  • Patent number: 9321825
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an N-terminal modified PEG-TRAIL conjugate and a preparation method and use thereof. The PEG-TAIL conjugate has pharmaceutical activity identical or similar to that of native TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand) with extended in vivo half-life and enhanced stability. Compared to native TRAIL, the PEG-TAIL conjugate exhibits high solubility and solution stability, with highly improved pharmacokinetic profiles. Thus, the PEG-TAIL conjugate may be very useful for preventing and treating proliferative diseases and autoimmune diseases.

  • Patent number: 9266737
Abstract: There is provided a method and an apparatus for preparing graphite oxide. In accordance with the present disclosure, when an oxidizer is added by stages into a sequencing batch oxidizer mixer connected in multiple stages at a constantly low temperature, the oxidizer is mixed therein while suppressing an oxidation reaction. During an oxidation reaction of graphite, in a risky range of overheating and explosion, a tube type reactor equipped within a heat exchanger is used to accurately control a local temperature and the oxidizer can permeate between layers of the graphite with increased efficiency under ultrasonication. In an additional reaction range out of the risky range, a continuous stirred tank reactor is used to mature the oxidation reaction, so that a risk of explosion during manufacturing of graphite oxide can be reduced and a great amount of graphite oxide can be mass-produced economically.

  • Publication number: 20160022776
Abstract: Pro-apoptotic agents such as ligands and agonists of agonistic TRAIL receptors can induce or increase apoptosis of cells that cause fibrosis and underlying diseases such as liver, pancreatic, lung and skin diseases characterized by fibrosis, cirrhosis, or complications thereof. The compositions and methods can be used to selectively remove activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), the originators of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, and activated pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs), the originators of pancreas fibrosis and pancreatitis, and can be effective to reduce or prevent further chronic fibrosis by simultaneously reducing multiple fibrosis-associated molecules secreted or induced by such activated stellate cells. The compositions are typically effective to target agonistic TRAIL receptors such as TRAIL-R1/DR4 and TRAIL-R2/DR5 that are selectively expressed in activated HSCs and PSCs in physiological conditions.

  • Publication number: 20160004728
Abstract: In an enterprise where a database maintains multiple accounts for business customers, a method, system, and computer program product correctly links accounts which are associated with a common business. Business identification information from one or more external data sources is obtained and the format of the business identification data is standardized. Data records of business accounts are compared according to a plurality of rules for matching one business account to another. When two business accounts are found to match according to the business matching rules, a common identifier is applied to both business accounts to flag the two accounts as being associated with the same business entity. One or more hierarchy rules are applied to accounts associated with a common business, to establish a hierarchy among the accounts for purposes of marketing and other business communications.

  • Patent number: 8959370
Abstract: The invention concerns scheduling an application comprised of precedence constrained parallel tasks on a high-performance computer system. The computer system has a plurality of processors each enabled to operate on different voltage supply levels. First, a priority order for the tasks based on the computation and communication costs of the tasks is determined. Next, the based on the priority order of the tasks, assigning each task both a processor and a voltage level that substantially minimizes energy consumption and completion time for performing that task when compared to energy consumption and completion time for performing that task on different combinations of processor and voltage level. It is an advantage of the invention that the scheduling takes account not only completion time (makespan), but also energy consumption. Aspects of the invention include a method, software, a scheduling module of a computer and a schedule.

  • Patent number: 8879502
Abstract: A system and method for handing off from a first network to a second network. A determination may be made as to whether an accessible base station of the second network is located in the vicinity of a user equipment based on information on a current location of the user equipment in the first network. An activation call may be generated with a first telephone number as a caller number when an accessible base station of the second network is located in the vicinity of the user equipment based on the determination result. The activation call indicates an initiation of a search for an accessible base station of the second network, and an accessible base station of the second network may be searched for when the activation call with the first telephone number is received. A handoff from the first network to the second network may then be executed when the accessible base station of the second network is located.
