  • Publication number: 20160056032
Abstract: Disclosed are methods of depositing films of material on semiconductor substrates. The methods may include flowing a film precursor into a processing chamber through a showerhead substantially maintained at a first temperature, and adsorbing the film precursor onto a substrate held on a substrate holder such that the precursor forms an adsorption-limited layer while the substrate holder is substantially maintained at a second temperature. The first temperature may be at least about 10° C. above the second temperature, or the first temperature may be at or below the second temperature. The methods may further include removing at least some unadsorbed film precursor from the volume surrounding the adsorbed film precursor, and thereafter reacting adsorbed film precursor to form a film layer. Also disclosed herein are apparatuses having a processing chamber, a substrate holder, a showerhead, and one or more controllers for operating the apparatus to employ the foregoing film deposition techniques.

  • Publication number: 20150299863
Abstract: A method for improving the operational life of production parts, such as steel sucker rods, couplings, pump parts, and tubes, for use in underground recovery or production of oil and gas, includes coating the steel production parts with a layer of corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) to reduce a loss rate of the steel by improving corrosion resistance and mitigate pitting. In one embodiment, the corrosion resistant alloy is a nickel-based alloy. In other embodiments, the steel production parts can either be coated with an epoxy/phenolic layer, or coupled with a sacrificial anode. The coating process can implemented by any one of the following processes: cold spray coating; electroless corrosion resistant coating; flow forming; and electrochemical machining.

  • Publication number: 20150213071
Abstract: Embodiments relate to database systems. An aspect includes deferring row insert operations until occurrence of a triggering event. One method includes receiving a row insert for a tuple into a column group store table, where the tuple includes one or more tuplets and each of the tuplets corresponds to a column group in the column group store table. The method also includes copying at least one of the tuplets into an insert buffer that is specific to one of the column groups in the column group store table. The method also includes deferring the row insert into the column group store table until an occurrence of one or more triggering events. The method also includes flushing the row insert into storage associated with the column group store table, in response to the occurrence of the one or more triggering events.

  • Patent number: 8960085
Abstract: A system is provided to utilize one or more video cameras placed proximal to one or more operating systems of a round baler and one or more signals on the baler to switch screens on a display to display video during bale ejection, crop feeding, twine or net wrapping and back up. The display switches screens back to other baler application when for example the ejection cycle is completed, the wrapping cycle is completed etc. This allows an operator to visually monitor various baler functions while facing forward and without the need to manually change setting on the display.

  • Patent number: 8938118
Abstract: Single-image super-resolution (SISR) is the problem of generating a high resolution image from a single low resolution image. The SISR technique known as neighbor embedding utilizes a training ensemble of pairs of low and high resolution image patches, where the patches in a given pair represent the same image region. The present invention improves upon prior neighbor embedding algorithms by offering a practical, computationally efficient method of neighbor embedding for generating a high resolution version of a low resolution image. The technique may also be applied to generate high resolution versions of low resolution text images for subsequent input into OCR engines. OCR character error rates found on the high resolution images are drastically lower than those found when OCR is applied to the original low resolution text images.

  • Patent number: 8665997
Abstract: A method of demodulating an AIS signal by receiving the signal, sampling the signal, estimating the carrier frequency, estimating the complex conjugate of the carrier frequency contribution to each sample, multiplying each sample by the complex conjugate and calling the results a base-banded sampled signal (BBSS), correlating the BBSS with known preambles, identifying a maximum magnitude of the BBSS/preamble correlation and its location and the associated preamble, computing a complex inner product of the preamble with a segment of the BBSS, estimating the carrier phase as an argument function of the eighth step result, estimating a complex conjugate of the carrier phase contribution to the BBSS, multiplying each fifth step result starting at the location of the maximum magnitude of the BBSS/preamble correlation by the tenth step result, and demodulating the results starting at that location.

  • Patent number: 8347543
Abstract: Measurement of the deviation of a laser beam from a straight line, where the laser beam is of a type which causes thermal blooming, is used to determine the integrated effect which wind will have on an article traveling through airspace, for example, to enable an adjustment in the aim point of the article. The invention includes correcting the aim point of a gun firing a projectile, correcting the flight path of an aircraft, and correcting the path of a watercraft. The invention includes a method and means for measuring the flow of fluid in a conduit or as a free mass, for purposes other than adjusting the path of a projectile or the like.

  • Publication number: 20120185103
Abstract: A Method of controlling power generating equipment to coordinate with the demands of heating equipment and cooling equipment that are powered by exhaust gases from the power generating equipment. A feed-forward prediction is produced of the electrical power supply that produces substantially the required exhaust gas output to match the heating and cooling equipment requirements. A composite power production demand error variable is produced that combines all of the heating and cooling demand requirements that vary from the feed-forward prediction; The demand error variable is sent to a proportional integral derivative control element to generate a control variable. The control variable and the feed-forward prediction are combined to produce a setting for the power generating equipment to produce essentially only the gases required to operate the heating equipment and cooling equipment at the desired level.
