  • Publication number: 20240370950
Abstract: Distributed energy resources (DERs) are remotely controlled devices that are connected to the electric grid and can affect the grid. The effect could be the result of consuming electricity, generating electricity, or storing electricity. Common examples of DERs include thermostats, electric vehicles (EVs), home batteries, and electric water heaters. DERs may be controlled to take advantage of multiple incentive programs offered by one or more incentive providers. The DER optimization may involve interacting with a carbon marketplace, a renewable energy credit marketplace, or both. A customer may provide preference data that indicates preferred and acceptable values for conditions of one or more DERs. Multiple incentives are combined into a single price signal. Based on the price signal and customer preference data, a schedule for energy consumption is generated. One or more DERs are controlled according to the generated schedule.

  • Publication number: 20240366141
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a pattern recognition and feature extraction system and method configured to detect and analyze non-stationary, transient, or locally structured signals from longer time-series data of obtained beta waveforms of an animal to characterize a biomarker of a brain state or condition. An example system comprises a computing device configured to process obtained recordings of electrical activity arising from a brain of an animal for detecting beta wave events. A first representation of short-time segments may be generated to represent amplitude fluctuations indicating extrema and time-domain features in the beta wave events and a second representation for identifying temporal positions of the extrema in the first representation. The computing device compares statistical distributions of feature characteristics and generates mean waveforms of signals from at least one condition aligned by the temporal positions assigned to one of extracted feature types to indicate a brain state of the animal.

  • Publication number: 20240373416
Abstract: Optimization of transmission beams in 5G/6G requires feedback to the transmitting entity. Current beam alignment/optimization methods are so complex and resource-intensive, that users often delay re-alignment even when required by to changing conditions. Therefore, methods are provided for a transmitter to add two brief, single-resource-element test signals, with slightly different transmission parameters (such as direction), to the end each message. The receiver selects which test signal, or the message itself, that has the best signal, and informs the transmitter using a terse bit-level acknowledgement code. The reception beam must also be aligned, generally without feedback. The transmitter provides a series of identical signals, sequentially in time, while the receiver varies its reception beam parameters while measuring the signal level and optimizing its reception parameters.

  • Publication number: 20240369670
Abstract: A noise camera comprises a plurality of audio detectors such as microphones, which are spatially disposed with respect to a tracking camera. The plurality of audio detectors may be arranged to detect a location of a noise source in a field of view of the tracking camera, thereby allowing identification of a source of noise such as a vehicle emitting noise exceeding a predetermined threshold such as a legal limit. The noise camera may comprise one or more detection cameras for identifying a noise source by techniques such as number plate recognition for the example of a vehicle. A location of a noise source in the field of view of the tracking camera is determined from a time difference of arrival of the noise from the noise source detected by a plurality of the audio detectors. The time difference of arrival indicating an angle of the noise from the tracking camera may be mapped into video captured with the field of view of the tracking camera as one or more pixel location values.
