Abstract: An apparatus and method for a universal plug and play (UPnP) service in a public network environment, the apparatus including: a UPnP multicast monitoring module to monitor a header of a frame inputted to a repeater and to request a discard of the frame; a discard control module to select and to discard the frame for which the discard has been requested; and a switching management module to register and to manage information on discarded frames.

Abstract: Provided is a vacuum cleaner which comprises: a cleaner body formed with a mounting space; a vacuum motor mounted in the cleaner body to produce suction force; a brush assembly connected to the cleaner body; a dust collection device mounted in the mounting space and having a dust collection bin; and a lifting/lowering unit for lifting or lowering the dust collection bin in relation to the cleaner body, so that the dust collection bin is anchored in the mounting space or removed from the mounting space, wherein the lifting/lowering unit is mounted on the outer bottom surface of the dust collection bin so that it can be mounted in the mounting space or removed from the mounting space along with the dust collection bin. As a result, it is possible to prevent the leakage of discharge air and to reduce the pollution and malfunction of the lifting/lowering unit.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to perform a handover of a mobile terminal that is receiving data, wherein before the handover is performed, the mobile terminal receiving data from a host provides information about a new network to the host by using a quick-start (QS) request message. Accordingly, the host recognizes that a packet loss caused by the handover is not caused by network congestion, and sets the size of a congestion window based on the information on the new network. Accordingly, waste of bandwidth can be reduced compared to that of a conventional slow-start algorithm.

Abstract: A fan holder (1) includes a base (12) for supporting a fan (3) thereon and a pair of locking members (14) pivotally connected to the base. Each of the locking members includes a pivot shaft (142) and a handle (144) extending perpendicularly from the pivot shaft. The pivot shaft includes a pivot section (1422) and a pressing section (1426) offsetting from the pivot section and spaced from the base, wherein the handle is capable of rotating about an axis of the pivot shaft to lock with the base and to cause the pressing section to exert a force against the fan toward the base to securely attach the fan to the base.

Abstract: A quality of service (QoS) securing apparatus and method using a communication protocol is provided. The QoS securing method is performed by a reception side that is receiving data from a transmission side. The method includes generating information about a changed communication environment according to a change in a communication environment of the reception side, and transmitting the information to the transmission side. An exchange of information about a communication environment using the communication protocol between the reception side and the transmission side can inform the transmission side about resources of the reception side, link characteristics, characteristics of a link on a transmission path, etc., thereby securing a QoS of data communication between the reception side and the transmission side.

Abstract: Provided is a method of fabricating an optoelectronic integrated circuit chip. In particular, a method of fabricating an optoelectronic integrated circuit chip is provided, in which an optical absorption layer of a wave-guide type optical detector is grown to be thicker than a collector layer of a hetero-junction bipolar transistor by using a selective area growth by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method, and the wave-guide type optical detector and the hetero-junction bipolar transistor are integrated as a single chip on a semi-insulated InP substrate, thereby readily realizing the wave-guide type optical detector improved in quantum efficiency and having the ultra-high speed characteristics.

Abstract: A fast handover method and apparatus for a mobile node between sub-networks by using a predictive algorithm includes: identifying a sub-network which is likely to be connected to a mobile node; requesting detection of whether an address of the mobile node which is to be used in the sub-network is already used in the sub-network; and selectively requesting performance of a binding update of the mobile node based on a response to the request. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent or reduce handover delay caused by the duplicate address detection.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a wireless network to maintain a QOS is provided. The apparatus includes a resource calculating unit which calculates resources needed to transmit packets if a transmission rate of a network changes, a comparing unit which compares the calculated resources and resources allotted by an access point of the network; and a control unit which determines whether to request additional resources by using a result of the comparison by the comparing unit.

Abstract: A retainer includes a retention module surrounding a heat sink and two clip members for cooperating with the retention module to retain the heat sink. Each clip member includes a strap resting on the heat sink and a pair of legs located at opposite ends of the strap and engagable with the retention module. The clamping portion of each has a first pressing portion, a second pressing portion spaced from and in alignment with the first pressing portion, and a catch depending between the first and second pressing portions. The retention module includes a bottom with an opening defined therein, and two pairs of first and second clasps extending from the bottom for locking the two clips. When the retention module and the clips are in a locked position, the catches of the clips engage with the first clasps of the retention module, the operating portions engage with the second clasps of the retention module.

Abstract: Disclosed is a non-volatile ferroelectric memory device having differential data, the device including: a plurality of cell array block groups having a hierarchy bit line structure and storing differential data; a common data bus being shared by a plurality of the cell array block groups, and transferring sensing voltages induced by the differential data; a column selection control unit selectively applying to the common data bus the induced sensing voltages of two main bit lines of the cell array block group according to the differential data; and a sense amp unit receiving the sensing voltages through the common data bus, comparing two sensing voltages induced by the differential data, and sensing the cell data. Therefore, the non-volatile ferroelectric memory device of the invention is capable of sensing a cell data more stably, independent of external factors and the state of a cell, by simultaneously sensing the stored data (differential data) in two unit cells and detecting the cell data.

Abstract: A non-volatile ferroelectric memory device having differential datacomprises a plurality of cell array blocks and a data buffer unit. Each of the plurality of cell array blocks includes cell arrays and sense amplifiers. The cell array has a hierarchical bit line architecture and are divided into top and bottom groups where differential data are stored in a plurality of unit cells corresponding to differential main bit lines of the divided cell arrays. The sense amplifiers are positioned between the divided cell array groups for sensing the differential data. The data buffer unit temporarily stores a read data sensed by the sense amplifier and a write data received through a data I/O port.

Abstract: A backlight driving system is provided for a liquid crystal display device. The backlight driving system comprises at least one backlight having at least one terminal, an inverter and at least one transformer. The inverter supplies a voltage to the backlight and has first and second output terminals. The transformer has a first input coil and a second input coil that are connected to the first and the second output terminals of the inverter. The transformer transforms the voltage outputted from the inverter and applies a transformed voltage to the backlight via the terminal of the backlight.

The access device includes a packet-header analyzer analyzing a header of a packet received from a home network device, a copyrighted-content sensor detecting whether the packet includes copyrighted content as a result of the analysis, an address converter for converting a packet source IP address into an IP address supported by the external network if a packet destination address is an external network address as a result of the analysis, a mapping-table generator generating a mapping table for managing a mapping a relationship between the packet source IP address and the converted IP address, and a packet transmitter transmitting the packet to the IP address supported by the external network and discarding the packet to block transmission of the copyrighted content to the external network if the copyrighted-content sensor detects that the packet includes the copyrighted content.
