  • Patent number: 11625323
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for session-based memory operation are described. A memory system may determine that a logical address targeted by a read command is associated with a session table. The memory system may write the session table to a cache based on the logical address being associated with the session table. After writing the session table to the cache, the memory system may use the session table to determine one or more logical-to-physical (L2P) tables and write the one or more L2P tables to the cache. The memory system may use the L2L tables to perform address translation for logical addresses.

  • Patent number: 11621042
Abstract: Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems, memory devices, and machine-readable mediums which increase read throughput by introducing a delay prior to issuing a command to increase the chances that read commands can be executed in parallel. Upon receipt of a read command, if there are no other read commands in the command queue for a given portion (e.g., plane or plane group) of the die, the controller can delay issuing the read command for a delay period using a timer. If, during the delay period, an eligible read command is received, the delayed command and the newly received command are both issued in parallel using a multi-plane read. If no eligible read command is received during the delay period, the read command is issued after the delay period expires.

  • Publication number: 20230049678
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for adjusting a granularity associated with read disturb tracking are described. In some examples, a memory system may receive a set of read commands from a host system instructing the memory system to read data stored at a memory array. The memory system may track a quantity of executed read commands corresponding to a first portion of the memory array according to a first granularity and determine whether the quantity of read commands satisfies a threshold. If the quantity of read commands satisfies the threshold, the memory system may adjust the granularity for tracking executed read commands for the first portion from the first granularity to a second granularity. For example, the memory system may increase or decrease the granularity for tracking executed read commands for the first portion. The memory system may use the tracked quantities of executed read commands for read disturb remediation.

  • Publication number: 20230051212
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for logic remapping techniques are described. A memory system may receive a write command to store information at a first logical address of the memory system. The memory system may generate a first entry of a logical-to-physical mapping that maps the first logical address with a first physical address that stores the information. The memory system may perform a defragmentation operation or other remapping operation. In such a defragmentation operation, the memory system may remap the first logical address to a second logical address, such that the second logical address is mapped to the first physical address. The memory system may generate a second entry of a logical-to-logical mapping that maps the first logical address with the second logical address.

  • Publication number: 20230041188
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for cache block budgeting techniques are described. In some memory systems, a controller may configure a memory device with a cache. The cache may include a first subset of blocks configured to statically operate in a first mode and a second subset of blocks configured to dynamically switch between operating in the first mode and a second mode. A block operating in the second mode may be configured to store relatively more bits per memory cell than a block operating in the first mode. The controller may track and store, for each block of the second subset of blocks, a respective ratio of cycles performed in the first mode to cycles performed in the second mode. The controller may select a block from the second subset of blocks to switch between modes responsive to a trigger and based on the respective ratio for the block.

  • Patent number: 11561892
Abstract: Systems and methods for adapting garbage collection (GC) operations in a memory device to a pattern of host accessing the device are discussed. The host access pattern can be represented by how frequent the device is in idle states free of active host access. An exemplary memory device includes a memory controller to track a count of idle periods during a specified time window, and to adjust an amount of memory space to be freed by a GC operation in accordance with the count of idle periods. The memory controller can also dynamically reallocate a portion of the memory cells between a single level cell (SLC) cache and a multi-level cell (MLC) storage according to the count of idle periods during the specified time window.
