  • Patent number: 5102639
Abstract: A novel praseodymium-palladium oxide compound has the formula Pr.sub.4 PdO.sub.7. The compound has utility as a catalyst for oxidation of combustion mixtures comprising oxygen (e.g., air) and gaseous carbonaceous fuels such as methane and displays excellent regeneration characteristics after exposure to decomposition-causing temperatures. The compound may be used in a catalyst composition by being coated as a washcoat on a suitable carrier. Catalytic combustion processes are carried out by contacting such combustion mixture with the catalyst under combustion conditions, including catalytically supported thermal combustion. • Patent number: 5100535
Abstract: Nitrogenous compounds especially bases such as amines are used to control the operation of a hydrocracker. Catalyst activity and selectivity may be controlled by addition of the base to the feed, for example, to control the balance between isomerization and conversion in an operation using a zeolite beta catalyst. Runaway conditions may be controlled by the addition of nitrogenous compounds and if they are added at intermediate points along the length of the reactor, the temperature profile within the reactor can be effectively regulated.

  • Patent number: 5081676
Abstract: A hardware device containing a first permanent key and a second key is plugged in a specified port of a computer to establish a communication path between the hardware device and computer. The first and second keys are presented with an access sequence from the computer in the software which is desired to be controlled generating outputs which are applied to an algorithm decoder which provides a control key which is used to protect the software from unauthorized use. The control key is the resultant of the algorithm decoder and the first and second keys. One of the keys is supplied with the hardware under the control of the developer whereas the second key may be supplied with the hardware device but is not restricted to the hardware device and may be entered through a separate port of the computer. • Patent number: 5076727
Abstract: Moist, warm, clean air from a vapor treatment system is injected into wells which are screened only at the contaminated depth forcing vapor flow only through the contaminated region. Intermediate the injection wells is an extraction well which is also screened only at the contaminated depth. A vacuum is drawn on the extraction well drawing the flushing vapors from the injection wells and toward the extraction well through the contaminated soil thereby entraining some of the contaminants. The contaminants are preferably non-volatile hydrocarbons such as diesel fuel, aviation and jet fuel, crude oil or pesticides. The contaminated, flushing vapor is then treated and recycled. An MW/RF heating system heats the earth's surface and the contaminated soil, thereby enhancing volatilization of the contaminants and their removal via the vapor flushing system.
