  • Patent number: 6063645
Abstract: A manufacturing method of an integrated mass flow controller (MFC) module is disclosed. The integrated MFC module is comprising top, middle and bottom parts. The middle part of the integrated MFC module which is consist of both the microvalve and sensing regions that is the key feature of the present invention. The microvalve is formed by depositing a heating element in a microbridge suspended on a mesa to control the movement of the valve. On the other hand, a series of sensing elements of the sensing region are in the mass flow path to detect the mass flow. The top and bottom parts are used for mass flow channel, mass entrance, mass exit and signal output terminals. There are bumps in the interface between middle and bottom parts to support the microvalve mesa. All three parts are first fabricated on a semiconductor wafer separately and then engaged together to complete the integrated MFC module formation.

  • Patent number: 6065123
Abstract: A computer system with unattended on-demand availability includes power-saving features which place the system into a Standby mode whenever the system is idle or is not being used. Prior to entering Standby mode, the system sets a hardware timer which indicates when the next scheduled event in the system should be performed. When either the timer expires or another event occurs which requires system operation, the system resumes to the On power state without user intervention. In one embodiment, the system of the present invention allows applications to periodically save their operational states. By saving their operational states, applications are able to guard against power failures and crashes. If a power failure or crash occurs, the system consults restart policies and, if appropriate, automatically re-starts applications to their most recently saved operational states once power is re-stored.

  • Patent number: 6063660
Abstract: A fabricating method and a structure of a stacked-type capacitor is provided comprising forming a first dielectric layer having a first via on a semiconductor substrate. A first conductive layer is filled into the first via. Then, insulating layers and dielectric layers are formed. A photolithography step is used to form a second dendriform via in the insulating layers and the dielectric layers. A second conductive layer is filled in the second dendriform via. The insulating layers and conductive layers are removed to form a dendriform lower electrode. The dendriform electrode provides a larger surface area to increase capacitance. Further, a polysilicon layer of hemispherical grains is formed to increase the surface area of the lower electrode.

  • Patent number: 6060685
Abstract: A method for monitoring the quality of a laser process such as a laser welding process includes monitoring the light emitted from the weld plasma above the surface of the workpiece irradiated by the laser beam. The intensity of the light emitted from the plasma is compared to a predetermined value of the light emission as determined under process and workpiece conditions that produce welds of acceptable quality. Variations of the monitored light intensity greater than a preselected value can be valuated as unacceptable welds. Such variations can be caused by changes in the laser beam power, the workpiece speed, laser focusing problems, insufficient shield gas flow, workpiece deformation and weld contamination. The process monitors the light emission for a selected range of wavelengths that correspond to the major emission peaks of the light spectrum. The method enables in-process control of laser processes.

  • Patent number: 6060925
Abstract: The present invention discloses a Schmitt-trigger circuit with less power consumption by reducing the amount of the required DC current. The Schmitt-trigger circuit disclosed in the present invention basically encompasses a comparison circuit, a first current cutting circuit, and a second current cutting circuit. The comparison circuit receives the input signal and then generates the output signal. Both the first and second current cutting circuits feed in the output signal, and then generate feedback signals to feed the comparison circuit for cutting the DC current path when the input signal rises or falls to predetermined trigger points. When there is only one of the first and second current cutting circuits is required, the higher or lower trigger point can be adjusted without necessary to vary the size-ratio of the PMOS and NMOS transistors.

  • Patent number: 6057171
Abstract: A method provides estimations of physical interconnect process parameter values in a process for manufacturing integrated circuits. The method includes fabricating test structures each providing a value of a measurable quantity corresponding to a value within a range of values of the physical interconnect process parameters. In some embodiments, the measured value is used to derive the values of the physical interconnect process parameters, either by a numerical method using a field solver, or by a closed-form solution. The values of physical interconnect process parameters involving physical dimensions are also obtained by measuring photomicrographs obtained using a scanning electron microscope from cross sections of test structures. In some embodiments, a family of test structures corresponding to a range of conductor widths and a range of spacings between conductors are measured.
