  • Publication number: 20050060729
Abstract: The present invention provides a heat dissipation member for use in the optical disk drive. The present invention includes an outer frame and a chassis. The chassis has a drive module, a pickup module and two guide rods. A heat dissipation member is disposed on the pickup module and is in contact with a laser diode of the pickup module. When the drive module spins the optical disk at a rotational speed, an air flow is produced due to spinning of optical disk. A part of the air flow is directed to flow through the laser diode by the heat dissipation member so that excess heat generated by the laser diode is efficiently dissipated.

  • Publication number: 20050003420
Abstract: A method is described for increasing the activity of restriction endonuclease mutants that have altered binding or cleavage activities. Restriction endonuclease variants can carry one or more amino acid substitutions that change substrate specificity and at the same time decrease the enzyme catalytic activity. A method is described for isolating derivatives of the endonuclease variants by subjecting them to additional rounds of mutagenesis and screening in a dinD::lacZ indicator strain, such that second-site mutations within the nucleotide coding sequence of the endonuclease are obtained that increased the enzyme specific activity.

  • Patent number: 6371804
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly comprises a connector and a dielectric housing. The connector includes a case from which a first wing and a second wing. Each wing defines a through hole and an extending plane which is inclined relative to a bottom surface of the case. The housing on which the connector is mounted has an inclined base defining an opening and a first sleeve and a second sleeve. A top surface of each sleeve defines a mating surface, the two surfaces being parallel to one another and inclined relative to the base. After the plug of the connector is inserted through the opening of the housing, the mating surfaces mate with the extending planes of the corresponding wing and both the through holes and corresponding threaded recesses of the sleeves which are aligned in a vertical direction thereby facilitating an insertion of bolts to secure the connector to the housing.

  • Patent number: 6193567
Abstract: This invention provides a female terminal of one-piece construction for a printed circuit board in which the rectangular receptacle has an interlock arrangement that reduces the length of the open seam at the fourth corner of the rectangular receptacle. The interlock arrangement is accomplished by fabricating one side wall of interlocking segments that are integrally attached to opposite end walls of the rectangular receptacle so that the open seam does not run the entire length of the receptacle. The interlocking side wall segments are preferably shaped to minimize the size of the sheet metal blank to save material and reduce manufacturing costs. The contact tongues of the female terminal are also preferably shaped to provide one or more of the following features—an open and controlled contact gap to lower terminal engage force while maintaining a stable contact force; over stress projection; and double sided mating capability.

  • Patent number: 6133008
Abstract: A genomic DNA library of Thermus filiformis was constructed using pBR322 as a cloning vector. The methylase selection method was used to clone the TfiI methylase gene (tfiIM). A clone carrying an active TfiI methylase was identified. After sequencing the complete TfiI methylase gene and its downstream DNA sequence, a recombinase homolog was found. Because the methylase and its cognate endonuclease gene are located in proximity to each other in a particular restriction-modification system, efforts were made to clone the upstream DNA by inverse PCR. After two rounds of inverse PCR, one open reading frame (ORF1) was found upstream of the TfiI methylase gene. This ORF1, containing a Shine-Dalgarno sequence and a TATA box on the upstream side, was cloned and expressed, and TfiI endonuclease activity was detected in crude cell extracts. It is concluded that ORF1 encodes TfiI restriction endonuclease.

  • Patent number: 6030893
Abstract: The present invention is a chemical vapor deposition of tungsten(W-CVD)process for growing low stress and void free interconnect. The method of this invention utilizes two steps W-CVD process by two chambers. The first step, filling tungsten metal completely in the contact hole, is performed in the first chamber. The second step, forming a tungsten layer for interconnect, is performed in the second chamber. Because of using two different chambers, the method of this invention can adjust the temperature of the process and the gas flow of the WF.sub.6 vapor of the process for different required the two steps. The second step of chemical vapor deposition of tungsten by adjusting the temperature and the gas flow has reduced greatly the stress of the second conductive layer. Moreover, the first step of chemical vapor deposition of tungsten by adjusting the temperature and the gas flow prevents voids in the contact hole or in the via hole.

  • Patent number: 5775930
Abstract: The invention includes first and second electrical connectors and a connector position assurance member that is lockable in a pre-staged position. A first connector includes a pivotally connected pump handle lock arm positioned to lock on to a nub on the second connector. A connector position assurance member (CPA) is constructed for slidable movement on the first connector and includes two forward reaching arms each having a stop on a lower edge that engage a shoulder positioned on the first connector when the CPA is in a pre-staged position. In this pre-staged position, a lock arm of the CPA grabs into the pump handle on the first connector. The stop, shoulder and lock arm prevent forward or backward slidable movement of the CPA from this locked pre-staged position.
