The real-time gas turbine simulation system simulates a gas turbine to verify a GTCS for controlling a gas fuel through an actuator/sensor module and a safety integrity level (SIL) protection function through a protection module for the gas turbine, and includes a hardwire-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator connected to the actuator/sensor module and the protection module through one or more hardwires to simulate a time critical portion of the gas turbine in real time, and a network simulator connected to the GTCS through a network to simulate a non-time critical portion of the gas turbine in real time.

An application on the computer system matches the images received from the finger device to a representation of the surface, identifies an action associated with the surface representation and gesture, and executes the action. Instrumenting the finger instead of the surface, allows a user to configure virtually any surface to accept touch input.

    Abstract: Method and/or apparatus embodiments can process volume image data of a subject. An exemplary method includes obtaining a first group of two-dimensional radiographic images of the subject, wherein each of the images is obtained with a detector and a radiation source at a different scan angle. The method arranges image data from the first group of images in an image stack so that corresponding pixel data from the detector is in register for each of the images in the image stack. Pixels that represent metal objects are segmented from the image stack and data replaced for at least some of the segmented pixels to generate a second group of modified two-dimensional radiographic images. The second group of images is combined with the first group to generate a three-dimensional volume image according to the combined images and an image slice from the three-dimensional volume image is displayed.

A 3D medical image, such as a 3D computed tomography (CT) volume, of a patient is received. The 3D medical image of the patient is input to a trained deep image-to-image network. The trained deep image-to-image network is trained in an adversarial network together with a discriminative network that distinguishes between predicted liver segmentation masks generated by the deep image-to-image network from input training volumes and ground truth liver segmentation masks. A liver segmentation mask defining a segmented liver region in the 3D medical image of the patient is generated using the trained deep image-to-image network.

Initial vertebra locations in a 3D CT volume of a patient are predicted for a plurality of vertebrae corresponding to a plurality of vertebra labels using a trained deep image-to-image network (DI2IN). The initial vertebra locations for the plurality of vertebrae predicted using the DI2IN are refined using a trained recurrent neural network, resulting in an updated set of vertebra locations for the plurality of vertebrae corresponding to the plurality of vertebrae labels. Final vertebra locations in the 3D CT volume for the plurality of vertebrae corresponding to the plurality of vertebra labels are determined by refining the updated set of vertebra locations using a trained shape-basis deep neural network.

    Abstract: A technique for manufacturing slickline with a jacket of enhanced bonding. The technique may include roughening an outer surface of a metal core and applying an initial insulating polymer layer to the roughened core in a non-compression manner such as by tubing extrusion. The insulated core may then be heated and run through a set of shaping rollers. Thus, the grip between the polymer and the underlying metal core may be enhanced at a time following the initial placement of the polymer on the core. In this manner, processing damage to the underlying core surface which might adversely affect maintaining the grip may be minimized. Other techniques such as powder spray delivery of the initial polymer layer may also be utilized in a similar manner.
