Abstract: An apparatus includes a foreline for conveying a waste stream which is drawn from a process chamber to a pumping mechanism. The foreline comprises an isolation valve for selectively isolating the pumping mechanism from the process chamber and a bypass positioned around the isolation valve. The apparatus further comprises a controller for actuating the isolation valve. The controller is configured to cause the isolation valve to be closed when the waste stream is initially drawn from the process chamber, during which time the waste stream is conveyed to the pumping mechanism via the bypass. The bypass includes means for inhibiting propagation of a flame front therethrough. The controller is configured to cause the isolation valve to be opened once a pressure within a region upstream of the isolation valve has been reduced below a value at which propagation of a flame front within the waste stream can be sustained.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for removably or irremovably interconnectable building block containers such as those capable of initially storing consumable items such as food and drink. After consumption of the food or drink, the cavity containing same may be cleaned and/or refilled with consumable or non-consumable items. The building block containers are utilized as building block toys and may be manufactured or otherwise designed to be collectable. In one aspect, the container connectors are nearly identical such that any one connector may mate with any other connector. In another aspect, the connectors are nearly identical but the orientations of each connector vary to allow mating to occur when the connectors are properly oriented. In another aspect, the container is a cube juice box with connectors on all four corners of all six sides of the container. A frame for holding a juice container may also be utilized.

Abstract: A closed hydrostatic circuit with variable charge and variable flushing systems is disclosed. A variable displacement charge pump is configured to supply charge fluid and pilot control fluid to the hydrostatic circuit. An electronically controlled pressure regulating valve is in communication with an output of the charge pump and is linked to a controller. When the hydrostatic control system detects a high hydraulic temperature condition, the electronically controlled pressure regulating valve, that is in communication with an output of the charge pump and that is linked to a controller, increases the charge pump flow. A bidirectional variable displacement hydrostatic motor is connected in parallel to two input/output lines. A flush valve is in communication with the hydrostatic motor and both input/output lines. The flush valve and hydrostatic motor are both in communication with the flush orifice and a flush relief valve.

Abstract: Embodiments of software-supervised pairing processes are provided. The processes enable a user to pair a mouse and keyboard with a Bluetooth transceiver without having to use a second mouse and keyboard. At least two separate processes are provided, including a long transition for initial pairing or re-pairing and a short transition for re-establishing a connection after devices have already been paired.

Abstract: An emissions-control catalyst brick includes a plurality of formed metal ribbons that together define a repeating pattern of open cells. The ribbons are joined together in layers with the open cells of each layer offset from those of the adjacent layer. A catalyst wash coat is applied to the plurality of metal ribbons.

Abstract: Network communications, Web-based services and customized services using the Web-based services may be provided to drivers and users via the automobile head unit in the vehicle and via their mobile device. The automobile head unit in the vehicle and the mobile device are communicatively linked via a short range wireless connection. Also, these devices may communicate over a network such as a cellular network to a service provider that provides entertainment and informational services to the mobile device and the head unit of the vehicle. The user's profile and preferences are able to follow the user to various locations and into vehicles because this information is stored at a server accessible by the user's mobile device, and in some embodiments, also the head unit. The mobile device may provide services to the head unit if it does not have wider network connectivity over the short range wireless connection.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for video coding are disclosed, particularly for use in relation to video compression. Many commercially available video encoders support constant bit-rate encoding but not constant quality encoding. Aspects of the present invention are concerned with methods and apparatus for video coding, the methods involving the determination of bit-rates at which a constant bit-rate encoder may be operated such that segments of video can be chosen from files encoded at the bit-rates so-determined in order to produce an output bitstream in which the quality is nearly constant. Bit-stream segments may be chosen from a low bit-rate bitstream for easy-to-compress scenes, and from a high bit-rate bitstream for hard-to-compress scenes.

