occurrence of the selected text on a second window produced thereby with a size thereof smaller than that of the first window. A related method is also provided.

The storage unit stores a parameter table comprising a plurality of parameters, and each parameter includes a first group of coordinates to determine the first part of a page and a second group of coordinates to determine the second part of the page. When the user's touch crosses a predetermined area, the processing unit obtains the parameters in sequence, and produces a tear-off-page figure on the first part of a current page, to cover the second part with a second area of the following page to display a combined page.