Abstract: Apparatus and a method are provided for inhibiting the propagation of a flame front that is ignited by a pumping mechanism which draws a waste stream from a process chamber. The apparatus comprises a foreline for conveying the waste stream which is drawn from the process chamber to the pumping mechanism. Methods and systems in accordance with embodiments of the invention validate, whether a read request is directed at a target tag to be protected, and, upon a match, respond to the read request by sending a response signal.

Abstract: A protective undergarment (10), shown in the form of shorts, includes integrally formed protective panels (22, 26, 30) that exhibit slash-proof properties. The protective areas (22, 26, 30) are made from a flexible Kevlar® knit or the like, and extend to cover the groin, crotch, substantial areas of the buttocks and the inner thigh regions of both legs. The protective panels (22, 26, 30) are externally snitched to a low thermal burden material (18, 20), such as a polyester mesh, that provides elasticity and completes the structure of the shorts (10). The Kevlar® knit is flexible and preferably lies directly against the skin of a user to provide blast wave and ballistic fragment deflection while permitting mobility in a lightweight arrangement. Varying thickness of the Kevlar® knit can be used in the protective areas (22, 26, 30) selectively to enhance protection against blast wave and fragment penetration.

Abstract: Flushing circuits for closed loop hydrostatic circuits enable overriding of the normal function of the flushing circuit during certain machine operational events where flushing can cause undesirable performance issues. The disclosed flushing circuits may prevent flow from leaving the flush valve, may prevent flow from leaving the flushing circuit, may prevent flow from entering the flushing circuit, may prevent the flush valve from shifting from a normally closed position to an open position or may replace the hydro-mechanical control of the flush valve with an electronic control. Cancellation of the flushing function may be commanded by a controller based on fluid temperatures, pressures, turning commands, engine speed, etc.

Abstract: Casings and housings for use in high speed airflow (for example for mounting on a high speed vehicle) are described. In one embodiment, a housing for imaging equipment is described. The housing has a tapering form with symmetrical angular truncations such that it tapers in the form of a wedge with two substantially planar regions. At least one substantially planar region includes an aperture formed of optically transparent material.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and computer program product provide the ability to select and display advertisements. A request for advertisements is issued to an advertisement server. An advertisement package comprised of a set of advertisements is received from the advertisement server. The set of advertisements from the advertisement package are loaded. Advertisements in the set of advertisements are delivered for display by display devices. The advertisements that are displayed are tracked in a log that is uploaded to the advertisement server.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product provide the ability to select and display advertisements. A media content viewing session is commenced. During the session, media content is displayed on a display/media content viewing device (e.g., a television or monitor). A set of advertisements are maintained in an advertisement selection receiver. Abstract: A hydraulic pump control circuit may include a pressure reducing valve selectively operable to limit the amount of fluid pressure available to an actuator operably coupled to a pump displacement volume adjusting mechanism of a variable displacement pump. The pump may be hydraulically coupled to a motor configured to provide a torque output. The reduced pressure to the actuator limits actuator travel, thereby limiting pump displacement. Accordingly, torque output of the motor may be reduced, thereby improving traction control.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing system includes a cache having one or more memories, a cache journal operable to store data associated with one or more portions of the cache, and a configuration manager operable to access the cache and the cache journal. The configuration manager is operable to determine whether the cache journal includes data associated with a first portion of the cache, and to create, in the cache journal, data associated with the first portion of the cache if the cache journal does not yet comprise data associated with the first portion of the cache. The configuration manager is also operable to determine whether the first portion of the cache is valid for use, and to communicate with a memory manager associated with the first portion of the cache regarding whether the first portion of the cache is valid for use.

Abstract: Embodiments describe manufacturing, programming, testing, and servicing of wireless computing devices utilizing their embedded wireless technology. An embodiment method ensures that the wireless computing devices are successfully programmed in the event a disruption to the manufacturing, programming, testing and servicing process flow occurs. The method includes retrieving a last known location of the wireless device before the disruption event and comparing the last known location with the location of the wireless of the wireless device after the disruption event. A wireless device may be returned to the last known location before the disruption event if there is a difference in locations. The programming at the last known location before the disruption event occurred may be successfully completed.
